TrustpilotDO NOT RENT WITH JOHN D WOOD UNLESS YOU LOVE STRESS 6 months of hell. No ventilation, health hazard.
They are the worst letting agent we’ve ever dealt with, do not rent or buy with this company, complete incompetence at all levels of management. They will cost you money, time, stress & potentially your health, it is not worth it! When we moved out we also recieved our deposit back in full just for clarity. (Though it took much longer than it should have)

We have recently had to move during COVID. It was incredibly stressful and made worse when we found ourselves unable to access our deposit back through no fault of our own. At first I was not happy with the responses I was getting until Rupert Simmonds stepped in. He went above and beyond to cut through red tape and help us to get our deposit back in full. Rupert is a credit to John D Wood!

Really bad when it comes to services. My deposit is stuck with them for more than 2 months. Always some lame excuse for not paying back. There is an property manager named Moesha, who will never address any query but will just be harsh I hope to give below 1 star but that the least i can go.

Claire has been excellent in helping us find a rental properly from abroad. She was super flexible with our requirements and timing and always kept us in the loop once we found the property. She did an extra video viewing and asked many questions to current tenants on our behalf. I would highly recommend Claire and her team and if were to rent again would definitely use them!

GoogleJohn D Wood in Oxford have rented my home in Oxford for a number of years and have provided an excellent managed service, ensuring the house was kept in good condition and that my tenants were happy. Carol, the rentals manager, even coordinated work to update the house with new kitchen, carpets and decor. The house has recently been sold, with the assistance of the JD Wood sales team who have been friendly and professional throughout the process.

I have a property which is fully managed by JohnDWoods , they couldn't renew my contract due to sick leave of their employee , they cant solve my problem I have to reach to tenant by myself and trying to solve the issues , 20 days pasts the contract end date .

This company make an appearance of disorganization, but could not possible stay in business, if they were, indeed, as disorganized as they appear. Having managed to fend me off for three days whilst I was house-hunting in France; I finally found that the gem of a house I had found - in Perpignan - was taken off the market; in order that it could be purchased by a relative of one of the partners/directors of John D Wood. Worse than inefficient and unprofessional ... very close to fraudulent! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!

GoogleWe rented our house through John D Wood &Co Oxford who handled the process with exceptional professionalism: they were fast, responsive and made sure everything goes smooth. Carol Errington and her team have showed that they value us as tenants, and have the same consideration for our temporary home as we do. They are also the ones managing the property and that has really changed our experience as tenants, as they made sure we don't have to worry about anything. In the scenario when repairs were needed, they were extremely prompt and accommodating! If we have to move again, we will definitely try to do it through them!

GoogleI would like to praise Sarah Haywood-Broomfield for her extremely helpful advice. I know most agents know this stuff. Rare they are so focused. Sarah said in ten minutes all I needed to know. I made myself slightly unpopular telling a rival this. I now will get on and do the work and would love to invite Sarah back to do the new evaluation. The work is 100 % what she said including new boiler. Builder is booked and windows bought and paid for. I suppose when someone has moved house 31 times she would know a bit ( yikes that's frightening as I have only moved 2 times in 60 years and soon to be my third ).

I rented a property which was managed by this company. The agents made promises they did not meet and the management agents are extremely poor. There was a flood and the information provided by the company turned out to be in accurate so they have refused to reimburse me for the hotel and all costs. I have had to instruct my lawyers to start a court process.

GoogleMoving halfway around the world on a short time frame was difficult and stressful, but it was made possible by the outstanding service received from Celia and Sarah at JDW Oxford. Celia started early to facilitate our viewing at the only time we had available, then helped us through the application process and especially helped us understand the mysteries of things like "council tax" and "BT". Sarah was kind and patient even when the international banking system wasn't, and when my work schedule slowed my responses to important emails. Hopefully it's a while before we move again but when we do I will start with John D Wood at Oxford because I could not have asked for better service and better outcomes. Thank you.

We were looking for a studio flat for my daughter when she first moved in Oxford and Jackie showed us different properties and without Jackie's advice it would have been difficult for us to find a property that would suit our needs. Jackie was very understanding and highly professional and we are very grateful for everything Jackie has done for us to help my daughter find and settle in the new flat.

GoogleMy wife and I feel ourselves very fortunate to have been advised by Jackie Smith recently. We first met Jackie a decade ago, when she helped us to let out our cottage in Henley-on-Thames. We were very impressed then with the way Jackie took everything in her stride and made the whole process go smoothly and efficiently, and most of all with her unfailing courtesy and charming manner. We look back on the way she helped us then as outstanding: we really felt that here was a person whose reassurances that all would go well, could be relied on and that the outcome would be successful. We thought that finding a house last month in the centre of Oxford, that would suit all our needs, would be a major obstacle. We had already made enquiries with other estate agents who hadn't really taken on board our situation and needs, or found a property matching our requirements. However, when we heard that Jackie was still in John D. Wood's Lettings and could help us find a rental property, we were really very happy and relieved. Many years ago Jackie had made such a favourable impression on us: we were confident that she would find a solution for us. And she did. The first house we saw on the internet had already been promised but Jackie diplomatically questioned us and identified our specific family needs.The very same day, she directed us to the ideal house for us. She had matched our needs up perfectly with the right rental property: the ideal size, the right location for the station and schools, quiet street, ideal length of tenancy, good parking, and she negotiated what we consider to be the correct price. There were certain difficulties to iron out, as we are relocating from abroad, but Jackie Smith patiently ironed out all the associated problems and negotiated carefully on our behalf, liaising quickly and efficiently with the landlord to find solutions. She speedily arranged viewings of the house with the current tenants which was very helpful. We feel very grateful to Jackie Smith for the very professional way in which she has quided us through the whole process of finding a suitable property to rent, all in her unflappable, experienced way, with quiet efficiency and unerring tact. Jackie really is an exceptional estate agent and we now have absolutely no hesitation in recommending John D. Wood & Co Lettings to our family and friends. Sincerest thanks Jackie for making (what we thought would be) a very difficult, challenging and stressful time, into a well-organised and unstressful experience.

She took plenty of time to understand our needs and show us several different properties, including types we had not considered before, in areas we had not considered before. Though ultimately we found a property elsewhere, Jackie's assistance was invaluable in helping us to better understand our options, the areas that would be suitable for us, and what we were really looking for. We highly recommend Jackie, as she has an in-depth knowledge of Oxford and a willingness to spend time understanding and finding what's right for you!

GoogleAlthough I did not find a rental through John D Wood & Co, I have to point out that their employee- Celia Francis, has proved an asset to the company, and has left a great impression of the values that Im sure John D Wood & Co aim to stand for. Through what is a stressful and unnerving experience of moving house, Celia has been the only lettings negotiator to call frequently, and send through details of properties that actually do match my search criteria. She has been personable, reliable, and genuinely seemed to care. I felt Celia treated me like an individual, and tailored her search accordingly. She also made it very easy to access information, and went the extra mile where other agents would not. I hope John D Wood & Co realise what an asset Celia is for their team, and follow her example in customer service.

Jackie Smith went out of her way to make sure everything went perfectly at not only the initial viewing, where she explained all the details of The Pillar House, but also at two further viewings (for my family members) and for our moving in day. Jackie always responded very promptly to my numerous emails and phone calls and made what could have been a difficult letting experience a very easy and rewarding process. GoogleI recently attempted renting a place in Summertown with John D Wood. I arrived just as they had closed for business! But, they nevertheless saw me. I met with Jackie Smith who was extremely helpful. She arranged a viewing of a property that I liked immediately, with the help of her colleague drove me to the place and before I knew it I found myself saying yes! I am moving in a few days time! I can say that John D Wood, especially Jackie Smith who was my contact, are very attentive, prompt and supportive. I can recommend them highly!

It said, “If you would like to arrange a no-obligation market appraisal, please do not hesitate to get in touch..” I rang the office and made an appointment for the 7th of March. I was clear that I was not putting the house on the market right now.

GoogleMy husband and I have had an extremely good experience finding -- and keeping -- a letting with John D Wood. Jackie Smith found us a perfect home in the right location, and she and the team have been terrific in responding promptly to various requests on our side. I have dealt with several letting agents in Oxford, and my experience with Jackie was the best. She really went above and beyond both during our move and afterwards.
