Dreadful experience as both a vendor and renter with John D Wood in Summertown. They are nice enough people but ineffective. The sale of my house was sloppy at best, communication with them was awful, the people sent to do viewings knew nothing about the property and they often turned up late for viewings. Took a long time (over 6 months) to sell but as soon as I gave them 28 days notice of moving to a different agent activity stepped right up and it was sold very quickly. I also rented a property from them and that was similarly disspointing. As a renter they charged me for replacement parts (cracked freezer door) and the charge was way over what I could see it actually cost online, their answer was that their contractors dont have to provide receipts so basically they dont make any checks and are happy to pass on any cost from their contractors to the renter. Took over 5 months and no resolution, they still have my deposit!! Would definitely not recommend for selling or renting!!!!

We engaged John D Wood to let our property in East End, near Witney in Oxfordshire. We live abroad so had to rely on the letting agent to deal with most things in our absence. We dealt mainly with Jackie and Carol who were excellent. They both dealt with everything in a very professional and efficient manner. They also managed to find Tenants within a few weeks of instruction at the price pre-agreed. We would find it very challenging to suggest how they could improve anything. We were, and continue to be, delighted with the high levels of service from John D Wood, and would be very happy to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a letting agent. Excellent.

John D Wood (Oxford) operate differently: Unlike many agents who parcel up elements of the process and pass them into the hands of back-office staff, all of the JDW team are, at all points, equally well-informed about context and are equally able to to progress things. Their marketing, while low-key, generated many enquiries, the team lined up viewings very effectively and the office responded really well to challenges from prospective purchasers (and this vendor!). The transaction itself was handled efficiently with support from local solicitors. Overall, a great service - highly recommended.

Excellent service from start to finish!

I'd like to thank the whole team at John D Wood in South Kensington and in particular Umar and Angelo for introducing a buyer and working together with all parties (solicitors, managing agents, freeholders, buyer and vendor) in a friendly, personalised and dedicated way from start to finish. Although the whole process - from offer and sales memorandum till exchange of contracts and completion of the sale at the agreed price - took approximately 12 weeks, Umar and Angelo have always kept me informed of every single step towards achieving a successful sale. It was often just a text or quick phone call - even on a Sunday - which kept me motivated throughout the process. I believe that with John D Wood I have been in very good hands and would therefore highly recommend them.

Deposit nightmare solved

We have recently had to move during COVID. It was incredibly stressful and made worse when we found ourselves unable to access our deposit back through no fault of our own. At first I was not happy with the responses I was getting until Rupert Simmonds stepped in. He went above and beyond to cut through red tape and help us to get our deposit back in full. Rupert is a credit to John D Wood!

This company make an appearance of disorganization, but could not possible stay in business, if they were, indeed, as disorganized as they appear. Having managed to fend me off for three days whilst I was house-hunting in France; I finally found that the gem of a house I had found - in Perpignan - was taken off the market; in order that it could be purchased by a relative of one of the partners/directors of John D Wood. Worse than inefficient and unprofessional ... very close to fraudulent! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!

We rented our house through John D Wood &Co Oxford who handled the process with exceptional professionalism: they were fast, responsive and made sure everything goes smooth. Carol Errington and her team have showed that they value us as tenants, and have the same consideration for our temporary home as we do. They are also the ones managing the property and that has really changed our experience as tenants, as they made sure we don't have to worry about anything. In the scenario when repairs were needed, they were extremely prompt and accommodating! If we have to move again, we will definitely try to do it through them!
