GoogleTerrible service - avoid at all costs if renting. Every single time I report an issue with the property it takes a ridiculously long time to have it addressed - never receive updates and the attitude of the staff often borders on rude when all I am looking for is a solution and not to be fobbed off again.

GoogleI strongly recommend this company. I went to them for a probate valuation, and then gave instructions to sell the house. We had ups and downs with buyers, but the staff at Northwood gave me steady support and advice throughout. In my experience staff go the extra mile to provide a good service. The comparison with the estate agents who acted for me in selling my own flat was marked, and emphasised Northwood’s professionalism. I was relieved to be dealing with a reliable company at a very stressful time.

I'm very grateful for the flawless work Reece put in, his customer service was outstanding, often going beyond what was necessary to help which in turn provided a stress free service. I would definitely recommend him if you are thinking about using Northwood because he will be using all avenues and resources to provide the highest level of customer service.

100% not recommended this company to anyone , Portsmouth branch - ask for all the documents included bank details / payslip which they didn’t confirm to rent the place to me , already to send to them few time and still reply to me they didn’t get it. Just ask for the questions - if the landlord will put the deposit to TDS system , they turn down my application within 5 minutes . Wasting time ! Like many people that have left reviews, be aware of them for the deposit issues.

Absolutely would NOT recommend to anyone. (Falkirk Branch) Poor service. Impolite staff. Scraping the bottom of the barrel to take your deposit, after being forced to leave after only 7 month tenancy due to the poor condition of the property overall, from weeks without heating and cooker/ oven, to damp and mould issues causing illness to name only a few. You have to chase everything as promises to call you back don’t happen, they don’t want to deal with it and can’t get you off the phone quick enough when there’s issues. I could honestly go on and on about all the service failings throughout.Felt forced to accept a ridiculous deposit reduction as I could not deal with the stress they had caused any longer throughout and after the tenancy.Would NEVER trust to rent a property through them again personally.

I won’t go into details about their failings as there are so many, however, just to give you an idea, it was things like not paying the “Guaranteed” rent during Covid, quoting us £3300 for a central heating repair and the plumber we sent round fixed it for £120, but the worst part is when we tried to change agents, as they resorted to blackmail and carried out a forced eviction of the tenants against our wishes and despite one of the tenants being treated for Cancer (of which the knew), let me explain more.After taking the final decision to leave Northwood, we employed a new agent to take over the tenants (switch service), however, Northwood had a clause hidden in the contract so they can evict the tenants before handing the property back, which they again explained this would cost me lots of money to move away, hence I should stay with them. I explained this was exactly the reason that I could not stay with them and even if they offered their services for free, I would still leave as their code of conduct was despicable. I explained that the tenants had done nothing wrong to Northwood and they do not deserve to be punished, but they proceeded to evict the tenants out of spite.I spoke to the tenants to warn them of what was happening and the single mother of 3 children explained it was terrible timing as she was currently undergoing chemotherapy for Cancer. I promptly got in touch with Northwood to explain this and that they could not evict them as it was so cruel, but they issued the eviction letter a few days later anyway. I tried to work out with the tenant that they could stay after the eviction notice, but Northwood had this boxed off in their contract also, hence the eviction was carried out. I lost many nights of sleep worrying about the tenant’s eviction and I tried all sorts of options to allow them to stay, but nothing could combat the Northwood contract, even my solicitor explained the contract was extremely unfair as it did not have any reasonable get out clauses, hence there was nothing I could do. So my advice is that you avoid falling into the Northwood trap, as it is literally a trap which will punish both the landlord and tenant should you realise they are not capable of fulfilling a letting service and choose to leave. But more importantly, if a company has staff who are happy to evict a single mother of 3 who is unwell, just out of spite, then even if they were the best letting agent in the world, this totally cruel behaviour should never be rewarded.

GoogleSold our house for asking price! Our situation was that we bought and renovated our home to live in Denton Burn, however, we ended up with an opportunity to move abroad, meaning selling our home was on the cards sooner than we anticipated. However, what we had spent in total was slightly higher than what I could see houses were selling for. Furthermore, the hot topic at the end of 2019 was Brexit, and some mortgage companies and valuers were down-valuing homes after good offers were made, concerned that there would be a price crash. This had caused some "run of the mill" sales to fall through and there were fewer buyers looking than previous years. Two other estate agents told us to advertise either unrealistically higher (risking no viewings coming through the door, or playing a game of price reductions), and far lower (risking selling too quickly, selling ourselves short and losing some of the money we spent on the home). We took advice from Victoria Skoyles who has a good reputation for selling homes in Newcastle. It felt like she was the one who had the natural skill to pull all the intricate details together that had to be factored in during a time of uncertainty and pull off the right result. Knowing this area street by street she acknowledged some points that were different about our home which others had missed, gave us some valuable insights into how the buying market was behaving today, and came up with a price she could justify with a good plan. When we advertised our home with Northwood between Victoria, Andrew and Jayne they took brilliant photographs, organised 9 viewings and to our amazement, within a month they got us three offers! The last being at the actual asking price. If you haven't sold your own house before, there are two main halves to the service (advertising and sales progression), but at each stage there is a lot of communication between you. Your estate agent will get to see the best and worst of you because it is an exciting and stressful moment in your life and it feels like such an uncertain process even when it goes well. At each point of contact this team empathised with, worked around, and completely understood the situation we were in. Once the offer was accepted they didn't just sit back and wait for the solicitors to do their work, the levels of service increased further chasing the buyers's solicitors up, following us up when we hadn't done something etc. We really appreciated one day in particular when Victoria answered us promptly during what appeared to be a week of 12+ hour work days because all of her colleagues were unfortunately ill at the same time in January with this winter's cough/cold/flu bug. She didn't just clock off at 5:30 and leave us hanging - she always did what needed to be done to keep the sale running smoothly and kept us in the updated right away on less urgent matters - that week wouldn't have been easy for her. We can't thank everybody enough including Sara, Michaela, Megan and Inde for the effort and teamwork involved in making sure the sale is completed and we can start our next chapter. WORST Estate Agents EVERThey lie to paying tenants, living with leaks that weren't getting sorted at all. I rented from Northwood for just little over a year and i can honestly say they are the worst out their. Problems from the day I moved in, taking days for replies from Agents, months for repairs and work not being completed and lies within their emails they send. Putting six tenants in a house share at risk of water flooding out of the ceiling near light switches. WOULDN'T RECCOMEND ATT ALL!!

Just bought a property and Northwood were the letting agent so we though we would just go with them to continue rent but they decided to convince my partner and persuade her into a guaranteed rental contract but not telling how much money they would be taking off us. So they currently take quarter of our rental income for doing nothing absolute scam of a company I recommend you find a better letting agent.

Like many people that have left reviews, I have experienced a complete lack of care by the Northwood Reading branch, for the tenant and an unwillingness to respond or maintain the apartment. I viewed an apartment and started pointed out things like cracks in walls that I wanted repaired. I am not looking for perfection, but I do have standards.The agent said yes of course and then sent an inventory that didn't include all the faults that I found. When I moved in nothing had been done at all so like many people on here I am worried that I will not get my full deposit back. I have taken pictures and submitted them to the agent and inventory clerk, but they are ignoring them and not responding. To list but a few, bedroom 1 door does not close properly, holes in the wall from pictures being hung up not being filled properly, gaps in the wooden flooring, cracks in walls around doorframes, oven hob with such thick baked on crap its disgusting (the inventory stated that it was good !!!!) and much more. The radiator in the second bedroom does not come on at all, I have bled it, turned on the valves and no heat.I have left messages for the Reading branch and get no replies. They are great at selling but aftercare is appalling. This seems a common issue with Northwood and I could not recommend them.
