GoogleFirst time making a claim in over 30yrs of driving. Saga representative, Beata was very calming and explained clearly the information required and what she would do next. I was passed to Ben (Covea) who was equally calm, assuring and helpful in explaining next steps. Today I went from not having a clue what to do next to knowing exactly what to do to get the repairs done on my car. Thank you both

I would give zero stars if I could.I've always been a named driver on my husbands car insurance, have no claims or convictions etc. However he's no longer able to drive due to poor health so I asked for a quote in my name. His renewal premium was £371.28, they quoted me £693.27 - why, is it because I'm a woman, no-one can tell me. Another company provided a reasonable price and would transfer the No Claims Bonus to me if Covea would transfer it and confirm by letter - via the totally unhelpful broker, Autonet, they refused. At this time when everyone is stretched they've been worse than unhelpful. Here is an update on my review - they are worse than useless! I contacted Covea as requested by them and despite my policy being due for renewal on 8th December they advise they will take up to 8 weeks to respond to me, no wonder the premiums are so high if it takes that long to even answer when other insurance companies advise me that to provide what I need is a simple formality that could be done straight away.

Covea was a third parties insurance company that unfortunately damaged my car . Since the first phone call to Covea I found them extremely helpful and courteous, and surprisingly not trying to shirk any response-ability for the accident . They treated me me as if I was one of there own customers. From the very first contact to the very last phone call with Covea insurance was a pleasure to deal with . I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for making my traumatic incident of the accident was handled so professionally and smoothly.and a special thank you to Brandon for excellent customer service.Thank you Covea Kindest regards Andy

TrustpilotAbsolute horrendous company to deal…
Absolute horrendous company to deal with. Car insurance through Lloyds Bank, my daughter had an accident where a lorry ram into side of her at roundabout. Lorry driver has fully accepted the blame, got a phonecall from his boss explaining their driver was at fault and they would sort everything out at their end. Lloyds we’re great but when it went to the underwriter (Covea) that’s when the issues started. Clueless is being kind to them. No record of accident so daughter went through everything again. Was told she had to pay excess and then IF driver accepted liability she would get it back, eh, NO, he already has, on more than one occasion to Lloyds. But we’re not Lloyds was their reply. We’ll Talk to Lloyds then & they’ll pass all details on. 2 weeks after accident. Car isn’t repaired and now she has letters from Covea demanding the excess to be paid. Under no circumstance will She be paying excess for a NON fault accident, currently seeking legal advice through Motor Legal Protection as to where she stands. Stay Well Clear of these Charlatans, even pay more for a more reputable company as it’ll save any hassle in the long run. I await the reply from their customer services (and I use that term loosely) asking for details to be sent to them so they can look into my bad review. Quite clearly when you don’t act upon the information you already have or could get from insurance company, I highly doubt any complaints will actually be upheld.

Covea use a claims group they broke promise after promise with excuses why I had not received a call back.

TrustpilotGenerally very poor service
Generally very poor service - promises weren't kept and call backs never happened and needed to be chased repeatedly. Additionally I was promised an extra day of courtesy car whilst negotiating the value of my vehicle only to have the hire company demand it back as they weren't informed.I will say though that Jake Thompson was extremely helpful and actually resolved things rather than making promises and then not following through on them. All sorted in the end but not a company I'd want to deal with in the future.

TrustpilotCovea underwriters for SAGA who employ…
Covea underwriters for SAGA who employ Building Validation Solutions (BVS) to carry out works and assess damage and repairs carried out. Saga advised my mother in law (89) in November 2021 to get an electrician and plumber to ensure her home was safe after a flood as they couldn't provide these experts for 12 weeks minimum. There was absolutely no consideration for the fact she was vulnerable and that her son had died suddenly the week before which SAGA were informed of at the time. She did as advised by SAGA which in hindsight was not right but she was traumatised by the death of her son. She located a plumber and electrician as advised as concerned for her safety and paid out almost £6000 for works deemed essential by them at the time of flood. BVS have just recently despite numerous requests via case manager and complaints department advised Covea that £700 should be paid out - as £400 was paid by my mother in law for excess as per policy guidelines this equates to her receiving just £300!! BVS 3rd party have disputed costs my 89 year old mother in law has paid and want her to explain what work was carried out!! All invoices and clear explananatory information has been sent by post, emailed and scanned to BVS by tradesmen who carried out initial works as advised but they don't seem to comprehend it? They have been asked to deal directly with tradesmen to clarify and give rationale etc but declined and have continually delayed further progress with decorators etc. I have been waiting for a call back from BVS since April to explain why they don't speak directly to tradesmen as presumably they are qualified tradesmen too so can discuss issues of concern with relevant parties. I also wanted to know what they base their prices on and if works that cost £6000 can be carried out for £700 by their tradesmen I and everyone I know would love to know the contact details of these people asap. It is now 10 months since flood damage and my mother in law is potentially over £5000 in debt on the initial advice given by SAGA. There is still decorating (by yet another company) to be completed and dates given for completion at the moment is October!!! The whole process has been an absolute nightmare which I didn't expect to experience particularly when SAGA specify looking after the older generation who as we all know are the most vulnerable. I am in that age bracket and have made my family, colleagues and friends fully aware of the inadequate, appalling service my mother in law has endured from SAGA. The communication is well below accepted standard eg Case Manager not keeping us updated by email as requested as average of 45 minutes to get through to receptionist who according to Case Manager doesn't appear to forward messages? BVS continue to call my daughter who hasn't been involved in issues since January as she works in a hospital and understandably is not allowed her personal mobile whilst on duty. This fact was reiterated to SAGA COVEA and BVS on numerous occasions by myself and mother in law but nobody seemed to be able to update point of contact as she was still getting calls in June? This experience has been a huge learning curve for me since I took over matters on behalf of my mother in law in March - I would advise all to let SAGA take full responsibility for works needed and rehouse you if required whilst waiting for their workmen to complete repairs etc. Do not under any circumstances source your own workmen. In addition document every conversation with names, dates and times (as I have) so you have evidence (as I have) if you need to take your case to Ombudsman. I have realised over the last few months that the records of events and interpretation of conversations on file is very different every time you speak to an advisor and not openly shared amongst all parties involved eg I have had to rescan information as apparently not on record or received despite sending by recorded delivery which I had confirmation of delivery given by post office. I will be taking this matter further as its totally unacceptable but I hope this information helps others when considering home Insurance and don't just accept what is advertised - do your research, phone them, question them and get answers to different scenarios.

TrustpilotVery disappointed with service
We are currently having a very difficult time with Covéa. After a collision with a deer, it took about 5 days for covea to decide whether the car was in fact written off or repairable, meaning we weren't entitled to a hire car but couldnt go ahead and replace. We live in a very rural area so being without transport is very difficult. After the eventual write off and collection, we are still waiting for our money, nearly two weeks later. There is no communication from them, we keep phoning. We were assured the money would be paid over the weekend but here we are again. Monday and no settlement. Awaiting yet another phone call. It's very disappointing.

GoogleWould highly recommend NOT using this insurance company. Myself and my husband (William Bowling) have taken out insurance with this company and listed our engagement ring separately on there. We have unfortunately lost this and are absolutely devastated. The insurance company directed us to their recommended jewellers which valued the ring at £3023. We were originally told that what the valuation price was will be the same if we wanted to go back to the original jeweller we got our ring from. We had decided this is what we would like to do. However, the insurance company have now gave us the valuation of £2000 as apparently they have discount with the recommended jeweller? and therefore if we did not use them we would only get £2000 which isn’t the value of the ring… but if we went with their recommended we would get the £3023? make this make sense! absolutely appauling customer service. When explaining the sentimental reason as to why we want to go to the original jeweller the lady on the phone gave attitude saying “but why won’t you use our jeweller?!” because we don’t want to!! and not now especially after this awful interaction. I will never be using this company again and this should be a lesson to everyone - please please please check who you are insuring valuable items with if you want to get the full cost of the loss. Please go independently to specialists!!

They were not supposed to be contacting my mother due to her vulnerabilities however kept doing so. This resulted in my mum having to increase her medication due to stress. GoogleI’m sure 1 star is too high for these!
I’ve never dealt with such rude, arrogant and misogynistic men in all my life!
They talk over you, belittle you, laugh at you and don’t listen!
Refuse to pay out for theft of a car, it takes a complaint to get them to pay out. And then refuse to collect the car and claim they didn’t know the car had been released… They say police and holding companies aren’t telling you the truth, even though they’re the only ones stating they wasn’t aware even though I’d informed them myself!

TrustpilotIt started rather well, quickly went downhill.
It started rather well, as the hotlines are very responsive and the claims teams were friendly and helpful. I had a leak in my water pipes and as soon as we realized it, we called a plumber and Covea. Covea discussed on speaker phone with the plumbers and we all agreed to proceed with Trace and Access work, as this is included in the cover. 5 days in, after about GBP 10,000 of work done, our house a real war site, this was finally fixed. We kept calling the insurer every day to keep them posted and asking them for advice, and sending photos and invoices, all well received and acknowledged by Covea. And then a very sharp, sudden email to decline cover. Reason is: we fixed the leak before it damaged the house (as Covea guided us to do). However, the policy is only triggered if there is damage. As we contained the leak before it damaged and destroyed the building, Covea thanks us by NOT compensating us for avoiding THEM a massive loss. Extremely disappointing given the initial good impressions, which were very misleading and cunning. They basically used us.My advice: do not trust their claims teams. Wait for damage to be apparent and heavy before fixing things. Do not fix things otherwise they won't indemnify you.
