TrustpilotHassle free experience for a time pressed professionals to manage their BTL properties
I found the entire end to end rent now process so intuitive and easy to work with. It is such a hassle free experience for a time pressed professionals to manage their BTL properties. Thankyou OpenRent team. Keep doing the great work and evolve the experiences.Areas of improvement:I found additional services such as booking engineers to do EICR, PAT and Gas checks and issue reports too pricey it was way higher than i found outside of openrent, it was simple google search that gave me lot of options to go through and get that booked in. Would be good to offer competitive rates so that customers like us can get it all done under one roof.

TrustpilotSimple & Perfect Solution
Openrent has a wider reach to those who are looking to rent a property, it is a Simple & Perfect Solution for both parties. I received 15 requests in 3 days' time of posting. The downside could be too many requests, landlords could get confused about picking and spend more money on reference checks on profiles they liked since landlords might have might have low confidence in Openrent profiles.

TrustpilotNot reliable and use cheap scam credit check companies
I will not be using OpenRent again. They use Rentguard for credit checks. Probably because this is the cheapest option. It is also the most inaccurate, false reporting service I have ever come across. If they had any regard for tenant's over their own profits they would use a reputable company.

I have used open rent a number of times. I would say the tech is good and well designed. The only issue is customers should be able to call you like on auto trader. The phone line people are not to clued up and sometimes put the tenants off. I got a quote from an agent and they wanted £1500 just to find someone. Openrent was 10%!

Easy to write the advert and post photos. Booking viewings is easy as is changing them if you need to. Referencing is well worth the money. I'd use Openrent again and recommend it to other landlords.

TrustpilotOpenrent - A premium product for not a lot of money!
I've used Openrent for a while but never left a review. So time to change that.I use their £29 package and it's excellent. They take all the hassle out of renting out properties. They even remind the applicants of their viewing times 2 hours before the actual appointment. The coverage on various other sites is also great.Only drawback is they don't offer their full additional services in Scotland due to us having a different legal system to the rest of the UK.But this aside it's still a premium service for not a lot of money!

TrustpilotAbout to use for the 3rd time
I've used OpenRent twice before as an independent small landlord and I'm about to use them again. The reason I like them is as much for the tenants as for me because it means I can let for less, manage the properties myself and not have large management fees to have to add on to the cost for the tenants. I've used the tenancy agreement service as well as appointments and the process is "workflow" based so any failure to respond that gets attributed to OpenRent is likely due to Landlords not bothering to reply rather than the platform. For me, it's clear and the service acts as a genuine middle-man for handling everything through to electronic signing of standard tenancy contracts.

Hi,Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I am very sorry to hear about your experience here.I can see that you have also left us a review on Google that you have been in touch with our customer service team regarding your concerns over the service that you received. I have responded to this email now - please do reply if you have any further questions.I will reiterate my sentiment that, whilst the decision on how to proceed with prospective tenants is always with the landlord, we do expect our landlords to remain in constant contact with our tenants to ensure that they are clear on the status of their application.I am sorry that this application did not work out for you, but you can continue your search online. All our available properties are visible by searching on www.openrent.co.uk.Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review and please do respond to my email if you have any questions.Best wishes,India and the OpenRent team

TrustpilotEasy to list via Open rent
Easy to list via Open rent, but once you receive 100 emails , Open rent will stop the add. Then I had to pay to relist the add, which should not be the case. I emailed Open rent to count the number of tenants who visited the flat , as many have contacted for viewing but some did not come or did not read the flat listing and criteria for tenants. It was disappointing that Open rent managers are using this to make landlords paying again for the same listing.

TrustpilotNice and easy
We should have moved to Open Rent years ago. We started using traditional letting agents (bureaucratic and inflexible to deal with, one went to prison for fraud), then we changed to another online letting agent who were good, but Open Rent have been brilliant. Very inexpensive and easy to use and friendly when contacted. The best feature is the pause function. After receiving a large number of enquiries and finding what I hope will be a great tenant, I paused the advert just in case he changed his mind. Very easy to either end the advert completely or to restart it.Highly recommended.

Hi David,Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. At OpenRent, we have no policies against tenants who claim benefits and never advise landlords to decline tenants who claim the benefits they are entitled to. We recommend that landlords consider all prospective tenants on their individual circumstances and offer tenancy creation support to all landlords, regardless of who they choose to proceed with.We do allow landlords to list their property as 'Accepts DSS Income' so that tenants on benefits are able to quickly identify properties where they will have a great chance of being accepted. We also pass all enquiries from benefit claimants onto landlords, regardless of what they have stated in their listing. With all that said, if you have concerns about a specific listing, you can report this to us by using the "Report Listing” function on the listing in question - our team will then look into the listing for you.Thank you again for your review and, if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly from here:https://www.openrent.co.uk/faq#i-have-more-questionsBest wishes,Joseph and the OpenRent team

TrustpilotBrilliant service always
Brilliant service always. The advert is easy to place online and is still there ready to edit when that tenant moves so you can easily increase the rental price and add more photos. My tenant gave me notice on Thursday evening I placed the advert on Friday afternoon and let it to the first of 4 who enquired on Saturday .

TrustpilotWould recommend.
I have used OpenRent three times when looking to rent my properties. I find it much more involving than using a traditional letting Agent. It provides greater control of the whole process and ensures you can select the tenant you like most from the application. Although not absolutely perfect and can be difficult to navigate when used infrequently, the system offers a better experience (in my opinion) to that of working with traditional agents.I will continue to use OpenRent going forward as it suites my way of working.

The contract between landlord and openrent is to advertise property for 3 months. Openrent was cheating, they pause advertising after 100 applicants which is one month or so.

Hi,Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that you weren't satisfied with your recent experience with OpenRent. We rely on the courtesy of our landlords when communicating with tenants on our platform, and I'm sorry to hear that we were let down here.We provide tenants with the option to chase up with enquiries they make and report listings where the landlord's are unresponsive so we can ensure they are still available. When a landlord remains unresponsive their listing is removed. Please feel free to contact us directly at info@openrent.co.uk if you have any further questions regarding the listing in question and we will respond within a working day.Apologies again for any inconvenience this has caused.Kind regards,Lisa and the OpenRent team

TrustpilotWould I recommend OR? Yes absolutely.
Was recommended to use Open Rent by a friend who had rented through them and I was so pleased I did. The website leads you through the process in a clear and concise manner and explains every decision. When I needed further clarification, I called Open Rent and they answered quickly and I spoke to a real life person who answered my query! Wow! Old fashioned customer service! I would definitely recommend OR, they have saved me money and I found the most lovely tenants. Thank you!

TrustpilotMissing the human buffer
A private landlord-tenant relationship and even more so, a landlord - prospective tenant relationship is one that is based on a fundamental value = mutual 'dis'trust. I've been an owner and a tenant and often BOTH at the same time, in various countries, and I can safely say based on my personal experience of both ways of living, that having a human being intervening between these two parties who have no love or trust between them, rather than a button to be clicked, is far more reliable.I've given them a 4 rating only because the only single experience I've had with Open rent did get me a viewing quickly, while agents are notoriously hard to contact and respond. But as a prospective tenant, the benefits stop there. Of course, as a landlord, the situation is reversed. We saw a certain property in the afternoon and even before we had time to think about it, we got another message saying that the owner has informed OpenRent that the property is rented out. The landlord had kept a window open that afternoon, and we arrived early, only to be told that we were already the 7th people seeing the property... in 1 hour. He was almost boasting about it to our face! This has so far not been the case with regular agents who are, if nothing else, at least discreet! The market is decidedly in favour of landlords. OpenRent, by bringing dozens of people to the landlord's doorstep within a short span of time, makes it even more so. The use of an open sharing technology platform shifts the advantage heavily in the landlords' favour.Based on the reviews, I see what I had always expected to see - the landlords love OpenRent, tenants not so much.. Landlords love that they can quickly get dozens of tenants and viewings within a short time, and for the same reason, getting through a successful tenancy application for a prospective tenant through OpenRent is virtually impossible, for the same reason.. Because OpenRent exposes a property to everybody, in a very short time, any one potential renter's chances of getting through are like winning a lottery. The owner, getting a much wider field to pick and choose from, can also reject potential tenants on the slightest of whims.. and besides there a much wider field of tenants lining up outside his property to choose from, rather than from human agents.Naturally, the owners love that heady ego-trip this feeling of superiority over dozens of potential tenants hoping to get into their property gives them, while a huge number of tenants end up feeling like rejected material, within a very short period of time. With an agent there is a person who will help you through this situation, sometimes practically, or at least, psychologically. With a software platform, there's none.My first experience with Open Rent will assuredly be my last.
