I bought a larger size one bed garden room apartment in the new Kelham Central development, as a BTL investor. I was really impressed with the concept of the build, and the Kelham area is really cool. Build quality is great, and customer service from the sales person (Vanessa) and the onsite person (Megan) has been great. The property attracted a lot of interest when it was marketed to rent, as its such a nice place to live.

We’ve recently moved in to a new Citu home in the Climate Innovation District and absolutely love it. The contemporary finish is beautiful and the location is perfect - peaceful but with easy access to the city centre. During the buying process we found the Citu team really friendly and we were able to call regularly with questions about the building progress. As with many new builds, we did experience some delays. So, if you’re considering buying something here, just be prepared and know that in the end it’s well worth the wait! So happy. Big thank you to the team.

A natural space within the city..

Citu is a such a unique place, it feels like such a hub of community. With every visit and walk around the grounds I'm always spotting people sat chatting at Pig Love, tending their gardens or just talking on the bridge. To find this kind of natural-feeling space within walking distance of Leeds City centre is amazing.

I love my home in Little Kelham! I moved from a very old terrace in Hillsborough as I wanted a low maintenance home. My daughter was 1.5 years old and I was 35 weeks pregnant when we moved and it's been such an easy house to live in! Kelham island has a lovely community feel and our neighbours are all so friendly. We are also so close to the city centre, the trams and the ring road so it's easy to get about too. The house is light and airy and the dimensions are great. I'm especially glad we moved when we did in early 2022 as the triple glazing really helped us keep warm in the winter with a baby and toddler. I've fit more furniture in than I thought when I first viewed it. Having access to a shared garden is great with kids as they play with other kids on the block. I've now got a part time job with Citu, everyone has been lovely and friendly and the commute is very convenient!

I moved to citu Landing Place nearly a year ago, leaving a beautiful 5 bed Victorian semi with a big garden, near Kirkstall Abbey , to this 2 bed terrace - so it was a big change. But I felt settled straightaway, and I love living here. All citu staff have been unfailingly courteous, responsive, helpful. And I’m glad to say the house is excellent, only usual minor settling problems, all attended to. The fittings are high quality; triple glazed windows and balcony and Juliet balcony doors; hugely effective insulation; high ceilings; real scandi modern feel. So if you have the chance, do come and join us! I could write lots more but now, I’ll just say that I agree with every word of Katya’s review too.

Danielle has been instrumental in helping the process of buying our first home run smoothly. She has gone above and beyond to answer questions, sort out any issues and help us stay excited throughout what could easily have been a really stressful process (thank you!). Even at such an early stage in the development, you can tell from walking around just how much care has been employed in the design, the details and the innovation. We're looking forward to watching how the community and spaces grow around us over the next few years :-), Edit: 9 months after moving in. Citu have continued to be fantastic throughout the time we have lived here. We are so happy with our house, the spaces around us, and the friends we've made here. It's exciting watching the development change and improve over time. Moving onto a development before it was finished was initially a worry for us, but the benefits of buying early have definitely paid off for us. We have a great relationship with Citu as a company; they are a small developer, so we have always been able to speak to the person we need to speak to easily. If we have had any issues with our plot, they have been resolved for us quickly and efficiently. Super happy to be here!

Like numerous reviews below - we were initially keen and put down a deposit early on in the project - but luckily withdrew due to poor customer service and a kind of weird attitude that because CITU are progressive they are not obliged to be professional. Sad to see that our concerns were correct. Great idea but too expensive- most people can't afford these prices. Interesting that the recent five star reviews are not customers but associates.. odd that. In reply to your response below - that's also odd as we had plot 80 reserved in the first phase in 2018.

I have always had a great experience with CITU and the people that work there. While I do not live or work within the CITU developments, I have spent a significant amount of time on site, from attending open homes (and dreaming of owning one), to participating in community events like The Leeds Waterfront Festival and Piglove by the River (what’s better than sitting in the sun, in a quiet area of town a stones through from the city centre, indulging in a couple of beers/snacks served up by the happy staff of local independent businesses?!). I also attended a work event in The Space and met some staff (from finance to architects, and builders to sales) and everyone was very kind and welcoming. I have always been a big fan of CITU - the principles behind the community, to the execution (internally and externally).

Unfortunately our experience with Citu wasn’t great… so I’ve decided to write a fairly lengthy and honest reflection. Citu/ climate innovation project is a beautiful and incredibly designed and marketed development that easily catches they eye of pretty much anyone, sadly it seems as though the delivery and service is in a somewhat different league. We registered our interest in the development in June 2021, having been told the development would be completed in Feb/Mar of 2022. When the time came, we were informed barely weeks before that this was pushed back to July/ August, we were then told later that this was pushed to September and come September we were told it was pushed back to January 23. Without going into copious details, the customer service along the way was pretty poor, whether this is down to staffing issues, organisational problems, or just simple bad attitudes, I don’t really know, all I do know is that we received very little meaningful empathy throughout the process as well as no substantial apology. We have now successfully withdrawn from the development (with full refund) having recently found out there will be even further delays (of which a finish date has still not been announced to my knowledge). Other than the long completion delays, we also decided to withdraw from the purchase due to the hugely complained about aftercare/ build quality. We heard that the developers duck/ avoid contact regarding defects, to the point in which we saw one of the houses on the development fill one of their windows with a plea to Citu for a response on the issues with their property… as in it was like an A1 poster with big capital letters… I have noticed that Citu are barely (to put it lightly) completing a building before starting another, the second block of Airlofts has already started to take shape (which can now be seen as you drive past) which seems strange to say they have hundreds of people waiting to move into the first. The excuses we received for the delays were mostly procurement or delivery due to covid, I personally think this is a lie or a fragment of the truth given our experience and the reputation Citu seem to be building for themselves but I’m not a builder so don’t actually know. In summary, there are clearly plenty of people happy with what they got when they joined Citu, however from my experience, the communication is super bad, the completion dates are pretty much made up as they go and there are masses of 1* reviews for them backing most of what I’ve mentioned up. This review was based solely on my opinion and experience of the company. The development looks ace… but I would genuinely recommend you steer clear (even if you get woo’d in by the good sales and marketing like we did). I personally think their ethical/ sustainable and community vision is utter rubbish, other than using some recycled materials, they don’t seem to be doing much different than any other development.

RESIDENT REVIEW - one year anniversary of life here, from a family of four We love and treasure living here. On 25th March 2022 we were told that the deal to give us our new home was done. This also happened to be Mothers' day weekend and the eighteenth birthday of one of my sons. It was no accident that Citu staff had made sure of the connection of the events. This caring, thoughtful and kind attention to detail has been what we have gratefully experienced since the day we walked in to their office to find out about the homes. I have always been able to trust that Citu will look after us and after a year here, I have the happy experience of knowing that we are also well cared for by our neighbours. We are a household of young adults, teenagers and me, their mum. This is a wonderful place to be, for us all. As an example, here's a slice of our daily life - Yesterday I started the day with a hot drink with my daughter on our kitchen balcony, before she nipped off for her 10 minute walk to Leeds bus station to get her week day, daily bus to York. I then had a quick walk along the riverside , to get a much better coffee than I can make, from a fab local vendor at Leeds Dock. After that a bit of work on the back deck, then I met neighbours to do some community work followed by a walk to our local mini supermarket at Leeds Dock for supplies, and home. Yesterday evening I walked to climbing at our local wall and my daughter took a quick bus to the local aquatic centre for a swim. My 18 year old son is looking forward to his birthday this weekend, where he'll meet his friends at Leeds station to get the fun, and very useful, river taxi to Leeds Dock . They're then having a trip to the Armouries and going climbing at the wall. My other son, 21, is looking forward to a weekend walk from home along the riverside to Skelton Lake RSPB reserve and my daughter has already got the inflatable chairs ready for sitting outside of her bedroom on her back deck with her friends. I'm looking forward to all of this and to celebrating with family and neighbours at our local on site pop up bar. There really is happiness on offer, for everyone, here.

Abysmal company. As others have noted - market themselves very well but after sales care is non-existent . We have had multiple defects in our flat which we have repeatedly noted and reported , including but not limited to: - Cracked kitchen worktop , which is actually split on the sink rim. - ‘Knocking’ pipes in the bathroom every time the toilet/sink is used . - Excessive condensation on all windows- this has caused damage to the walls and further complex issues. - Paint marks and poor finishing of the bathroom door and kitchen worktops. - Skylight leaking ; leading to damage and mould . All of these issues have been inspected by a builder and confirmed independently ; then no further action taken and all communication just circles back to ‘confirming’ defects . Have to consistently chase to get any response and all responsibility is shirked - using the tagline ‘within design margins expected’ . There is zero accountability for their build quality and very little customer support . Even when you raise any issues collectively, things just get kicked further down the line. For instance, the entrance to our building has an intercom system, however this is not connected to the entrance door (which works on traditional lock/key). Collectively the residence raised the issue with Citu as we have not been able to use our intercom system, and after multiple emails communication we were told Citu would not fix this issue and this is the ‘design’ . Further to this is the extremely disappointing effort made to communicate with residents . Examples include : - Short term notice for making ‘essential work’ to the parking structure ; no explanation of what this is and an expectation to park elsewhere during said work . With no compensation or other parking offered . When we have paid £14000 for the parking spot . - Internet shortages - Cold water ; no notice or acknowledgment of this . - Long response times and vague circular replies when issues are raised . Blaming all but themselves. They market themselves as an ethical , sustainable company with a long list of awards . But once they get their money they are disinterested and have no accountability . The flats are in a brilliant location which masks citu as an incompetent, unprofessional company who do not care for their clients. They hide behind covid as an excuse to not be able to help yet they have workmen on site every weekday - and since we have been there they have put up a whole row of houses. Full disclosure ; my girlfriend owns the flat and I live there ( before I’m not on the books as a homeowner) Do not buy with citu.

We were early adopters to CID and have lived here for 2 years in March. For us the move and investment in the CITU vision was a real leap of faith, but we are so glad we did it. We love our home, and the community. Living in a developing community has challenges, but the ethos we bought into is still exciting. Buying into CITU for the personal touch.

Our experience of buying at Citu’s Climate Innovation District was a really positive one and we felt looked after throughout the whole process. As with all new build properties there has to be some flexibility from all parties as often there are unforeseen issues and delays along the way but communication is key and we feel Citu have done their best to deliver.What was amazing was the support from the entire community- we ended up living with a neighbour in her spare room whilst our property was completed. This enabled us to get to know how the house functions and also learn what problems there have been for people who bought their properties early on. I can say for certain that enormous amounts of improvements have been made and continue to be made as time goes on. A friend of ours who bought a new property in Castleford a few years ago from a large house building company commented that the finish of our house was well beyond their own. The night before we completed and moved in, we saw the two directors who live on site getting stuck in with Danielle from sales and the rest of the team, helping to clean our house. It was incredibly humbling to see the passion they’ve put into these properties and it’s these added elements which forge such a great community here at CID.

The service, information and house tours were very professional and friendly. We love the idea and concept of Citu Homes especially the community element. The modern interior of the home was something new which appealed to us. Our issue was the building had no built in storage solutions. This meant a two bedroom would soon become a one bed as the second room would have to be very multifunctional. Therefore it didn’t meet our requirements.
