We're being harassed by phone to extend…

We're being harassed by phone to extend our contract prematurely, but are faced with radio silence by email when we ask them to confirm what our contractual obligations are... they've been ignoring us for a month now. My partner and I work full time jobs so are unable to take their calls, we've told them numerous times that our preferred method of communication is email, but they'd rather bully us over the phone into renewing our contract early.We're happy with the property, but are fed up with the lack of professionalism shown by Darlows. If we decide not to extend, it'll be because we're fed up of Darlows, not because there is any issues with the property.We're not asking for anything out of the ordinary, we just want to know contractually when we need to let them know if we're going to extend the contract and what our options are. Can we move onto a rolling contract or extend for a different length of time? e.g. 6 months.They are ignoring all these questions and are trying to strong-arm us into signing for another 12 months, MONTHS before our contract says we have to decide by.

Went to view a house with a friend as support, we looked around the house and my friend showed her interest in the house. She put an offer in for the property the following day, darlows did not ring her back at all. She phoned darlows the following day to see what was happening only to be told house had been sold. We believe that if darlows was acting in the best interest of the vendor they should have rang her back saying about the offer they received to see what she was willing to offer. Very disappointed about their service.

I have one property managed by Darlows. Initially I didn’t have the best experience with the lettings team bar Oliver and Kelsey. I found it hard to get a response from the team but after raising the issue with Oliver, the lovely Kelsey took over managing my property for me and I have been very very happy with the service she provides. She’s easy to talk to and I can trust that she will actually get things sorted for me. Kelsey would receive a 5 star review from me but unfortunately due to my initial experience I would have to give the company less as a whole.

My partner and I have been left disappointed by Darlows in Merthyr. We put an offer on a house which we saw through to survey stage after (quite rightly) robust financial checks and 2 visits. The survey came back to show that the house was both sinking, and widening in several directions, had external walls that were extremely thin and not up to code and host of other substantial issues. None of this the fault of anyone working in an estate agents of course. However, we called Sarah promptly to let her know that we wouldn't be able to get a mortgage on the property, and to discuss the survey. She promised that she'd chat to the vendors and come back to us with a response, and keep us posted of any houses that match our criteria. It's now been 4 weeks since we've been waiting for a courtesy call to tie up this interaction. We understand that estate agents are busy, but after contacting us regularly expecting prompt (sometimes with 24hour turnaround) information regarding finance etc etc when the sale was on the table, to completely cease contact without any update is disappointing. On reflection, it seems odd now also that Sarah advised us not to get a structural survey, which, given that we could see visible 1cm cracks in the wall and what the survey response was, was absolutely what was needed for that particular property. In fairness, Sarah had been helpful at the viewings, letting us have ample time to explore at both of our visits which we really appreciated and thanked her for at the time. She was generous with the knowledge she had of the local area too, also appreciated. But to cut off all contact without a cursory update has made us feel low priority unless we're pushing a sale through for the branch. Hope others in the future get a more 'end to end' service.
