Sorry found the staff aggressive. I called to enquire about a flat I saw advertised with a board. I was asked several questions. when I asked if I could have some details about my enquiry I got passed to the manager who slightly was slightly better but still not a good customer experience. Owner how are you paying for a service like this?

Barnard Marcus managed a rental…

Barnard Marcus managed a rental property of mine. They were very slow to react when there were any faults at the property so eventually I took on the management directly. The tenant had paid their deposit into a tenancy deposit scheme organised by Barnard Marcus. On moving out both I (the landlord) and the tenent tried to get the deposit back but 3 months on and many emails later they have still failed to facilitate the release. It is criminal

Incompetent and natural born liars!

Made an offer for a property in May 2022 via Barnard Marcus in Putney, which was accepted. We were hounded by their sales team to speed things up from our solicitors side. We were also constantly lied to regarding additional offers from other potential buyers after we were already half way through the purchase. We ended up changing solicitors and then our solicitor spent the next 3 months chasing the seller's solicitor trying to get information we required in order to progress. Barnard Marcus did not assist in anyway and it was only when I intervened did things start moving along in the last month. Unfortunately as Barnard Marcus and their client wasted 3 months doing nothing, we ran out of time and our mortgage offer expired. When our mortgage expired, our solicitor was still waiting for info from the seller's solicitor in order to progress. A total of 7 and a half months wasted.Now it's impossible to get a new mortgage with decent rates and the home we made an offer on is gone forever. Would I use Barnard Marcus again...not in a million years!!!

We rented a 2 bed flat in East Finchley…

We rented a 2 bed flat in East Finchley for a year from Barnard Marcus Muswell Hill Broadway. When we moved in there were still handymen painting and fixing. The flat was dirty and dusty and we had to clean windows,floors etc ourselves.No professional clean was offered.We vacated on 11 October 2022 and to date 27 November no return of our deposit and no reply to our report on the flat.They use a company called BEEHIVE HOME SERVICES LTD a disolved company run by a Hirstina Lazarova who is their "professional home inspector " and " professional home cleaner " a huge conflict of interest.A very unpleasant experience dealing with Barnard Marcus.

Flat given in disgusting conditions

I write this review two weeks after moving into a flat managed by Barnard and Marcus. The previous tenant left the flat in disgusting conditions, we found dead bugs under the gas hobs, a stinking kitchen full of flies, dirty walls and floors, a stained old mattress, an old washing machine, and I could go on for a while. The agency has so far done absolutely nothing to help us, and the responsibility just goes from one person to the other. We had to clean everything by ourselves and even had to pay somebody to come and collect the mattress. We called, wrote emails and even went in person to complain (apparently the agent 'wasn't there' but was somehow replying to our email), we tried to ask for the landlord's contacts, and we are still here waiting for somebody to come and assess the damage. Avoid at all costs.

Many years ago I used Barnard Marcus as my agent and had a very bad time of it because of there under hand dealing. The beginning of this year I tried to buy another home and had to deal with them again as the seller appointed them as their agent. Barnard Marcus never told me it was a probate sale and would take a lot longer to deal with. I have been left in the dark for weeks, they take weeks to reply and most times do not bother so I'm doing all the chasing. never again would I use Barnard Marcus.

Avoid like the plague!!!

As letting agents this company is the asbolute worst. 1. Each aspect of your account will be dealt with by a completely different person. So the person dealing with your certifications will not be the same person that deals with your tenants and this person will not be same person who monitors any works or repairs. I have had 16 people contact me in the space of a year, sometimes about the same matter as they don't even communicate with each other. 2. Expect nil responses to your queries. Emails will be ignored, phones will not be answered and messages will be taken but never followed up on. Even when you have arranged a specfic time for a meeting, expect a last minute note to say they can't make it or for them to just not turn up at all. 3. Expect nil accountability. Even when they know for a fact that they are at fault, and have in some cases caused you serious financial loss, they will not in any way change their approach to customer service and continue to work in their frustrating and, in my opinion, negligent ways. EXAMPLE: My tenant wished to vacate the property. I was not informed of this. 3 MONTHS later I find out he has laid a complaint against ME for not responding in a reasonable time. In the midst of sorting this out I lost 3 months rent for which Barnard Marcus refused to take any responsiblity. If I could give this establishment no starts I would. Trust me, save yourself a lot of pain and grief and look anywhere else for assistance with renting your property. No one at that company cares about their clients and if you get out without losing a considerable amount of money count yourself lucky.

Don’t be fooled by the big name Bernard…

Don’t be fooled by the big name Bernard Marcus. They have been nothing but unhelpful over and over again. Absolute shambles if you ask me.We used the south Croydon branch- they were so friendly during the viewing process and pre signing of contract.Once the contract was signed, we became invisible. It’s beyond difficult to get through to the property manager to get things fixed in the house.Broken tiles on the floor which sharp edges, noted in the inventory took almost 4 months before it got fixed.We have called property management for almost 2 months- our property manager (whom has changed multiple times) is always busy, in a meeting, will call back, on leave..one excuse or another to get us off the phone but they NEVER call you back.You will wait and wait and wait..Beat believe, they will never call you back.You hear the lady whom picks up the phone sighing down the phone when you explain that I’ve called several times but no one calls back.One time I called property management, they couldn’t put me through to the property manager because they didn’t recognise my address on their system..:shocking!They will sweet talk you into renting/buying but you’re definitely on your own after that.Now we have mice problem, droppings everywhere due to the gap in the skirting board. Someone came to ‘investigate’. However We cannot get through to the property management as to when the holes and gaps will be fixed or any update.We’ve had paint pealing off the wall since we moved in, still hasn’t been fixed. You can imagine how embarrassing that is when guests come over.They told us before we moved in that we have new roof in place, however after a couple months damp spots appearing on the ceiling. A professional was sent out who told us that the roof is very old and definitely has not been fixed since for multiple years…so we were lied to.Stay clear. Stay well clear.Less known letting agents may not be fantastic but at least they get repairs done in an efficient manner.

Go somewhere else

I rented a place with them a while ago from the Clapham Junction branch. All the windows in the living room were stuck but I was promised they'd be fixed before moving in. It took almost ten months and I had to complain to the council too. Apart from that pretty unprofessional, very unresponsive. For instance the day I had to move in, I had to chase the agent for the key. I was sent the contract to sign only the day before moving in. As soon as my contract ended I left. Now, almost one year after the end of my contract, they emailed me asking to pay for an outstanding council tax for a period of time I wasn't even a tenant..

Absolutely useless!!

Absolutely useless!!! In the process of selling my flat, they told me that everything is fine , buyers solicitors are happy with all the enquiries and ready to complete. I have cleared my flat of all my belongings ready for the buyer, and left the country. Two weeks passed and I get email saying that lender is not happy with some ground rent issues, which is apparently very common problem these days. Bernard Marcus never mentioned about this before, they kept it quite until last minute. All they're thinking is they money would get after sale. Sale fell through, and I took property of the market, asked them to take property from listing on right move, but to this day is still listed. Absolutely useless!!!

How this is still running is beyond me

This “estate agent” is a joke, me and my flatmate were meant to move into one of their flats and the agent agreed via text that the flat would repaired and the damp on the ceiling would be fixed before we moved. Low and behold it wasn’t and we never had access to the letterbox and the car park. After agreeing to an early tenancy we were informed one day at noon we were meant to give the keys back the SAME DAY when me and my flatmate work full time jobs and cannot get away from work easily. Also there is the matter that it has been nearly a month since we have given back our keys and we have not had the deposits back even though we have cleaned the flat of the previous tenants rubbish. Why people are still choosing these scammers is beyond me, they have taught me a very expensive lesson. I warn everyone not use them due to the stress they have caused me over the last 6 months.

Avoid - Unprofessional and incompetent

I don't even know where to begin with how truly terrible the Barnard Marcus Mitcham branch have been with out sale.- Manager just left without any notice.- Multiple offers accepted and buyers pulling out at the last minute due to a) mortgages not being accepted (being handled by Barnard Marcus) b) personal circumstances (no further investigation/reasoning given) c) not being given the correct information by the branch as to the status of the property.- Never received one single offer in writing as required BY LAW- Never providing feedback on viewings- woefully underprepared when conducting viewing. Heard them give the wrong information (fundamentally important info like the property is a leasehold and they told people freehold) - impossible to get hold of- consistently providing documentation littered with errors, that I have had to correct- one of their agents forwarded me an email containing the personal information of a potential buyer including private data that should be protected by themAnd this is just a snapshot of how terrible. I will be referring them to the property ombudsman as they have been nothing but unprofessional and negligent in the handling of our sale. We ended up appointing another agent and the contrast in professionalism and service is staggering.

The agent was extremely bad and the house in poor conditions

The agent was extremely bad. You moved The appointment from 5pm to 1.15pm. I was there at 1.08pm and waited outside as any doorbell was present. At 1.18 someone exited the building so I took advantage of the door open to get inside where I found the agent who told me was too late for an inspection. After I told him that I was just basically waiting and anyway only 4min late to the scheduled time, he still refused as he told me he was the only person working and had too many overlapping appointments. I had litterally to beg as I took a day off work to attend and travelled from zone 4 nw just for that apparently 10min appointment. Anyway. He got upset and annoyed but anyway convinced to show me the flat in litterally 2minutes. Which obviously was not sufficient. Never felt like that to a house view. Worse estate and service ever received. And by the way the house was in awful conditions and the tenants complained about structural problems and leeks that never been fixed.

Unprofessional. Unfortunately I was lied to. They even convinced me to move from another estate agent and claimed they had a list of people who wanted to rent. Thought I would give them a try and a complete waste of time. I gave them my feedback which I don't believe was welcomed. Hence why I will write here this negative experience. End of day.
