Avoid CityRooms for your own good!

My first renting experience when I moved to London couldn't have been worse, all 'thanks' to CityRooms, a very unprofessional and untrustworthy letting agency. They charged us for every little thing and they even tried to rip us off by claiming that we left the room in a bad condition. Because of our negative experience all throughout the tenancy period, I made sure I took plenty of photos of the entire room right after we've cleaned the room and we were getting ready to leave, just to have digital proof of the excellent condition the room was left in. When I sent them the photos to show them they were lying, the immediately retracted their claim and refunded use the entire amount of the deposit, which should've happened in the first place anyway.

AVOID CITY ROOM! AVOID CITY ROOM! My boyfriend and I contacted them via a room searching site and booked an appointment. They promised we will meet in the office, because from there the room is only a 10 minute walk, so we can check it easily. In their office it came true, that the double room we wanted is just for Single use only and they simply lied about it just to trick us into the office. They tried to convince us to consider other rooms with a worse location and condition. They also forgot to mention in the advert that the minimum stay is 9-12 months and for both of us it would cost nearly 1900GBP with all the fees and deposits and the rent isn't covering all of the gas and electricity bills. My friend and I reached them through a room search website. We made an appointment to see the room we liked, we agreed to meet at their office, because it is only a 10-minute walk away. When we got there, it turned out that the room, although it was advertised with a double bed, would still only be rented out to one person. Then for half an hour they showed us rooms in worse condition and location than what we looked like. Although there was no mention of a minimum time for living there in the ad they put up, they confronted him inside that if we moved in, we would have to live there for 9-12 months. For this, the two of us would have had to pay a "small" amount of around £1,900, including the deposit and other fees, so that the rent does not cover only part of the utilities.

Awful

Awful. I had to pay 300 pounds cause i was in a hurry to find a place in london and since the pictures were nice and the area perfect I decided to give it a go. DONT DO IT. even if they keep insisting that there are people from china calling for your room at the same time. Got to see the room and it was disgusting, the guy who was currently living there was smoking inside and did not wanted to move in a place like that. they said they were going to paint it over but how can you trust them? what is so annoying is that they own basically every room you'll find online on spareroom and easyroommate, so it would be very hard to find a room they don't manage.

Worst agency ever - They should be shut down.

Worst agency ever. They will lie to you on numerous occasions and not keep any of their promises. They will give you 2 days notice to move out after the landlord has sold the flat and they will not offer any assistance. If things go wrong, they will wait till eternity to fix issues and the apartments are awfully maintained. If you're willing to take a chance despite all these negative reviews, you deserve the awful service. The good reviews are only there because they offer a £5 monthly discount on rent if you left them a 5* review. Hence why the reviews are so skewed. The most corrupt agency ever and i've never been happier to see the back of them. Also you will NEVER see your deposit again!

RUN AWAY !!!! Don't waist your time!!! Appointment at 5 p.m. for a meeting at the agency before going to visit the rooms seen in one of their advertisements... the agent explained to me that they had other products of the same type to offer me in addition to the rooms of the announcement. Received at 6:30 p.m. by another agent who explains to me that the rooms for which I came are all rented (which I had not been told a few hours earlier in our discussions) and that there is no no other products of this type for rent in the desired area. In the end 1 hour 30 minutes of waiting for 0 visits. Big lack of professionalism and lies about the supposed other apartments available.

Can't believe it still exists

Can't believe this "agency" still exists after all the bad yet valid feedback and close to illegal ways of doing business.Everything you read about them in those 1-star reviews is 100% true no matter how unbelievable they sound. Everything from the dodgy manipulative ways of taking money from you as a deposit to view a potential (!) room, to troubles during your tenancy term. Even after 3 years of parting ways with these con artists we still get shivers remembering the experience. Won't go into details as pretty much everything was covered in the comments here, on Google Maps and AllAgents.co.uk My advice would be to just stay away from them as there's many to choose from in London, but this might be tricky as their main target demographic is vulnerable and unaware freshers (mainly Spanish/Portuguese) that get brainwashed by the managers. Stay away and don't believe the fake 5-star reviews.

Terrible and poor service!! stay away

Terrible and poor service!!! Bad management!!! I paid for the room 1 week in advance and when i opened my room on check in there was someone living there. They said i have to look for the accommodation elsewhere since room is not ready, the lady who was packing her staff was not even in hurry. When i disagreed they said i can clean the room myself and they pay me GBP30. I was shocked!! The manager argued with me and didn't do anything to help. Disgusting

Manipulative, Unethical and Dishonest - Stay away!

They are basically never straight with you! You cannot see any room without paying and they never give your deposit (TO SEE A ROOM) back! They have a lot to hide! I contacted them after seeing a room on SpareRooms enquiring about availability. I did not receive any answer for my question, but asked to visit their office, where I was pushed to "like"a room (after a long process as they did not have any rooms matching with my criteria what for I was also bullied "picky"), then I was asked to pay deposit as I could't see the room without placing an "offer" on it. Of course they do not refund your money, if after you decide not to take it!At the end, I was forced to move that deposit into a contract of minimum 1 months. Finally I booked a room with them, but 1 week before moving in (!) I was told that their tenant wants to stay, so they cannot give me that room. Again, I was offered from their amazing "2000 rooms available on the market" and their were really keen to push me into it, but when I kindly explained that I need my money back, they disappeared and went hardly approachable! All way through I experienced a really unethical, manipulative, and bullying, disrespectful manner. Absolute waste of time! The most unpleasant experience with an agency ever in my life!

ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A BUSINESS - SCAM ARTISTS THE LOT OF THEM

Honestly the most unpleasant experience I've ever had in my 7 years of renting. LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS, they speak for themselves. Any 5 star reviews are written by staff, I actually have proof of this, I found the same profile photo used for a google 5 star review as on the Facebook of the agent I was speaking to!!And most embarrassing of all, he was complimenting himself in the fake review while using a different name!!!!Absolute joke of an agency, avoid at all costs

DO NOT GO NEAR THIS AGENCY!

It doesn't take a genius to realise that you should avoid this agency - the reviews say it all. Please read this in full so you know what you're dealing with!I dealt with this unprofessional lot for 6 months and it was 6 months too long. Incredibly unhelpful and downright LAZY staff. Walking into their office feels like I'm walking into a hostel. Staff ignore you whilst they play Solitaire (yep, happened) or chat amongst themselves in Italian. Our first time there to look at places we waited 2.5 hours to talk to one specific staff member, why on earth the other 7 staff members couldn't serve us is beyond me. I asked repeatedly if someone else could help but no, I had to speak with that specific person. When I voiced my frustrations with this they'd simply make a snide remark in Italian and laugh. Downright rude and disrespectful. When we saw a place we "liked" we were asked to put down bond then and there (at 8:30PM at night no less) - so the agent drove us to an ATM and then had us hand over hundreds of pounds in the middle of the street. I signed my contract on top of his car (at this point it sounds like I'm making this up but I'm not).Over the next 6 months we reported an unkept garden with over 60cm of grass which was meant to be cut, a busted sensor light in the garden which was never fixed (the glass lid actually fell on my head whilst I was sitting outside, I had a bruised forehead for 6 days), two thirds of the lights in my room were out for 4 out of 6 months, one light was out for the entire time I was there (I spent 2 nights in a hotel just to have lighting because they were too busy to fix it), clogged drains, an incredibly unhelpful cleaner (we had to clean the house after she left as she only put our dishes away and cleaned the bathroom - poorly), a dead door bell (which was never fixed), the list goes on...I'm not a fussy person but having a working light in my bedroom is kind of imperative.I requested receipts for my credit-card payments for rent every month, out of the 6 payments made I received 2 invoices after countless emails. I can't even begin to count the amount of emails I sent which were subsequently ignored. We were told the cleaner would come fortnightly, she came every 3-4 weeks for an hour (for a 4 bedroom house!). We were told bills were included when they were actually capped and we all received bills to pay extra for electricity. We were told the replacement light fitting for outside had been ordered and was on its way (that was 5 months ago). These guys are LIARS!Emails go unanswered, telephone calls are a waste of time, and going to the office directly requires 3 hours out of your day whilst they sit there giving themselves manicures and high fives.I'd also like to add that the only 5* review on here from "Joe Smith" is quite clearly a fake account created by a CityRooms agent - seriously, if you're going to try and bump your rating up try 3 or 4* as this review reeks of BS amongst the ocean of 1* reviews. Dipsh*t.DO NOT GO HERE! You'll thank me later.

AVOID THIS AGENT AT ALL COSTS

AVOID THIS AGENT AT ALL COSTS. Please read and take note; I read the bad reviews and thought I would give Cityrooms the benefit of the doubt but I wish I hadn't! Similar to others, Brigita tried to force me to put a deposit down on a room which I had not seen. Do not do this. When I moved into the room, it had not been cleaned - there were stains all over the carpet, dirt and dust as well as dirty bedsheets and other items left from the previous tenants. Cityrooms did not provide me with a check-in inventory and so I wrote to them to advise them of the mess left by previous tenants. I took pictures of all damage that was there when I moved in and sent these all to the Cityrooms. They acknowledged this and said my concerns would be put on file. When my tenancy was ending, I cleaned the room from top to bottom. It was substantially cleaner than when I moved in. I sent photo's to the Cityrooms to show the state of the Property and how clean it was. Despite this, they still tried to deduct cleaning fees from my deposit and did not provide any explanation or evidence for this. I chased them for weeks before they responded. When they eventually did, they had hidden a number of items underneath my bed and tried blaming me for leaving a mess under the bed. None of the items were mine. I again chased them multiple times a week asking for them to prove that the items were not there before I moved in. They couldn’t do this but refused to answer my emails and kept hold of my entire deposit.I chased them for three months and eventually was forced to refer the matter to the mydeposits arbitrators. I submitted all of my evidence to the arbitrators and finally after six long months from moving out, I have finally received my full deposit back from the arbitrators who agreed that I had not done anything wrong and there was no way Cityrooms could justify taking my deposit. DO NOT USE THIS AGENT.

ROGUE TRADERS!

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PPL!!! Rented a shared flat for my son who is at uni, was told bills included & common areas cleaned weekly by cleaners, once we paid deposit we were sent contract which stated that bills were capped.A week after moving in the internet was gone, after numerous calls/emails was informed that cityrooms had forgotten to pay BT, so waited for 10 days for service to resume. Cleaner only turned up every 3 weeks or so.Four months later again the same issue with internet bill not been paid, so no service for another 14 days.Upon ending the tenancy & handing back the keys, we sent in pictures of the room having cleaned/hoovered&mopped the room,However instead of returning our deposit they wanted to withhold money for cleaning the room & common areas which were supposed to be cleaned by their cleaner & also for doing an inventor. The T&C's of the contract are worded to suit this purpose, so unless you are a solicitor they have got you & your deposit, so be aware.

ABSOLUTE SCAM AND RIP-OFF

Stay away from city rooms, worst experience I have ever had in my life! This scam of an agency doesn't even deserve 1 star (ALL THE 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE FAKE I GUARANTEE YOU)Having lived in one of their "best" and most expensive properties in Chelsea I have been unable to use the bathroom, water from which was dripping from the ceiling of one of the bedrooms, the heating was broken and half of the lights in the house didn't work. Most importantly, I haven't been able to sleep at night thinking that the entire house would collapse because of how much it was shaking when the washing machine was on or as trains or cars went by.You will be stuck in a shithole of a house without any basic amenities. Nothing ever gets fixed, weekly cleaning service is non-existent and they rip you off in any way they can while providing zero service in return. Avoid, avoid, avoid!P.S. Jorge Sanchez, please don't bother commenting on here telling me how sorry you are to hear about my terrible experience! Reply to my emails and fix the house instead!

The Worst Agency Ever !!

Basically the worst agency you could imagine. They don't answer emails if they don't like to solve the issue but if they do answer, it is with major delays. Receiving an automatic reply to your email is very common and calling the service department doesn't help you either cause they are usually not in the office when they should be. The window of my room couldn't be opened and they took 4 months to finally find a solution for it. They would send people with key to my room without even asking me and when I put a bad review for them, they emailed me about the review and asked me to change it or remove it!! We were 8 people in the house and at the end, all of us were worried about our deposit as cityrooms says your deposit is secured with the mydeposit.co.uk but they give deposit back in more than 2 to 5 weeks and it means that your deposit is no longer secured and you have to apply to court to get it back if you don't agree with the deduction. Basically they are nightmare the whole time you are their tenant!

I'm looking at the published reviews and it's incredible to me that anyone can thank these incompetents for anything. They rented us two rooms already at an exaggerated price for the hovel they were, and then they added a lot of absurd concepts until they increased the figure to something simply exorbitant. My current house is twice as big and I pay less than the one in cityrooms. Please, listen to me and don't even talk to these very well-trained bastards (based on my experience, they will lie to you and directly lie to you to get any rubbish from you and by the time you realize it it will be too late).

Avoid City Rooms at all costs!

Do not go anywhere near City Rooms! I wish I read the reviews prior to my experience with them. They are awful, rude people that only care about taking your money, and as much as they possibly can. They will lie to your face to get you into a contract, which they will then continue to lie about later. They increased the prices after 3 months, after telling us this wouldn't happen - forcing us to leave the property and find elsewhere to live. They rip you out of a deposit, which they also take a considerable time to repay (way longer than they say). They are awful at replying to emails, constantly forwarding you onto other people & never taking responsibility for themselves. The staff are the rudest i've ever come across - shouting and being abusive over the phone. Mouse droppings were also found when we moved in, cleanliness is something they are clearly not aware of! Overall, avoid City Rooms at all costs.

Steer clear

Avoid this company. They only care about getting your money. The properties are over-priced and grubby. Rental price went up after 3 months having been told it wouldn't. Rip-off merchants. If something goes wrong in your property expect a long delay before they come to sort it out. You will spend all your time calling or emailing them with any issues you might have. Takes ages to get the deposit back. They are not interested in anything you have to say, the staff are indifferent and sometimes actually rude. The list of complaints could go on for ever but the headline here is avoid them.Avoid City Rooms

They would prostitute their grandmothers for an extra £20 per week. Jorge Sanchez, the most senior manager, is a cretin who will lie to your face without any sense of honour or shame. A disgusting excuse for a human being and a cancer on British society. If you take up a tenancy with them, you absolutely WILL NOT get your deposit back and will have to go to their offices before they bother taking complaints seriously. Go anywhere else but here.

Very low level service. Contract shown only after I had all the money, and luckily I made a short term! Breathing down your neck and super available until they have all the money then they disappear and you have to go through endless hassles to be able to contact them... if you can! £30 deliberately taken from the deposit for unspecified "closing costs", inserted in a note in the contract that you are practically forced to accept because you have now given all the money. Bills not included but with "top up system" with ridiculous and insufficient contribution from the agency and moreover refunded only at the end of the month! What does it entail? that if you don't check the money available in the topup card account every day or some roommate uses it slightly more intensely the day before you are left without... and this has turned into 4 freezing showers at 5 in the morning in just over a month of contract. I entered the room and I was without light for 3 days, and without a lock on the door for 10!!!!! I had to use the suitcase lock code to keep money, computers, etc. inside when I was away from home!! I enter the house with the reassurance of having a fast internet connection, and I find myself without connection for 23 of the 35 days of the contract! The contract, in pdf copy only, available only after having paid the admin fee deposit and month's rent, upon delivery of the keys, which forces you to sign and accept everything that is written (even the most absurd things) for Don't risk not seeing all the money you've already paid! The deposit is returned (not in full because they always withhold something) in 2-5 weeks.. Terrible experience. I only regret not having googled the agency first where I could have seen all the terrible reviews it has! Never again!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Avoid CityRooms at all costs! From the very beginning their lack of communication, replying to my emails very late, having to call up to 5 times a day, several times a week just to have certain things sorted out, things that THEY were responsible for (no internet connection even after 6 weeks of moving in etc.). They're rude on the phone and lie to your face, that's why I'm now only using emails so that I have proof of our conversations. They charge you for every little thing and they spam you with emails even 5 days prior to the payment due date (in spite of always paying my rent on time), while their website online payment system is always faulty and gives errors - they once charged me twice and took me 2 weeks to get my money back, while having to pay overdraft fees to my bank because the double-payment caused my account to go into overdraft. I had to call several times a day, every single day for 2 weeks to get my money back and every time there was someone else on the phone because they were trying to avoid me. They're an unprofessional, rude, low-quality and poorly managed letting agency! Will never use them again and will tell everyone about their poor services and high prices!

Avoid at all cost!

Really bad and expensive flats, they make you pay a lot of money for flat that doesn't have dining room and has the mold and dirt everywhere. The flat in which I stayed was very dirty, neglected and old. They say there is a cleaner every week, but she rarely comes and when she comes (once every 1/2 months) she doesn't clean properly. Of course we try to speak with the agency about the problem, but they didn't care at all and didn't resolve the problem. In the bathroom there was a lot of dust sticked everywhere, impossible to remove cos it was there since too much time. Moreover there was mold everywhere in the bathroom, above all in the shower/bath, a very nightmare. No place to eat lunch/dinner cos they converted the dining/living room in a twin bedroom. I always eat in my bed. No assistance at all when we have a problem, bit of course they pretend the rent in the exact day, otherwise you have to pay a fee.Deposit too high and they will re-give you after 5 weeks since when you leave the flat... absurd! Worst experience ever!!
