Non-existent communication. Viewings done by an unprepared team: didn't know level of service charge, exposure, if the appliances were new or not, size of the flat or rooms. One claimed we had replaced the kitchen (we hadn't), another that the Hue Lights we installed were staying in the flat for the buyer (we never said that).

Foxtons offered fantastic service, and Curtis was absolutely brilliant when helping me find and secure a flat when I had a short time frame. He took me to multiple locations and had a great knowledge of the area, describing each location and highlighting places to visit when living there. Terrible service

Terrible service. Very disappointed. I found a short let property on their portal myself, the agent (Amir Abbasian) kept suggesting either awful properties, or ones over my budget. They were very quick to call back and close the deal but once the deal was made, I never once was able to speak directly to my agent Olivia Taylor, or anyone from Foxtons again. Repeated messages and email queries went unanswered. Every two weeks a new person would be in touch and all my queries would be ignored. The property was nice and in good condition but i paid Foxtons 350 pounds for the end of tenancy clean, and was slapped with a 600 pound cleaning claim on my deposit. The property was never cleaned and my landlord claimed the charges from my deposit. at least a dozen emails later, I still don't have a protection document number for my deposit. I was told my deposit was protected. I ws told I would be provided an inventory upon moving in. I was told the place would be cleaned at the end of my tenancy, for which i paid. None of the above happened. Still waiting for part of my deposit to be returned, even though they said it was transferred three weeks ago and should take 5 to 7 days to be credited. I've settled the dispute with my landlord now, even though it is extortion, but it seems even he was being cheated by Foxtons.

Incompetent and disrespectful

Our landlord uses Foxtons Stratford as their letting agent. Our experience with them has been appalling. Maintenance issues are ignored for months on end with no communication, and when they are dealt with they are dealt with badly and break again quickly. The property we live in is currently on the market and the sales team have been incredibly rude and disrespectful towards us as tenants. Harassing every member of the household about viewings one after the other, attempting to get a different answer when told no to a viewing with less than 24 hours notice, and then showing up anyway and attempting to enter the property anyway. Complaints have been made multiple times yet the behaviour continues unchanged.

This place operates like a sweatshop. @Landlords - they will give you the option to allow them to sign a tenancy agreement on your behalf. Do not give them this right, at least not to Curtis. Curtis signed a 2 year tenancy on behalf of the landlady (granted he had legal permission) before the tenants even completed their references or provided guarantors. The tenants could have been unemployed convicts and he would have locked you into the contract anyway. He appears not to care for your security of income. Towards the end of the tenancy, Foxtons were provided with keys to conduct a viewing as all the tenants were away. The tenants returned from their holiday to find the backdoor left wide open, while all their valuables were in the living room. It was also clear that wild foxes had entered the premises. I do not yet have the name of the agent responsible for this height of incompetence. +1 star because their website works quite well.

Do not rent through Foxtons

If you are a renter, please do not use Foxtons. They are a scammy horrible company that only serves the interests of the landlord. They rented us an overpriced disgusting dump by using old out-of-date photos in the rental ad, and locked us into an abusively restrictive contract that made it impossible to leave the horrible dump that ruined my mental health. Do yourself a favour and stay away from these money hungry scammers.

Circumstances change while people are looking for properties and when I told the estate agent that I want to wait until next weekend - Jan 20th - to find properties to move into for Feb roughly - she responded back saying I won’t find places for Feb and I’ll only see properties for march or April (lol). Even if that’s true - I couldn’t drop work and moving out of my current place to go to viewings? She knows I’m not desperate to move in asap as I have a short term accommodation set. She called me all angry asking what was going on and that I need to cooperate with her. And this was due to the fact I didn’t answer for a few hours. Such a bad look for Foxtons, but upon research I’ve learned about their reputation for being very pushy anyway. There are plenty of property specialists and other estate agency chains I could use. Honestly shocked by that phone call.
