TrustpilotAppalling lettings after service - rude and breached contract
Whilst Sal and his team at Hastings lettings were really helpful in getting us to the sign contract stage, the after service by Louise Norris is shocking and Hastings breached the contract. We made it clear from our viewings that it must be a condition that a professional clean had to be done prior to us moving in, as the previous tenant had a cat and my husband is very allergic to cat hairs (particularly important as he is immunocompromised due to a bone marrow transplant). This was written into the contract to be done by the agent or owner. On arriving on Saturday to pick up the keys, the handover was one hour late. (and only one set of keys were provided even though two of us were on the contract) Once in the flat, it was obvious the clean either hadn't be carried out or was done appallingly. There were lots of cat hairs on the headboard and sofas and hairs, crumbs and dust everywhere. My husband desperately tried to contact Hastings to make sure cleaning was going to happen that day. No luck. We had to find alternative accommodation that night and in desperation found a cleaning company to come out on the Sunday. When we contacted Hastings on the Monday to give them the cleaning bill, Louise was downright rude, obstructive and unhelpful. She would not accept that as per the contract " Clause 12. It is agreed between the Landlord and the Tenant that the following conditions are to be provided forthe property prior to commencement of tenancy: Property to be professionally cleaned" that this meant that the flat would be cleaned at their expense before we moved in. She did not care at all that the flat was dirty, which we have photographic evidence of, and behaved as if we should either put up or shut up. She refused to say what we should have done under the circumstances other than move in and sign to say it was dirty. If it wasn't for the fact that my husband was starting a new job on the Monday (hence the move), we would have walked away from the letting (and legally been able to do so as they had breached the contract from the start). Louise would not listen to us and would not accept that Sal had agreed over the phone on the Saturday key handover day that the cleaning bill would be paid by Hastings (who presumable would charge the previous occupant). Really disappointed with the very unprofessional way they run the after sales.Here is the contract quote Clause 12. Hastings Int is my tenancy company which have been absolutely amazing and easy to communicate with, compared to other letting agencies. Hastings International have been able to find good reliable tenants for our properties for more than 10 years. There has been minimal vacancy rates. Both Tom Backlog , Mark Porter and their teams have been very helpful at all times. They also assisted us with minor refurbishments to the property when securing tenants. The rental team is very good and update us whenever we require remote action or decisions.

I request that Hastings refrain from representing me in any payments to third parties without my explicit consent.
