Really happy with the service at Ocean Estate agents Bradley Stoke. They gave us an honest appraisal of the market, found us a good proceedable buyer quickly and progressed the sale with excellent communication throughout. I was an estate agent so do know the industry. Would definitely recommend Ocean if you are thinking of selling your property.

We used ocean estate agents and solicitors for the purchase of our flat in Bristol. We would not recommend them at all. We were assured that by using ocean solicitors communication would be easier but if anything it was a hindrance as they played each other off against themselves, with us in the middle. About 80% of documents we received had errors in, including our names (several times), purchase price, amounts owed etc. We never got an update without chasing and important documents weren’t shared with us unless we asked to see them.We were given incorrect information by the estate agents upon our initial viewing, which was then repeatedly confirmed by them despite legal documents stating otherwise. This had a big impact on the buying process from our side.Our experience was one of poor communication, constant mistakes and lack of professionalism.

I have recently purchased my first property. Kelly and her team have been phenomenal throughout the whole process. At a very stressful time, I have felt totally supported throughout and couldn't have asked for better communication. They have managed to complete in just 9 weeks, which has been fantastic. Simon was quick to respond and friendly in his approach while supporting us with our house purchase. He worked to get us the best mortgage rates throughout the process, even applying for new products so that we always had the best rates. We really felt like he was on our side. Service when picking up keys was not very welcoming. Asked in a very blunt way if I had the cash for appliances we were buying. Was not very friendly at this point. There was no congrats in buying the property. (Didn't feel special). At the start they were very friendly, but did not like the end when picking up the keys.

First of all the positive: the follow up once a buyer was found was attentive and proactive. Debbie, the move manager, was excellent. However we would never use Ocean Bishopston again as the marketing and pre-sale communication and advice was poor. Response times and accessibility was slow, difficult and somewhat combatative at times. The person we were dealing with did not take well to his opinion being challenged, creating a sense of conflict rather than working for a common goal. But the main issue was that they over-inflated the value, only to advise a reduction in the asking price by £45,000 within 3 weeks of the property coming onto the market. Even in a difficult market this divergence is not what I would expect in terms of quality advice from a local agent that should know their market. We should never have been told, in such uncertain terms, that we could achieve the original asking price “as a minimum, hopefully more” to have it reduced by such a large sum so quickly after the property went onto the market.

Please be assured of our best intentions at all times, we are an independent Bristol business of 40 years, our customer care and indeed local reputation is always the highest priority. Furthermore, each and every seller’s trust and confidence throughout what can sometimes be a protracted and stressful experience is paramount. It is clear on this occasion we have not met our own high standards or yours. For this we apologise unreservedly. Thank you for your feedback regarding your Move manger, she is very happy to have received your positive comments. To your specific point on price, we had anticipated, based on very recent, local comparable sales evidence that this asking price would be achieved and as agreed, it was a price to 'test the market'. However, the market soon after this point had become unpredictable in large part due to varying mortgage rates and importantly consumer confidence. We apologise if this was perhaps an over-optimistic initial asking price. This is in no way common practice, price reduction rates are closely monitored and compared to both local and national averages to ensure we meet our own stringent goal of minimal reductions. Asking prices are always based on the most recent sales evidence along with specific property attributes. None the less, we will never shy from providing best, timely advice. Not impressed by Ocean Knowle's professionalism or competency.Communication during price negotiation was inconsistent and erratic. Negotiating tactics relied on unrealistic threats and avoidance of discussion. Exceptional lack of security and process upon purchase completion. I walked in and said "I'm here to pick up keys" and was given keys to our house without any ID checks or other verification - Try it yourself, might get a free property out of it!
