GoogleWorst agency I used in the UK, lived nearly 5 years on a rented property with Martin and Co, had many problems but the worse was at the end of the tenancy when they (and the landlord) tried to keep almost all my deposit using a super unfair … More

GoogleI lived in the UK for 7 years doing 3 degrees here, I moved in and out of numerous accommodation and dealt with a lot of agencies and out of all of them this agency is really the worst.
From sending the wrong bank details at the start of the tenancy to unresponsive flat maintenance team and charging us £550 from the £900 deposit we paid just from some stuff that was already there, they really are the undisputed worst agency.NegativeQuality, Professionalism, Value

GoogleMartin and Co. was very helpful in get in to my apartment rental. I have never rented in the UK before and their offices helped me navigate all the things I needed to do before arriving, during my time there and when I was vacating.
During my letting period, they were helpful with anything needed and were easy to coordinate with. Everyone I dealt with at the office was polite and ready to help. At the end of my letting agreement they were helpful in knowing what I needed to do and the procedure was easy to follow. They were evenly fair to both parties, renter and landlord, when it came to deposit return.
I would use them again if I even end up in the area and need a place to stay long-term. I would recommend using them if anyone asked me.

GoogleProfessional and fantastic team. Especially Courtney, she helped me finding a decent flat within a day and whole process went very smooth. Never had any issues. Thank you Courtney. Highly recommended if you are new to Nottingham and looking for a house for reasonable price.

GoogleI would not accused ALL MartinCo staff BUT the agency Policy to rob the tenants whether legally or Illegally and there are some staff response to this policy. They tried to charge me some broken items that were surely deducted from the previous tenants and just repeat rudely with every tenant. This agent absolutely, rude and greedy

Agent replied
Good afternoon Hassan,
Thank you for your above comments i'm sorry to see of your disappointment regarding your deposit return. I'm aware my colleague's in the property management team are chasing email communication from you. Whilst writing I would like to remind you that the majority of the claim relates to video evidence showing un-authorised dumping of furniture items when you vacated within the building itself.
We look forward to your response to our emails.
Kind regards,

GoogleWith Martin and Co Nottingham's great help, I moved to my new house very quickly and smoothly. I want to give my special thanks to Ian Chamber, a very kind and professional person, always response me quickly when I need help.

GoogleI would give zero stars if that was an option. Very unhelpful, inaccurate advice to me as a tenant regarding a move out as well as maintenance issues that were not resolved. On move out, they use "Martin & Co Maintenance" which is part of their own business, providing obscene quotes for work that is usually less than half of what they are holding from the deposit. Completely unethical business and should not be allowed to operate in this way. There are plenty more letting agents, stay away from this one.

Yellso rude you won't believe it
I have never met someone as rude and unprofessional as Tracy Egginton. She has no respect for anyone. I have asked for a one sentence letter to state that we lived there from date to date for residential evidence, because my sister needs extra evidence to get permit to remain in UK. First she said ''we can't write it'', so i asked if its not allowed by their company policy, she said ''we don't really do this'' so I say that there is no rule that you can't write one sentence letter and she goes to say that ''we're really busy, I can't just write you a letter like that''. Bear in mind that discussion lasted about 10 mins. Finally, she said if i send her an email she will write the letter when she has time. We moved out 15th may, cleaned etc. and today got an email from her saying that our deposit isn't enough to cover decorating costs so they want us to pay £100s on top of our deposit. I mesn i have many stories to tell about Tracy, she is a genuine Karen, shes like the boss fight Karen.

YellThe audacity
We have left our property in good condition, but we have lived there for over 4 years, so I think it needs renovating since when we moved in there, the carpets and walls were already old and heavily used. But our deposit isn't enough to cover the costs of repainting and cleaning etc so they want us to actually pay them. They want to keep our entire deposit and pay extra. They want us to give them more money! They litrerally asked us to pay for redecorating. On top of that they are useless when you're having trouble with heating, boiler etc....

GoogleI have nothing but good words in particular for Tracy Robinson who dealt with my tenancy when I was moving out. To say I was very rude about claiming my deposit back is an understatement but to her credit she stayed calm and professional all throughout my strop and eventually sorted me out with my deposit back. Honestly she was outstanding.

YellI wish I could give a 0 star
First of all, Rebecca is rude. Their customer service is very terrible. Don’t ever use this agency because if you do just know you won’t get your security deposit back.

YellWould give 0 stars if I could!
Firstly on the viewing I asked whether it was council tax band A, I was told it was and then it wasn’t, it was more expensive than they stated. Secondly I asked about pets I was told I could have pets if I pay a £300 pet deposit - called up to pay it and was told pets are illegal in my building. Tracey Egginton do you know anything about any of your properties?!? All appliances were 14-15 years old and installed when the building was built, so of course worked absolutely horrendously. They’re emergency phone number is actually only open 9-6 Monday-Friday so when my toilet was leaking on a Sunday evening I was screwed. Was not given my deposit back in fact was charged £100s on top of it, for things such as leaving items in the flat. The items that were left were the curtains provided BY THEM!!

YellAwful, Horrible experience with Martin& Co ; STAY AWAY!!!
Martin &co tried to charge us a ridiculous amount (TOTAL £2,128.80) and our deposit for the general wear and tear, they also tried to charge us redecoration costs.(We maintained the house well, cleaned everything properly w/o any breakage, handed over to them as it was received.; #We maintained the house as Smoke free (As we both don’t smoke/drink), Pet free , there are few acceptable wear and tear which are due to one-year usage /tenancy)When we refused to pay(We submitted all the required proof as requested by them ), they started negotiating(We initially agreed for £75 where they made us agree for £120 with an immediate effect as if they are going to release our deposit, saying they are doing us a favour by charging less which we again said no to. When I asked to see any proof of the costs (an invoice) they stopped replying to my emails altogether, leaving us to have to wait for our deposit.

YellRudest agent I ever seen
The agent name’s Tracy. She said that she won’t let me enter the property unless I was really going to rent it, when I first booked a viewing. she didn’t let me finish me sentence! She is by far the rudest agent I’ve ever met! Later, when I went to their office to sign the contact. She lost the key for the apartment and she said I stole it from her during the process.Nevertheless, they ignore every question you ask regarding the property, or simply ask you to search it up on google.

GoogleSpoken to a lovely Martin and Co rep called Kelly today who was so polite and friendly. Adding myself to the database for property alerts was so much simpler and less intrusive then I have found other estate agents, was completed in just a few moments where others have taken time and I have found myself repeating the same answers again as if they dont listen. She even compliment the dog I had which was lovely. Excellent customer service thank you.

GoogleStaff is quite friendly and professional. When shown a property, they had all the required basic information, and followed up on specific questions I asked. I really liked the fact that they did not rush on the move-in date, instead they took some time to ensure the property was fit for purpose. Upon moving in the property, I noticed and appreciated the fact that the flat had been properly cleaned. The only issue is that the allocated parking space is very small to fit most cars.
