Incompetence and lies on a legendary scale!

I had my property up for sale with Foxtons, an offer collapsed, and so I decided to consider rental. After I spoke to the rental department, they took a renter into my property without my permission, hadn't even signed a contract. Luckily, the person liked it and offered a good rent. The agent lied to the renter and me, messed up three contracts, so by the time he signed the fourth contract on my behalf, the renter had been in my flat for 10 days. Lucky he signed! He told me that I could not protect the deposit...lie. He told me that the second 6-month rent payment would be paid on the fourth month...lie. And it was not paid in advance on the 5th month like every other agent; the tenant is now late with the second 6-month payment. I complained to the manager, but he ignored my complaints. The whole office is corrupt. Really, do yourself a favour, there are good letting agents out there, Foxtons is not one of them.

New X Foxtons is appalling

New Cross Gate letting office is appalling. I had a misfortune to invite them a few years back for valuation and then when changed my mind, asked them to delete me from their database as wasn't planning to do anything with my house. And guess what every year I am receiving unsolicited calls inquiring about valuation, letting, selling. They promise to delete my number every time they call once every half a year in average, pathetic.

They take the money & abandon…

They take the money and then abandon their landlords. Do not rent a property with these agents as there is no customer support or response. I have had a couple of issues and queries - I have had to ring several times with long wait times and email multiple times for a response, still waiting three weeks later. They never reply or respond costing me hours of wasted time and stress.

Nightmare from start to finish. Had a boiler that didn't work during the winter. They sent out the same contractor THIRTEEN times before they asked another to attend. The second tried their best, left us with portable heaters (the agents did not offer us this even once during the 7 weeks we had no hot water or heating from early Feb onwards) they wouldn't come out a second time because it wasn't worth the hassle and it needed replacing. The third contractor finally said the boiler needed replacing because it was cheap. During all this, I had a horrific mold situation begin in my bedroom from the damp and cold in the flat. It was black and green and in 3 corners of my room. It was spread over a large area of every corner. The new boiler was installed incorrectly and there was a gas leak. They fixed it but it was a ridiculous situation. We obviously chose to leave the flat when it was possible. When they showed people round the flat, they would go into my bedroom (where the dehumudifier was on and they gave us no further info about when the mold would be sorted) and told the viewers that the mold would be gone by the time they moved in. Why wasn't it fixed this quickly while we were living there?? Lastly, it was a battle to get the deposit back because the landlord stopped communicating. Only when I got my MP involved did it suddenly become available and it was claimed it was never kept back in the first place. There was so many issues with this team at Streatham foxtons that I would never, ever rent or buy from them. They were dishonest and just did not seem to care about their tenants.NegativeQuality, Professionalism, Value

As a first time buyer, my experience with Foxtons Streatham, specifically their estate agent Gary Cooper was one of the most valuable experiences I could have had during my property search. Coming into the process with very little knowledge, Gary was more than willing to fill in the gaps. He was professional, pro-active and genuinely cared about my search - which was a welcome relief compared to others. Even though we didn't end up buying through Foxtons, Gary has made a lasting impression - setting a high standard of service you would struggle to find anywhere else.

Landlords don’t be fooled by the nice offices and friendly staff. They are ruthless. They take 13 percent + VAT for rent collection only and lock you in for 5 years. It’s not the tenants we need protecting from. It’s the ruthless agents.

My son bought his first ever flat through Liz Thomas at Foxtons. We met with many different estate agents through his search but professionally, Liz towered head and shoulders above anyone else. After a line up of viewings day 1 she had clear idea of what my son wanted so no time wasted on higher priced or unsuitable flats. Liz’s communication was exceptional. She was totally intuitive, extremely patient and happy to go through granular detail so my son was very clear on ever stage of the purchase and remained’ on it ‘ at every step of the way. My son’s situation was complicated ( he’s out of the country a lot ) so Liz made sure we were all aware of any unexpected development so they could be quickly dealt with. But to be honest the best thing about dealing with Liz is the fact she’s an extremely lovely, straight forward, straight talking lady who completely understands the stress everyone ( on all sides ) is going through and she goes out of her way to make things as smooth as possible. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Seeing as it was my first time, there were many challenges I discovered in the process and Liz truly helped me through all of them. Joanna was amazing and really on the case, incredible optimism when showing people round our house and at a time when it seemed like the market was really bad - people pulling out of offers, she kept going and we sold our house fairly quickly after being on the market with another estate agent unsuccessfully, Dinishka was also really positive and his initial consultation about selling the house made him come across as straight forward and trustable, he also put in effort advertising the house and communicating with us and potential buyers too, Thank you Foxtons Streatham, we are happily settled into our new property

No joke - I had a meeting with an agent Rene Maxwell in November 2022 who then kidnapped myself in her car. I really did not want with her in the car but she lured me falsely with the offer to give transport back to her office to get me to sign some non-offer letter which Rene said that was non-binding. What happened next is next day I receive a call from manager who said that Rene left. And what I signed was binding.

Non-existent communication. Viewings done by an unprepared team: didn't know level of service charge, exposure, if the appliances were new or not, size of the flat or rooms. One claimed we had replaced the kitchen (we hadn't), another that the Hue Lights we installed were staying in the flat for the buyer (we never said that).

Around 7pm near Streatham Station, I witnessed extremely dangerous driving from one of this company’s branded Mini cars. The driver’s conduct was shockingly reckless, swerving, speeding, almost hitting another car and showing no regard for other road users. This behaviour reflects extremely poorly on the business and raises serious questions about the standards they expect from their staff when representing the company in public. No one should be allowed to drive in such an irresponsible and dangerous way.

There is no other Estate Agents like Foxtons - they can sell anything at all! This is my second encounter with Foxtons Streatham and I must say 10/10 !!
