TrustpilotNO HOT WATER IN THE BUILDING
It has been 5 days there is no hot water in the building. Everyday same message saying they are sorry for some issues and fixing it. It is a weekend, cant go to gym cant do anything as there is no hot water. Appalling service in the building considering how much they charge to residents for rent. DO NOT CONSIDER THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT QUALITY SERVICE.

Hi Tural, Thank you for leaving a review, and we’re sorry that you’re writing about a less than positive experience. As an UNCLE resident you know that when we mess up, we fess up. And you’re right, over the last 5 days there have been periods where hot water has been unavailable to apartments above the 29th floor, due to a problem affecting how the water pressure is controlled. Residents, rightfully, expect better. While we’ve had this problem, we have had engineers on site regularly who have been implementing a short-term solution to prevent further outages, while the required parts for the long-term fix are on order. Unfortunately, there are still challenges with global supply chains, meaning that specialist components often have quite a long lead time. So, please know we have been doing everything within our power to resolve this as quickly as possible and to reduce the impact it has on our residents. We’ve also been communicating to residents daily, so they know exactly what is going on. That said, we understand spells of no running hot water is a major inconvenience and you are right to feel aggrieved by it. We absolutely apologise for that and are going to be conducting a thorough audit of our entire hot water system to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We do have your on-site team available 24/7 and they are always available to communicate with, so please do reach out directly if you’d like to discuss this further. Thanks so much, The UNCLE team

I’ve been living at Uncle Elephant and Castle for more than 3 years and am ready to extend. To be honest it’s just not the perks that keep me here (gym, sky lounge, etc.) but mainly the people. So nice to see Farid and Paul smiling at me from the reception every time I leave home or come back, asking me about my day or quickly getting me my parcels before asking them! I also appreciate how transparent the staff is with their emails, always keeping us updated with maintenance checks happening in the building, etc. My rental experience so far has been very smooth, thanks to the Uncle team :)

Three weeks ago, we've put down a holding deposit for one of UNCLE's three bed flats in New Cross. 10 days after paying the deposit, they confirmed to us that our application had been successful and that they would send us the contract a day later. After two days, they still hadn't sent it, so we gave them a call. To our surprise and huge disappointment, they told us the current tenants had changed their mind and decided to withdraw their notice, so the flat was no longer available.After telling them that the least they could do was to offer us an alternative, they offered us a much smaller flat (one of the bedrooms couldn't even fit a double bed) for only 90£ less than the other much bigger 3 double bedrooms flat. We don't think this is in any way acceptable from an agency that claims to be trustworthy, professional and reliable. We trusted them and we ended up wasting two weeks, time that we could've spent looking for other flats. It was really upsetting for the 4 of us, especially because it already had been confirmed that we could have the flat, so we were really looking forward to moving in. The team seemed nice and friendly, but unfortunately they can't be trusted until you sign a contract.

I lived in Uncle Stockwell and had so many problems and would not recommend.First, there was a strong sewage smell which was left unresolved for months despite numerous residents making multiple complaints. Second, the washers and dryers never worked even though it cost ~£7.50 per wash. The washing machine would deduct your money and then not wash the clothes. I complained to Circuit Laundry about this who advised they would send someone to repair but this never happened. This problem occurred with machines across many floors. Third, there is a fixed charge for heating which is supposed to be “unlimited”, but this also did not work so rooms were cold most of the time. Fourth, someone came in to inspect my flat on a day where I left London for a week. I returned to my flat after one week and all of the lights had been left on so my electricity bill was far higher than it would have been.The appeal of Uncle buildings is that they are supposed to be stress-free because building managers live on site but this was not my experience at all. They have also accepted rude residents who invite rowdy guests who drink/smoke in the communal areas of the building and disturb the peace. I was on my way to the lift one day and was cornered by a resident carrying a case of beer asking whether I lived here and where was I going. The building seemed safe for women when I first moved in but the cameras have been taken down and it is now quite dangerous.

I've been living in Uncle Stockwell for over 4 years and love my home!It is a modern building with a beautiful park in front of it to get some fresh air or to do outdoor sports. The building has a gym (which is super convenient) and a resident lounge (good for people looking for a different place for WFH sometimes).The location is excellent. The bus link and the two tube stations nearby (Stockwell and Nine Elmes) take you to the city centre in less than half an hour.A note for the location for Muslim residents: there's a halal market & butcher and a mosque close by!And the team is amazing! Ruth, Duncan and Paul are always helpful. Safiah and Henna are always welcoming every day.

I lived at the New Cross site for 5 years and it was a very nice, peaceful and secure experience throughout.The flat was very modern and well insulated from sound and with heat. Helping with escaping the bustle of london and keeping heating costs down in the winter.The staff were always very friendly and willing to help with any issues with the flat or just making your life easier by dropping off mail whilst you were out at work. I loved living here and wish I didn’t have to leave, it was a great location in london and made getting to and from practically anywhere in the city easy. Highly recommend for working professionals working in London.

I called the Manchester Uncle today trying to make an appointment for a viewing.On their website, both a one bedroom (180 ppw) and a studio flat(170 ppw) are stated as available.I was asked by the lady at the other end for my budget, which was 800 GBP - although I was willing to go above that if I was impressed by what was offered, and been told that there is only one studio available at the price of 925 ppm. As such I asked for a viewing in any case,because I was in the area, but to my amazement I was refused, being told that there is no point in viewing the studio if it's over my budget, and told to call again to see if anything "more appropriate for my budget" will become available in the future. I was quite embarrassed thinking that my budget is too small. A sad experience and pretty bad&lazy sales techniques if you are straight out refusing viewings - I could have been swayed away and gone over budget as any good salesman would know.Perhaps they were too busy with other more important things than showing flats

We lived in the New Cross apartments for around 18 months. The first property managers weren't great, we would come home to find out people had been in the apartment without any notice. The property managers who replaced them were very friendly and always helpful when needed. Our move out was over a 2 week period and during that time things were stolen from our apartment by a third party who was given access while we wasn't there (cleaners or builders). No one wanted to accept responsibility, we had to keep chasing for CCTV footage for weeks and eventually gave up as we realised no one wanted to do much about it.

The review as posted is simply not the way we do business so have undertaken an in-depth investigation to follow up on your report as this was not our understanding of the situation or circumstances. At UNCLE We take security very seriously and always ensure we make every effort to keep our residents safe and secure. We appreciate your comments about our resident managers as they too were very concerned about your comments, however your version of events simply do not match ours. We have checked carefully the CCTV and have found nothing untoward. The contractor had been in your apartment with your consent. These contractors have been thoroughly vetted by UNCLE and as we say we have viewed the CCTV to check that everything was in order. That said we’re clearly sorry that after 18 months living with us you’ve left with that sentiment. We wish you all the best at your new home.

I have lived in the Manchester Uncle twice now. The first for a year which we loved but we needed more space and moved to another place which had an extra bedroom, but we regretted it so moved back into Uncle. Andrew the manager was there both times. He keeps everything going impressively. Things are fixed almost instantly (such as filter on washing machine clearing; dislodged window part). The staff have changed but they have always been excellent. Shout outs to Irène, Rosalie, Amanda, Chon and Dee! And the maintenance team. The flats are lovely. Excellent location. Great views.
