Friendly and professional service... quick sale did not happen

I found all of the employees I dealt with - which was mainly Julia once I had signed up with them - to be very friendly, helpful and available. If I was providing a rating on this aspect alone, it would be a 4 or 5. However, the reasons for a 3 are based on my overall experience.I tried Bettermove after my previous agent failed to find a buyer in 3 months. I signed with Bettermove after some "pre-sales" conversations negotiating the fixed price they would sell my house for. During these conversations, there was lots of chat about "discussions with investors ready to make a quick purchase" and even that they needed to check with their "investor panel" before agreeing the asking price. Although no promises were made regarding an investor purchase, I was told a reasonably high % of sales went to investors and I was after a quick sale. Any noise about investors went quiet once my contract started.Bettermove did manage get several viewing lined up soon after going to market and also found a buyer reasonably quickly, but this did coincide with the start of a new year and a price reduction, so it's hard to say what helped the most.It should have been a simple process from thereafter. I was not buying again immediately and my buyer was selling his house to an investor, so minimal chain. It then still took 4 months to complete. I think the solicitor that Bettermove used were good and they kept me informed of progress - issues seemed to be at the buyer's end (although it's often hard to know). I was told that everything was "close" in mid-March, but then still took another 6 weeks. I feel that Bettermove could have done more to push things along, but maybe there was nothing that could be done.If you're looking for a friendly agent and want to sell for a fixed price, then Bettermove would be a good option. I would just be wary if you are looking for a quick sale, as my experience was that this was no different from other agents.

The amount of people who viewed my house was unbelievable, this company really kept their promises when they said they would find people to view. I was kept informed at all times. I agreed a price for my house with Better Move and then left it to them.

The staff were very helpful. The price I had to let the property go at was well below market value and the commission Bettermove take is £10k minus legal fees. Unfair, I needed to sell quickly hence the BMV.

Fantastic service

After a shaky start with the sales director, the sales team in the Leeds office couldn't have been better. Julia Sillers, the Progression Manager, in particular was absolutely fantastic. I found this company and it’s staff will go the extra mile we put out house on the market with Bettermove and within 2weeks it was sold and for the price we asked for they have done everything for us we have had no stress all the paperwork is done with them . All I can say is I would advise you to go to this company first they are the best of the best I can’t thank them enough

Easy way to sell

Easy to set up. Plain and simple guidanceWe did have to sell twice as the first buyer needed a mortgage and no one knew certain properties have certain conditions for mortgage. Relisted as cash only sale and sold that day. Solicitors used were pleasant but need need somethings twice as misplaced an itemOverall though easy. Agree a price and that’s what you get. No hidden fees. So yes I’d recommend.

Don't use this agent

Bettermove earn their living by taking all above a number agreed with the vendor. This is very bad as there is no negotiation. They will keep the property in their books without making a deal.If you want to sell your property use another agent.

I recently wrote 2 very scathing reports regarding my own personal dealings with the company bettermove. Now while I stand by what was written I have removed said reviews. The reason for this is a man named Harry Harper who has not been with the company for long and his job is to look at the reviews and call customers who are unhappy with them after reading my reviews he called me to talk about what happened after which he said he would see what he could do. Now considering my dealings with them I wasn't going to hold my breath, but I was surprised when he called again and asked me to if I would accept an offer as a gd will gesture. Now although we never received all of what he said I will rate this gentleman 5star and if anyone received a call from him give him a chance would also like to thank theo gaines

There should be an option for 0 stars! We have been chasing a refund for three months now and the elusive Rory appears to never be in the office nor does he fulfill any promises to callback. Do not use this company!!!!Ok, On posting of this review above I received a call from Rory. He agreed to pursue the refund on our behalf and has been true to his word. I have had a few calls from him as he chased up the refund and I am delighted to say it is in our account today. I have amended the star rating based on Rorys input but unfortunately I cannot go further as up until then the service was very much lacking.

DO NOT GO WITH BETTERMOVE.No idea where they got my number from. I had a call from them. They promised me there was a buyer ready to purchase my house. They told me I had to sign up with them in order for them to sell my home. They got me to sign into a 12 month contract where I had to pay monthly. They said if they dont sell my home in 26 weeks then they will remove it of the market. I had to keep chasing them in regards to the buyer, it later turned out there was no buyer at all. It is just a trick so they can get you in and lock in you a contract. I've been told I still have to pay for the marketing fee. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. DO NOT TRUST THEM.

Dont fall in their trap, "Bettermove can trick you at any stage"

On First telephonic conversation with Bettermove I have been promised that my property will be sold at £290k and offer will be received within 2 weeks. Bettermove representative constantly called me numerous times until i signed up contract. Bettermove never take the money from client under their name they use third party(DivideBuy) to enter into 12 months installments agreement. which is bizarre. And DivideBuy always read out the condition that "you can not cancel any installments through your bank saying you dont know DivideBuy.after I signed up the contract no one was in touch with me and nothing happen in 2 weeks’ time. Then i requested to terminate the contract within cooling off period. At this point Bettermove representative said we have got an buyer who is interested in the property and pursued me to go ahead. A month gone by and nothing happened, no one contacted and no updates been given as per what steps been taken to improve the chances of selling the property. Then i contacted Customer and expressed my concerned that I am not happy with services so far been given and nothing happen in 2 months’ time where Bettermove was very confident of selling the property in 2 weeks’ time. I wished not to continue marketing my property and not spend any more money. Then he proposed a 26 weeks agreement where he said that money will be refunded if the property does not sell at the price I wanted to sell. when he made this offer then i mentioned that I would not accept any offer below the price property is marketed. And he confirmed saying that is obvious. then i got an amended agreement with this clause (i could not interpret it, what it could mean)"Refund Option - We are confident that we will obtain a formal offer for you from a buyer. Therefore, WE GUARANTEE that should you not receive a formal offer from a buyer within a period of 26 weeks we will refund your marketing fee".As per above condition Bettermove can send me any email constituting a formal offer from XYZ client where I am not ready to sell the property.During 26 weeks times I have been contacted by marketing team to reduce the price from £290k to £270k to £260k then £250k as there were no internet traffic. I did say that I will not sell less than £250k and will not accept any offer below £250k.On 13th February 2020 Bettermove representative contacted and informed me that a prospective buyer put an offer of £157k which I rejected straight away over the phone. Also they sent me an email as formal offer confirming the same. At this time I did not understand that this email will put Bettermove in safe situation and fulfilled their condition defined in agreement. In this whole situation I do feel that I have been tricked by Bettermove. As per my understanding the formal offer would be the one which is fair and acceptable by the vendor. How could an offer of £157k is fair and acceptable where the property was marketed for £250k? I assumed that the Estate agent do work in the interest of Vendor, however in this whole incident it seems that Bettermove was playing safe and make money of £1200 through marketing and do not have any intention to sell my property.Now at the end of 26 weeks marketing i have to pay full marketing fee. where as this fee was for marketing my property for whole year Which means that around £599.99 is free money for Bettermove as they stopped to market property at the end of 26th week.A normal person who does not understand contractual terminology of property market would always be at loosing side when dealing with such an organisation.
