TREACHEROUS & UNSCRUPULOUS

ZERO *. I too was assured that my money would be refunded if there was no sale. I was also assured that they had an interested private investor and that I should hurry to sign up. I specified the lowest price I would accept and that I wasn’t sure that I even wanted to sell. I was assured there was no risk. The offer I got for my 2-year-old luxury home was £385K, £100k less than I paid for it. I am being charged £1299 plus VAT for this non-service travesty. I have no option but to pay. BEWARE!! DO NOT SIGN.

Unprofessional company

I decided to sell my apartment with Bettermove, promised quick sale as they have a lot of investors on their books. No viewing, no offers and no strong leads so I decided to cancel within my 14-day cooling off period. Received a call the next day from Claire Manning, she was very keen to sell my place and again promised she could get this apartment sold. She wanted 6 months or my money back, which I agreed too. 6 months later no viewings, so I contacted Claire Manning who was less than helpful, she referred me to the Customer Care Team. My first email was on the 26/02/20 - after 33 emails, several telephone calls and a letter to head office I finally received my refund on the 20/6/20.Unprofessional, dishonest and poor customer care.

"Right To Cancel"

I exercised the "right to cancel" a day after agreeing to a contract with Bettermove/Dividebuy in accordance with their terms and conditions - and received an automated email response to acknowledge receipt.Since then they have sent me emails (reported as spam) and twice made unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account (the bank retrieved the money and blocked them from doing so again!).To cut a long story short because this company hasn't recognised that I have nothing more to do with them and recently sent me a payment demand letter with the threat of debt recovery agencies getting involved etc.. I've resorted to referring the case to the financial ombudsman. My deepest sympathies for anyone who is, legitimately, on the wrong side of this company. If it was possible the rating would be -5 stars. Even though the case is submitted to the ombudsman a very intimidating, in my view, "warning" email about escalating my breach of a credit agreement was sent to me today. I responded by saying if they take any "illegal" (in my view) action to retrieve what I do not owe them then I will be looking to take legal action.Alastair

What a great company

Before comming to bettermove I had no houses I owned. Because of better move I'm now the owner of 2 houses and I'll be pushing for more before this year is out. They have a great management team that are very helpful.Bettermove is a great company to work with to become a property owner I'm a 100% satisfied with the service provided by them. Bettermove is more than a property company the staff are friendly and can not do enough for you. Switching to bettermove has changed our lives and we are very greatful.

Well what can I say about Bettermove apart from the initial service was good, but there expectations on a selling price were in the clouds, we submitted several offers both realistic compared on how much work needed doing to bring up to a decent standard, but found myself chasing to see if the offers were acceptable so in my experience avoid

We are the latest to have the…

We are the latest to have the "Bettermove experience". Yes, we signed up, yes we were told the property would sell quickly, yes there were investors keen to purchase, yes we received an offer substantially below the asking price and yes we are still required to pay Divide Buy monthly payments of £99.00 even though the property has been removed from the market by Bettermove after the six month period. We agree with all the comments made by previous reviewers. Has anyone managed to get any monies returned by Divide Buy/Bettermove or any satisfactory resolution to the issues raised?

7 months - no viewings

They wanted an upfront fee, which I was told would be refunded if they didn’t sell my house in 6 months. After a delayed time to get photographs and a brochure made, we finally went to market, and I was expecting an abundance of interest from the panel of private investors they mentioned in the sales calls, guaranteed a minimum asking price sale etc. Not in my case - one sales update call in 6 months and no interest. At the end of the agreed 6 months, Bettermove removed my property from advertising , and detailed that it was in the terms of the agreement. When I asked for the advertising refund, they refused although it was specifically detailed in the agreement. Emails ignored calls unanswered. Had to follow their complaints procedure, which is long and slow - and they have failed to follow their own complaints procedure by stalling and ignoring my correspondence.

Wouldn't recommend to anyone

Wouldn't recommend to anyone. They are on the phone sometimes 2-3 times a day until sign up has gone past 14 day cooling off period. Then nothing except the odd question about the property. Not one viewing. When we complained that we weren't getting any feedback they were rude. Took their offer of credit so paying £100 a month to pay off £1000 that charge to market the property ( which is a joke). When we complained again and wanted to pull out they say they use a company for the loan and so nothing to do with them. The company they use us DivideBuy, obviously if we stop paying or withhold payment our credit rating will suffer and we cannot let that happen. Please please please don't let them suck you in!! If we try to write a review on their site they remove it.

BETTERMOVE are another of the hide behind the internet team by promising to SELL your property by saying to you, Come to us, we will make your property stand out from the rest, we will give premium billing and ALL THEY DO IS, put it on RIGHTMOVE. What they don't tell you is that after SIX Months if they DON'T SELL your property BETTERMOVE take your property off the market. They PROMISE TO GIVE YOU REGULAR UPDATES AND DO NOTHING. I would not recommend this company to anyone

I wish i'd read these reviews before I signed up. My experience is similar to so many, I was first contacted by Cory and then by Adam Burge. I was convinced by Adam that Bettermove could achieve at least 235k for my house and they had clients queuing up to buy propertys like mine. After dodging the question a few times Adam assured me that should I pull out of the contract early the monthly payments would stop. Despite my better judgement and being extremely busy I didn't take the time to read the small print and paid £320 deposit and signed. The remainder of the fee is then sold to a finance company which basically means Bettermove have the full fee and have no incentive to do any work to sell your property.After hearing very little for 3 and a half months I received a call from Theo informing me we had an offer of 154k. over 80k less than asking price. I asked Theo if he considers this an offer that would release Bettermove from the money back guarantee of the contract. He Said an offer is an offer. I asked him if the same would apply if someone offered me £10. He said yes. I certainly feel I have been scammed.

Stay away, don't use, please I can't be more serious don't use these people, the only think you will get is poorer.Notice that the reviews are either 1 star or five stars? read the 5 stars and have a chuckle to yourself.This lot promise everything on the phone, it turns out to be untrue. The guy who rang me out of the blue said that he would probably have it sold before Christmas, that was in November. He also said that if we don't sell it you don't pay us. I should have read all the correspondence they sent through as this was not the case.I took my house off the market this week, but not before they got an offer in writing (This means they get to keep your money +£1000 of it), the fact that the offer was £210k for a house on the market for £310k and the offer came from someone who had never been to the house certainly makes me wonder.

AVOID!!!Cancelled my agreement with better move before the 14 day cooling off period however still waiting for my money to be refunded, customer services are awful they do not reply to emails. We also had another property on the market with them had an offer £45k below asking price this then gives them the right to keep all monies paying a thousand pound to get an offer significantly lower than asking price and cannot get money back. No viewings just one offer of a supposedly property investor - all lies! Use a trusted estate agent local to you, avoid this company! They also delete all bad reviews so it is possible this will be removed soon!

Beware of the small print

Sales team are excellent, but outcome was not acceptable. i was assured that my money would be refunded if there was no sale. they use all the data from the original estate agent, never visited the property or sent any viewings. I received one offer two thirds of the asking price, more than £53,000 below market value. This is considered to be them doing their job, an offer is all they need to claim their sale fee. They charged £1000, my estate agent secured a sale two weeks later £1,000 below asking price and charged £800 when all transactions were complete.

I got a phone call saying an offer was made, a ridiculous offer made by someone who hadn't seen the property and I never met, just a phone call from staff at bettermove.. I refused the offer. I had one more offer, again a ridiculous offer following the buyer visiting the property. I would love to hear from anyone in the same situation with this company. Message me on Face book. Very bad review. Please read!

HiWe were asked to sign to better move by their employee with a view to pay an initial amount that they will return to us if they didn’t sell our property in 14 days. As discussed, they didn’t sell our property and when we are now requesting for refund, they are treating us very badly by not responding properly to our calls. They didn’t return our initial amount and are now deducting money every month from our account in spite of us cancelling the contract and threatening us that if we instruct the bank to stop, it will affect our credit score 😌Please think many times before signing on to better move!

DO NOT USE. We was lied to, they told us they could sell our house quickly and had loads of people on there books, only had 1 couple round, oh and was told someone put in an offer which was ridiculous, i believe this was just them making it up so they get all there money. So at the start when all sounded good we signed up to what we was told was 6 months, after selling with a fantastic high street company and not having any viewings we needed to cancel/end with them to then be told we was signed in for 12 months we would never agreed to this as it is possible to sell within 6 months, we have had to pay or they will black list us, we are fighting to get this back. You might read this and think did you not check the reviews, we did and there is more good then bad which is why we went with them DO NOT USE 😡

Avoid this company if you can

Avoid this company if you can, promise the earth deliver nothing. Pride themselves on their reviews but I found it very hard to leave a review. I don’t understand how they get customers to review. Hard sell to get your business and they answer the phone or call back immediately, however once they’ve got you hooked you can’t get to speak to anyone or they don’t return calls. I.e. sales director Adam Burge brilliant until he got me signed up. Since then I’ve called 5 times, promised call back nothing.....I think Watchdog should look into this business.

Avoid this company!!

Avoid this company! Awful to deal with - I was bullied into listing my property with them with promises that they had buyers lining up to buy my property. I cancelled within 12 hours and despite them bullying me into staying with them, I decided to cancel it. I was promised a refund within a week and a month later, after me chasing repeatedly - I finally got the refund today. I have repeatedly asked to speak to Julia and Rory who will not call me back. You can’t call customer care - only contact via email and they do not respond. One of the agents who I was speaking to described Brighton as the “home of the gays” and I did not find this language acceptable at all. All round, an appalling and unprofessional company to deal with.
