No morals. Avoid

Property agents generally get a bad rep and my experience with Chestertons rammed home why. I put in an offer on a property marketed through them. I made clear at the time that I was walking away from another property I was also considering. My offer was accepted by the seller on whose behalf Chestertons was acting, at which point I had assurances the property had been taken off the market. A few days later I get a call from Chestertons to inform me I had been gazumped. Not only had I now lost this property, I had lost the other one I had been considering. Utterly despicable behaviour. On top of that the agent I had been dealing with through the process was suddenly “ill”, meaning a new agent had to step in and do their dirty work of breaking the news. Avoid. All morals out the window with these ones.

Awesome service

Betsy Slawson helped me with lease out my flat and I had such a good experience as a landlord. She hit the ground running with sourcing tenants and arranging viewings. She was super responsive and ensured she kept me posted on progress. She also gave me frank and helpful recommendations as to where to set the rent, the attractiveness of the offers, quality of tenants etc. I have always been very skeptical of real estate agents and had multiple bad experiences, but having Betsy help me through the process was really a great blessing and would definitely try to work with her again if I get the chance.

Very smooth and pleasant experience

Very smooth and pleasant experience. The communication with Stav was great and he was very helpful. The only bad experience is that Chestertons operates with TenantShop. They will call you a thousand times even though you decline the service and in our case they processed an electricity company change without our consent. It would be great not having to deal with the TenantShop and only with Chestertons. Highly recommend Chestertons as an agency.

We had seen a house twice

We had seen a house twice, place was fine and we liked it. We made an offer to owner but the agent was quite weird and didn't want to pass it to them. My spouse was arguing with her ( agent) , as she didn't want to provide a form to us. I find it's funny as they ( agency ) work in their own way. They can easily refuse or to say it's already accepted an offer and you can see in a week it's available again. Do they really think tenants are idiots out there? With particular one I would say the girl apparently thought she was renting her own one. The place BTW is still available.

Very good service from the team, especially Suzan and Thomas. Tenants were found quickly, helped with the paper work and organised EICR in time before tenants moved in. Getting new keys cut and arranged handyman when we had a couple of stressful days before tenancy began.

I asked Chestertons to value my house in Barnsbury last Autumn 2023 and give me their views generally on the Islington property market - but not intending to sell until 2024. Scott arrived on my doorstep and gave me an irresistibly energetic, knowledgeable (he’s worked in the area for ca 16 years) and persuasive account of his and his firm’s expertise & experience. There followed a whirlwind of activity with his delightful sales team efficiently setting up a WhatsApp group and notifying me of viewings and offers all done with great good humour. Within days there was very serious interest from several potential buyers. My house sold incredibly quickly. I can’t recommend Scott and his team highly enough!

We used Kew branch. From start to finish, Daniel, Lizzy and Natasha were great. Professional and they sold our flat which had been on market for a long time within two weeks. Common sense approach to marketing and proactive. They also handled our next purchase and helped to chase things through do we met stamp duty saving. Very pleased.
