Complicated sale of shared ownership flat

Annie Clarke, Maria Morar and colleagues at Martyn Gerrard were very professional in handing a complicated sale of my shared ownership flat which involved consecutive staircasing and sale. From the first meeting I was given useful documentation for how the process would work and examples of similar sales completed by Martyn Gerrard. There was great communication throughout, from letting me know when viewings were happening to help with chasing solicitors and the housing association in the final stages. They kept me updated with new information and were calm throughout and good at soothing my anxieties when needed!

Martyn Gerrard is a well-known estate agent in North London with many branches. We worked with Fiona Murphy-Archetti in Muswell Hill and she is a very knowledgeable, kind, supportive and understanding sales negotiator. I am really delighted to be writing this review to sum up an amazing experience working with the Martyn Gerrard team on both the sale of our flat and purchase of our dream home in Muswell Hill. The MG Team that helped us were Fiona on our purchase and Jay on our sale, all with the active engagement and support from Chris who was more than happy to get involved to escalate things when we had the inevitable challenges that can come about when navigating the process. We certainly had some challenges either other parties at times, but they were always alleviated to and made less stressful through the proactivity, good humour and hard work of all of the team. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t start well with the Martyn Gerard Muswell Hill sales team, specifically Shuhan and Chris. We felt they were dismissive of our opinions, didn’t communicate effectively with the buyer, and failed to manage the sale properly. We only discovered that the buyer had decided to purchase another property several weeks before we were due to exchange, which resulted in financial loss for us. Working with Shuhan and Chris was extremely disappointing. They were consistently defensive and dismissive whenever we raised concerns, it felt more like they were representing the buyer not us. Based on our experience, I would not feel confident working with either of them again. After having to put the property back on the market (or consider renting it out), our experience improved significantly. Sheriaz from the lettings team was very helpful, and Fiona from the sales team secured us a new buyer. She managed the entire process professionally, kept everything under control, and saw the transaction through to a successful completion. A huge thank you to Fiona. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and restored our confidence in the service. This experience shows that it’s the individuals who make the difference, not the branch itself and Muswell Hill branch needs more people like Fiona. Customer concerns should always be listened to and treated with respect, and it was both upsetting and disappointing to be treated the way we were by Shuhan and Chris.
