Do not recommend renting with WHBrown

I don't usually leave reviews but the horrific experience I had renting a property with William H Brown warrants letting others know how this company functions. From start to finish things were conducted haphazardly - no exit inventory was done when the tenant before me left and the inventory they did prior to me moving in was extremely inaccurate. When I moved in I found rodent faeces, mould, and general grime throughout the house. A couple of weeks after moving in, the shower was leaking badly through to the ceiling below, next to an electrical fixture. It took nearly 8 months to get them to sort it. At the end of my tenancy, the landlord made claims on the deposit for a number of inaccurate reasons, including damage left by the contractors they hired to finally do the repairs on the shower. Throughout my tenancy, getting through to the property manager with "Sequence" was difficult. I was often told they would call me back and never did. All in all they do not seem to have the best interests of tenants in mind and do a poor job of mediating with unresponsive landlords. I will not ever rent from them again and would never recommend anyone else to do so either.

I have just rented my first property! William H Brown have been amazing from first contact through to Teannants moving in! Bradley has made the whole process so easy! Not only did he come for an entail meeting on his day off to talk through everything, he was on hand at all times of day! (I work strange shift patterns) Bradley particularly has helped me with everything from my stupid questions through to legalities! I cannot recommend William H Brown enough! (Especially Bradley) thank you!

Couldn’t recommend William H brown more if I tried. When we made the decision to sell our house we had a few estate agents come out. WH Brown where by far the best. Nothing was never too much for them, to a point of coming out on a Saturday morning to start the process online. Ryan was incredibly professional and raised the bar significantly from the other valuers that I saw that week. We felt important and not just like we were important at the time of just signing terms! Then Charlotte came into the process! If you want to sell your house, you need Charlotte. We sold our house inside 10 days from launch. Thorough updates and communication was excellent throughout. Our chain wasn’t the most simple to say the least, but she was there all the way! When we come to sell again, I will definitely go back to them now having experienced buying and selling with WH Brown. If you want to sell you’re house in a complicated market then it’s WH Brown / Charlotte all the way!!! 100% recommend time and time again.

Initially had a mortgage appointment with Phil McConville and as a first-time buyer I was very nervous about the process. I have now successfully got a mortgage and I can't recommend Phil enough as a mortgage broker to everyone. I can quite confidently say that he was the best choice of broker and I has several appointments with other brokers. He supported me through all of the process and I would have paid much more just to ensure he was the person who helped me put the mortgage application in. He went above and beyond to answer all my questions, make time to answer calls when I needed help and chase me for documents which I had forgotten to send. I also spoke to Leah during viewings quite a bit, she was amazing and really helpful. Had a great experience with everyone in the team who I spoke to, great communication and would not hesitate to get in touch with them again.

I also needed help with some paperwork and Olivia took the time to come and sit with me. Would definitely recommend their services.

Swaffham - Aston 10/10

Aston at the Swaffham branch was fantastic. He made us feel really comfortable and answered all the questions we had. As first time buyers it can be all very overwhelming at times however Aston made the process very simple. 10/10. Also Tony and Emily at the Swaffham branch are great. All very friendly and they are there for you across your house buying journey.

I found a rental property online and…

I found a rental property online and asked for a viewing. The property was located over 100 miles from my residence and as a consequence of this the employee said that they had a recent video of the property, she sent it to me and it looked amazing so I put in an offer. Contracts were exchanged and then on the day of moving the agency contacted me to inform me that the cooker had been condemned and had to be removed from the property and that the landlord was now refusing to buy a cooker and that they were not required to provide one. As you can appreciate at this stage I was very upset, however the agents said they would get back to the landlord to see if she would change her mind. The contracts had already been exchanged and the landlord was refusing to honour her side of the agreement on the moving day when the arrangements had been made and I had moved out of my current home. I would not use this company at all they have no common decency and to add salt to the wound I have to take them to court to get my money back for the E first months rent and deposit because they think that I should be held to the fixed term contract and be liable for paying the rent nevertheless! Do not trust this company!!!

I would advise caution before approaching William H Brown in Lincoln. In my experience, the accounts section and front office staff were uncooperative, and I felt that customers were not treated with the respect and professionalism expected. Unfortunately, the overall service left me disappointed.

Do not use this estate agent

Do not use this estate agent. They did not act in our interest and quite openly attempted to bully us into selling our property at well under the market value. We had a ridiculous offer, which they just expected us to take. Zero effort made to push the property after the offer.

Called to enquire on properties they had, was invited into the office to talk through my requirements with an estate agent and for them to let me know what they have on their books that was suitable. Was asked on the phone if while I was there I’d like a quick chat with their mortgage advisor, yep sure a second opinion couldn’t hurt... Arrive, estate agent I was due to meet was not there, no one aware of my appointment… except the mortgage advisor of course! Who spent an hour of my life I’ll never get back giving me the hard sell. Complained before I left that I was there to meet an estate agent. So eventually a lady scribbled my number on a scrap of paper and promised to be in touch. Never heard from her again.

We had a terrible experience buying a new build property on Medland Drive, St John’s Village in Bracebridge Heath. After viewing the property twice and having our offer rejected, the sales manager Charlotte de Caux rang us back a few days later to tell us that our offer had subsequently been accepted. We instructed solicitors and applied for a mortgage, and went to view the property again to record snagging issues that we wanted to be rectified, which ranged from damage to the kitchen cabinets, a broken tile on the garage roof, a broken fence panel and damage and rot on one of the exterior windows amongst other things. We had been assured during previous viewings that any snags would be rectified as the property was new and we would have a warranty too. When we sent details of these issues to Charlotte, she responded by telling us that the property was ‘sold as seen’ and the developer would not rectify any of these issues. After some correspondence back and forth over the next couple of weeks, during which she was extreme rude and short to my partner on the phone and to me via email, we decided to withdraw the offer. We had been begrudgingly offered the chance to meet the developer at the property but with no assurance that any of the issues would be resolved as we had agreed a price below the asking price. I’m not sure who in their right mind would buy a new build and accept it in a damaged state, but that’s what was expected of us and we were treated like a total inconvenience from the point of being told our offer was accepted. Charlotte even went so far as to blame a colleague who had previously shown us the property and who had been very helpful, and stated she had now left the company, which I thought was extremely unprofessional, particularly when it was her who had neglected to tell us about the ‘sold as seen’ caveat when she told us the offer was accepted. I note that the property has now been further reduced to the price we had offered, and I would strongly advise anyone using William H Brown as the estate agent to ensure they have clarification on what state the house would be in when they move in to ensure they don’t have to endure the same abysmal customer service that we had to.

Thank you for your review. As your offer was lower than the asking price, the developer advised us that they were not prepared to pay for snagging works to be done and the property would be “sold as seen.” Unfortunately, this was not passed across by a staff member who is no longer with us for which we are sorry. That said, the developer advised he would be more than happy to meet with you on site to discuss further, but you then decided to cancel the meeting and withdraw your interest. We accept property purchases can be challenging at times although everything was still subject to negotiation as nothing had been decided. We wish you the best although trust this explains the situation. If you would like to discuss this further please contact me at complianceresidential@sequencehome.co.uk Kind regards, Lucy, Customer Relations.

William H Brown - Bury St Edmunds

If I could score higher, I would! Richie and Charlie are excellent estate agents. Richie was very personable and kept our information on file, so once a property came up to view that met our needs, he contacted us immediately. They were both extremely professional, friendly, and quick to respond to any queries we had. The best experience with estate agents we’ve ever had, hands down! Couldn’t recommend this team enough.

As a landlord I have been super impressed from the outset with the professionalism, care and attention that Curtis Key has shown myself and my property. From first contact to getting my new tenants moved into the property, the process took only 10 days from start to finish he has been fantastic. He is an absolute credit to the lettings team and a big part of the reason we are using William H Btown to let our property out. Thankyou again Curtis, you’ve been a star.

My experience using the mortgage broker services of William H Brown has been fantastic. They offered me a free consultation after a valuation I had with themselves, which I took not knowing if I would be able to get the mortgage I needed, just to get some advice. Paul Raby their consultant was incredible and got me agreement in principle that same day. He was excellent through the whole process and kept me up to date with everything I needed to know. So very happy with the service he provided me and so grateful for what he did.

Our recent experience of selling our house proved to us why we were glad to use a professional Estate Agent rather than cutting costs with on-line agents. William H Brown in Lincoln did a first class job for us from initial contact through to seeing the sale through to completion. Charlotte was an absolute star in her support to us and tenacity in driving our sale forward to completion. Professional throughout, but feel like we made a friend. Every penny of the agent fees we consider as being money well spent. Definitely 100% recommend.
