Avoid selling your property with them unless you’re desperate! Ridiculously high profit margin, I came away with even less than we originally agreed on, very poor communication (unless they need something from you) not even a quick sale. Really bad customer experience for me and I won’t be using them again.

TrustpilotNot the best experience for me, but others seem fine
Not a great experience for me personally, although I understand others have had good experiences with BetterMove (*Original post edited as at the bottom when contacted by BetterMove). I saw good reviews when I searched this company before deciding to do business - I want to say that upfront. But for me the experience wasnt great. I searched them out to sell a retirement flat quickly and was contacted straight away. The sales agent told me "we know these properties", we agreed a sale direct to this company. Even though the offer was 40% less than we had it listed elsewhere, we agreed, because we were promised a quick, quick sale "...maybe 7 days". Was told would be sent an "agreement" but what I got through was a contract to sell. Further daily calls to chase me signing it. Said I needed a conveyancer to check the contract, they werent keen on that "people just normally sign". Turns out contract was ok except a few things were factually wrong, so I made recommendation for 3 minor tweaks - which seemed to sit ok. A week passed, strange not to get the same number of calls as before...then a question about the property was sent to re-confirm something I thought I had made clear at the beginning (or at least it wsnt highlighted by them at the beginning as a deal breaker, but turned out to be). We responded to the questions...then silence again....more silence despite sending multiple emails, calling many times and even texting. Followed by a final email to say I wasnt happy that it was radio silence. Got an anonymous text back saying they didnt want to buy the property any more (*they have said it was anonymous due to an IT glitch, which I could believe). I contacted the company to get the email for a Director (as I want them to know that this way of treating people isnt right), was told I couldnt have one and I should speak to customer complaints or talk to a manager...why, I'm not a customer. I posted this review.* Update 1. Shortly after posting this I received a call from a Director of the company. He was apologetic, articulate and genuinely concerned. He is investigating further and as a result I have upgraded my rating from 1 to 2 and changed the title.** Update 2. True to his word the Director asked the sales person to call me and talk about my concerns. He did shortly after call #1. He seemed to listen and I think learnt about what he might have done differently. As he said "this is a 1 in a 100" experience. As a result I upgraded from 2 starts to 3 and changed my title and some of the text in this post to be more reflective of how we both saw this.

If I could give a zero I really would! This company was dishonest and tried to con an extra £2000 from us.We viewed a property through Bettermove recently. As we liked the property we decided to make an offer. We were a little cautious of the unusual way they operate compared to other agents but we loved the house. I spoke to head of sales Julia and made an asking price offer, Julia liaised with the vendor and stated that our offer was accepted depending on a viewing the next day not offering more. Julia called me back and stated the viewing had been cancelled and asked were we able to increase our offer by £2000 pounds. I said we would get back to her, we wondered why ten minutes ago our offer was accepted but then they called back asking for more. Bettermove don’t charge commission, they instead take what they achieve over an agreed amount with the vendor so I wondered who had asked for more, was it the vendor or was it Bettermove?This question got answered when we arranged a second viewing on the property. We turned up and despite the vendors being home and having shown us around their home on the first viewing Bettermove had sent a chaperone to show us around. When I asked the chaperone why, she said to prevent us from speaking to the vendors. This made for a very awkward second viewing. Julia later called me to ask how the viewing had gone and I told her we wouldn’t be proceeding as we didn’t trust them and it was so rude to have sent a chaperone. Julia stated it was company policy to use an agent for all second viewings, I find that hard to believe.Fortunately the vendors had a van outside with their business name on it. I was then able to contact them and tell them what had happened. From this contact I established that they had accepted our first offer and had no knowledge of Bettermove requesting an additional £2000 from us by way of a higher offer. This company is untrustworthy and I will be taking this case to The Property Ombudsman. Please don’t make our mistake and deal with this company.

Though we subsequently did not put an offer in on the property we were interested in as we felt that the repairs and renovations it required would take it out of our price range, we found that Mr Blackburn and the Bettermove staff we dealt with were unfailingly helpful and polite. A viewing was arranged speedily and our questions about the property were answered thoroughly.I would certainly consider using Bettermove if Ihad a property to sell.

Terrible cowboy estate agents. Charged me £1000 to reserve a property and no refund when sale fell through. Julia Sillers - Hopeless. Please please do not use this company. No other estate agent charges £1000- simply for making an offer. (nice work if you can get lol).
The sale didn’t ‘fall through’ as you put it, you changed your mind without giving any explanation weeks after signing a non-refundable reservation agreement for £1000 for us to take the property off the market and reserve it exclusively for you, thus rejecting offers from proceedable buyers. We are totally upfront and open about the exclusivity fee from day 1, as it provides complete transparency for all parties, and it stops us from dealing with time wasters. We tell buyers to do all their due diligence before submitting the offer and we outline the terms on which the payment is fully refundable such as an issue with the survey or if the seller pulls out. We have never refused to return a reservation fee in these circumstances. However, you simply decided to walk away without any reason given, which is inconsiderate to all parties involved. Perhaps in future you should take a bit more care before jumping into a purchase without any thought given to the other people in the process. Also, singling out a person by their full name and name calling whilst hiding behind a false name is unfair.
