Chestertons showed me a flat with toilet that doesn’t flush properly

Had a viewing on the Chiswick High Road yesterday just near Kew Bridge. The agent herself was very polite. My issue is with the actual property and the state of it during the viewing. For context, the monthly rent is £1375.The place was so dirty it was shocking. She said two boys lived there. The toilet was the biggest problem. When looking around the place we came to the toilet and the water was dark brown! I asked the agent if the flush worked. I tried it myself and the brown water didn’t go away and clearly the flush was lacking any power. It put me off dinner to be honest. How does this agency not make sure that basic things like toilets are working properly? Is that not a priority anymore? Whenever I’ve rented, there are always checks that take place from time to time. How is it even appropriate to show prospective tenants a place and say it’s available immediately but have a grimy toilet that doesn’t flush properly and still not fixed? I felt like my time was wasted.

Chestertons Islington offers a great service for landlords. The team take a very personal approach. Over the years Julia Chajdiakova has been great support. She takes time to check the flat, making sure the flat is in good shape that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide are there and working. And she gives feedback and is there to advise. It is a caring approach that supports tenants and landlords. I appreciate her honesty. It combines an old fashioned warmth with excellent administration.

We listed our sale with Scott, who was efficient and helpful with arranging photos, floor plans, EPC etc. Crucially he did a great job of explaining and guiding through different options for pricing the listing, as well as maximising impact during viewings. Their sales team all familiarised themselves with the house ready for viewings. William in particular was quick off the mark getting people in and had soon matched us with a suitable buyer. He did an outstanding job in intermediating negotiations on price. Chestertons were also great in the phase after "offer accepted": they gave excellent guidance on what needed to be done, and helped answer questions from both buyer and seller well. In short, not only were they great on the necessary mechanics of the sale, but they were also really helpful in the help, support and guidance they gave throughout. Thanks Will and Scott.

We appointed Chestertons after a personal recommendation from friends with whom they sold their property. We had already had a very negative experience with one of Islington's most famous Estate Agents (they know who they are!) and so terminated that contract and went to Scott and his team at Chestertons instead. It was a breath of fresh air with a totally managed service, excellent sales team and regular feedback and communication. It was the opposite approach to the previous agency and one which was successful at selling our house at asking- price. Guy found the perfect Buyer after many client viewings and their persistence and self-assurance maintained our confidence throughout the process (which is stressful enough anyway). Not once did Scott even consider reducing the price of our house as it had been priced properly in the first place, whereas the previous lot simply wanted to keep dropping the valuation until someone offered! We are grateful to Scott, Guy and the other members of the team at Chestertons; they got the job done!

I can highly recommend Chestertons

I can highly recommend Chestertons! I have worked with a few letting agencies but this experience really stood out. My agent, Jasmine Birungi went out of her way to answer all of my questions promptly, and supported me throughout the process with a smile. Chestertons operates a portal to upload and store documents, see where you are & what tasks you have, which makes it seamless. The move-in went similarly well, with ample communication on availabilities and all.

We rent our flat through Chestertons. I have found the rental teams efficient and professional. The flat has been rented since 2011. This year we have decided to also try their managagment team. We were just assigned a new Managing Agent- Olympia Grigoropoulos. I have found her to be quick to deal with things, a great communicator. Amanda has been property manager for our flat for some 10 years and has always given us excellent service and been available.
