TrustpilotSDL sold my property for above the reserve price
SDL sold my property for above the reserve price, which was great, my only negative comment was the day before, I was by the estate agent to reduce the reserve price from consultation with SDL as they weren't sure it would make the reserve price. I didn't get the voicemail until the day of the auction which made it difficult to act. Upon questioning why? They said only 5 persons had registered with another 3 trying to register that day, This made me wander... I was told 700-800 persons register for each auction, the fact that buyers have to register to the indivual property was not disclosed, so I may have gone out to private treaty instead as there may have been more potential for buyers instead of the 5 I had.
Thank you for your review and congratulations on your sale. We do indeed have several hundred registered bidders in total for our auctions each month. We ask each prospective bidder to tell us which lots they are interested in bidding on so that we can keep them up to date on specific details of each lot, for example if we receive additional information or if the lots sells prior to auction. In addition, our auctioneer needs to know how many bidders there are for each lot for when he is offering it for sale, in order to ensure all parties have time to place their bid. We're would like to apologise that felt misled by this. It's great that you had five bidders for your property which led to competitive bidding on auction day and a sale above your reserve price.

Your staff were very responsive from day 1, either instant replies or no later than 1 working day normally. The whole auction procedure was quite straight forward and easy to follow. The advise on auction prices was professional and achieved our goal of a quick sale. And lastly, thanks for the solicitor recommendation that helped us to meet the April auction deadline. We are very happy that our unit could be sold within a month. Now we are waiting for the solicitors to close the deal for us.

Be aware of these peopleHad a very bad experience with SDL and I would like all to know what happened in March 2024. I called SDL TWICE trying to put my offer in for a property (to be auctioned on 27th of March). In both occasions, SDL closed door and said there will be no offer accepted and this property will go to the Auction on March 27th. They never mentioned that property could be sold prior to the auction.I received an email this morning to say Property is sold prior too the auction which shocked me. When I called to double check, they said that the other offers has been too good to be refused and property is sold prior to the AuctionI incurred cost to get solicitor check the auction pack plus builder to visit the building to provide their feedback. Valuable time wasted to visit property in two occasions as well.I considered this as an act of discrimination by DSL, who went against their words to me, accepting offer from others and giving no chance to me.This is hugely unprofessional and I am extremely disappointed.

Be aware off this people Win auction last month, took them week to send contracts to my solicitors, they put wrong letter in email as results my solicitors didn’t get anything for 7 days . Now I’m in position to lose £17000 deposits because sale is delayed by week . My completion date is 27 march and they don’t want to extend with is their fault . Will take legal action against them. Be aware, make sure this won’t happen to you
We sincerely apologise for this error. Contracts were sent to your solicitor on the auction day but unfortunately the email to your solicitors did have a typo in it. However the email to yourself to confirm the purchase and the completion process was successfully delivered. While it's not within our power to alter the completion date, we would like to help you manage your completion and have already been in touch with the seller regarding this.

Jim Demitriou follow up to my online enquiry was generous in his time for discussion and answering questions, and, in his words " brutally Honest" as to whether an auction was likely to give the best financial outcome and what, as a family, we needed to consider and agree before making up our minds. Such honest discussion rather than the other typical hard sell conversations gives you so much more confidence in the company when looking for a service.
