I had covea as my public liability insurance for being a plumbing and heating engineer.Never made a claim in 16 years, then i had an accident at work.Covea now decide they don't want to insure me.Completely detrimental to peoples lives. Happy to take your monthly payments though.

Huge thanks to Ellise at Covea. After a terrifying RTC last night, Ellise took control of everything for me. She talked me through every step of the insurance claim with kindness, patience, courtesy and the utmost professionalism. After speaking with her I feel confident I can leave things in very safe hands and she has reduced my stress level from off the scale to a manageable level. I can’t thank her enough. Very, very impressed with Covea. Sincere thanks.

Probably the worst

Probably the worst company you could ever contact! I was a victim of Vehicle Insurance Fraud with 4 companies. the other 3 all responded to my comunications and rectified the problem within 12 hours of me contacting them! Covea so far have not even had the courtesy to reply to my communication!!! There is an idiot driving around getting caught for speeding on spped cameras with false insurance!!!!!! furtunately the police in the area this is happening in are more on the ball than Covea!!!!! whatever you do do not expect any decent service from this outfit!!!!

Excellent service to a third party Riz Mougal

I had to ring Covea as a Third Party because one of your policyholders had hit my parked car. I spoke to Riz Mougal, who was exceptional. Polite, empathetic , very helpful and sorted everything out quickly and efficiently. The car will be booked into an approved repairer and hire is arranged if we need it. Riz made the whole experience much better than we thought it would be.

Avoid this company (Covea Insurance) at all costs.

Avoid this company (Covea Insurance) at all costs. My son had an accident last July and at the time we raised it as a slow impact collision, that we felt it was a set up accident for the gain of a personal injury claim to the point that we also informed the police. To add to that, at the location of the incident, I ran a check on the other car to find out that the other car had no MOT and had not done so for about 18 months. My son was on his own when the accident occurred and the two men were pressurising him to the point he called me and as I was local i turned up within minutes. There was no damage to either car. We informed Covea and we did not make a claim and only provided notification. Neither car had damage as it was a very low impact collision. We heard no more. That is until we renewed with another company online. A month after renewing we were advised we had obtained the policy with fraudulent information provided and when we looked into it in more detail, there is a 3rd party claim ongoing for over £2000.00 damage and personal injury. It also advised that I was the driver at the time of the incident which was incorrect information. That was the first that we were aware of any claim. Corvea never contacted us for additional information or images and so how can they process a claim without both sides of the story. They never advised us that there was a 3rd party claim and so how can we provide correct information when Covea insurance company do not advise their clients what is happening. After many calls to Covea and lots of lies, apologies and well this is how it is, nothing has changed and I have been advised that regardless of me now providing images and information, nothing will. The good guys hand over their money and the fraudsters get away with it and Covea allow it and happily pay them. How do we even know that the other car was fit to be on the road as it did not hold a valid MOT certificate. That seems not to worry Covea. Some i dealt with were fine and helped and others were just blocking me. The common trend was "we can see what you are saying and understand, but" We now move to the next stage of making a formal complaint but we are likely to be brushed aside again. It also does not help us now trying to get new insurance as questions will now be asked about previous quotes we have completed which will now all look like we have provided fraudulent information. As the title of the review states, avoid this company at all costs.

Zero Stars Would Be Too Generous

This review is primarily aimed at Covea, however, my insurance policy was taken out with O2 Drive. I know, I know, I should have known better to take out car insurance with a telecommunications company, but it seemed like a good deal at the time. Anyway, I was unfortunate to have had an accident in November 2019 where the third party admitted liability. I called O2 the next day to inform them of the accident, gave them all the information regarding the collision and then I was passed onto Enterprise who were quick to take up the claim. All good so far?... I then had to give the accident details once more to Enterprise, frustrating having to repeat this information, but OK, no big deal. Enterprise then told me they would start repairs without taking an excess payment and would provide me with a “like for like” courtesy car! Result! Or so I thought...Two weeks pass and I've heard nothing. I decided to call for a progress update and was told that a "2 week window" for repairs had passed and that I should now contact Covea. Fine... I contact Covea and I am told that the third party is now disputing the claim. Ok, no problem, I am confident that all the evidence backs up my side of events. So, I give the accident details again, this time over emphasising the fact that the accident location was directly opposite a police station and adjacent to commercial units so there would be ample CCTV footage to back up my claim. I also advised them that I had suspicions that the third party was under the influence of alcohol or drugs (I did call the police directly afterwards about this), but this seemed to fall on deaf ears as several weeks later I received a letter from Covea asking for all of this information AGAIN!!!! To add insult to injury, the claim form was woefully inadequate as there was very little room to add significant amounts of information. So, I open my trusty friend PowerPoint to start what I can only describe as a masterpiece. The presentation that I submitted included all of the previously given information plus Google Maps/Earth screen grabs showing the route of both parties. Detailed descriptions of the collision, damage to my car etc, the call to the police, potential CCTV locations, you name it, it was in there, a claims investigators dream! I sent this off feeling confident that my luck was about to change... So naive. Several weeks pass (we are now well into January), no communication. I call for an update and was told that the third party was still disputing the claim and communication between Covea and Direct Line (third party insurance company) had been slow at best. Then came some salt to the wound... Apparently any potential CCTV footage covering the incident would have been deleted due to the elapsed time.I need to add something now which I believe is key to this whole fiasco. When Covea asked me if I would like to start repairs to my car, I refused for the following reason. Covea wanted an excess payment upfront which was around £350, no issues there really as its common practice. However, the damage to my car was quite superficial, a slow impact resulting in a small dent and some scuffs. In my opinion the damage could probably be repaired for less at the right bodyshop, plus I was happy to wait until liability had be proven in my favour. With this in mind, Covea has had no financial outlay on this claim, therefore very little incentive to chase it. It is now mid-March, nearly 5 months on and I’ve heard nothing at all. No contact from a claims investigator, nothing! I know we are in the midst of a global pandemic so I will give Covea a little slack but, really?!? Why is it taking this long? Shocking performance all round. The moral of this sad story is, use Direct Line for car insurance. Regardless of liability, they look after their customers.

Riz was very helpful he looked after everything for me after I was involved in accident. Since posting this I would like to say that I’m utterly disgusted with how I’ve been treated by their injury department. No one as telephoned me with regard to the accident. I phoned yesterday to speak to someone about my injuries only to be told by an aggrieved advisor holly with a terrible attitude that they are no longer dealing with third party injury claims since yesterday and because I’ve got too many injuries my claim is too high for them to deal with and just get a solicitor! !! Wow what a response when your a victim of a car accident that was their insured fault caused me a broken rib and more can’t work no immediate help. What a response !!!!!!!

Shambolic!

Shambolic!! My relatives house was flooded 10 days ago. They are not in good health and disabled. The sewers and flood water rushed through their home. Covea came and took up the lounge carpet. Nothing else. After numerous phone calls took up flooring in verandah. After another call took hall carpet. They have not sanitised anything inside. They have not cleaned patio or drive both of which are covered in God knows what! They have not kept in touch. There is no skip. They have just been abandoned. They have said the sofa etc is ok even though they are contaminated. They have said they won't replace stair carpet also contaminated!! Absolutely disgusting and no organisation at all

An incident of fire and damage at my home, led to quite a "scarey start" to 2020.What started as an anxious and worrying time, soon changed once I called Covea and explained the situation. Covea Cowboys

Still waiting for a reply from the Cowboys at Covea regarding their non existent help dealing with case ref: xxxxxx. In this case Covea couldn’t be bothered to process the case and cancelled the comprehensive cover with the broker Hastings direct as they didn’t fancy their chances of taking on the other drivers company Aviva even though it was entirely their drivers fault. This company are basically a bunch of scammers who should not be in business. Complaint now registered with ombudsman. I see Giorgia is now beginning to sit up and take notice!.

From minor disaster to major satisfaction. A lesson in customer care.

Having my Jaguar XF lux, damaged by another driver who made a mistake reverse parking, could have been a very stressful experience. Add to this the fact that at the age of 71 I can't even remember the last time i had to contact an insurance company about a claim, this could have been both stressful and confusing. However the whole procedure from initial phone call through to courtesy car and the local body repair workshop, was so smooth, courteous and well handled.I can not praise ALL involved enough for turning a minor disaster into almost, a pleasurable experience. Many thanks to you all including Enterprise car hire Morriston, and FixAuto LLansamlet. Both were so professional and friendly.

Absolutely stellar service at a difficult time

I recently had to contact Covea after my husband became ill and not fit for work. With significant mental health issues involved, this was not an easy call to make on his behalf. However, every representative has been patient and empathetic as well as efficient and professional. I feel that they went out of their way to help us with a claim, understanding our difficulties and helping us through the process, supporting us every step of the way. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

As seems to be the main theme with this business. I urge everyone to please use one of the other insurance companies (and check your documents that these are not the policy underwriters for yours). The bottom line is these do not cover you when you need them (this was for home & contents cover) and look for any excuse possible to not fulfill claims. Their customer service team is non existent and you have to chase them every step of the way to get anything done.I am currently in the process of going through the ombudsman and legal proceedings to challenge their decisions and outcomes.I will post further details when solicitor tells me its appropriate as it involves a discrimination element.I would give less that 1 star but its not possible.

I worked myself for many years in the insurance industry , please do yourself a favour and avoid !!!!!Update , the company proceeded to drag the process out , disabling me from being able to do my physio or nurses home appointments, my son is still getting medical treatment due to their neglegence. They said they were looking into everything, In this time I received no phone calls or messages ,again no one attended despite my requests , any of my queries were not responded too , I then asked for the complaint procedure against a staff member and again ignored . Last week my Mercedes was written off…

Last week my Mercedes was written off following a claim I put in. The recovery breakdown company who recovered my car from the accident said in their opinion it would be a claim. The claim was for a tyre that had flown off the car whilst driving and during the accident the brakes and one of the discs had been badly damaged. Covéa sent the car to Apollo Motors in Basingstoke who quoted them a total cost of £4000 (inc vat) to repair the damage. Covéa then wrote the car off, despite me having bought it for £8,500 last November. I have since withdrawn the claim, had the car collected and sent for repair at my own expense which has transpired to be as little as £500. One has to ask - are Apollo Motors, as Covéa's preferred supplier giving them inflated quotes and making money out of this or are Covéa wanting the inflated quotes, so that they can write the cars off, mend them and sell them for a profit? Perhaps someone could explain this extraordinary set of circumstances to me. They also wished to put my premium up from £55 per month to £130 per month. As you can imagine I am no longer insured by them.

I'd give no stars if I could. Someone drove into my car whilst it was parked outside my house, my car then shunted forward into my partners car, we were both asleep in bed at the time. Thankfully no one was hurt. All 3 cars written off. My partner and I started negotiations through our insurance. I received a call from Covea who wanted to deal directly with me, they told me it would work out cheaper for them regarding rental car etc.... What a mistake that was. They made me a derisory offer for my written off car, I rejected it, then they made a slightly improved offer which I reluctantly accepted. They insisted the rental car had to be returned within 7 days of the first offer, meaning it had to be returned the day after the second offer. They left me with no car, my 17 year old daughter who works part time after college has had to get taxi's home from work at 11pm and I have been restricted with my own travel and had to cycle from work. Meanwhile, my partner received a decent offer and kept the rental car until she her offer had been settled and she has got a new car now. 2 weeks later and I'm still without a car. Next time I will continue with my own insurance and steer clear of covea. The settlement amount is not enough to buy a replacement car for me so now I've had to resort to taking out a credit card in order to afford one!! Thanks for nothing covea!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

i had an accident on the 18/08/2024 a youth on a motorcycle jumped the red traffic signals on his side of the road.Colliding with my car impacting me on the drivers side, my car has since been written off. Coveas Agents recovered my car to a local garage then removed it to a location in Cheshire without informing me In the boot of my car was tools and personel items to the value of around £190.Covea has checked and found nothing in the car. After 12 weeks Covea has still not appointed blame even though 4witness and 2 police officers and the youth admitted liability in front of the above. So my broker Nutshell will not refund 5 months outstanding on a £954 policy untill Covea inform them.My NCD has been cancelled costing me an extra £233 on my present insurance so for an accident that was no fault of mine i am at least £623 out of pocket.Covea Reference 595P023750

Brian · 19 November 2024

Agent replied · 25 December 2024

Good morning Brian. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. Unfortunately, the law as it relates to motorbikes makes the apportioning of liability very different as compared to when just cars are involved. This means your no claims discount is disallowed until it is confirmed we have zero liability for the incident. This can take a very long time to establish and there is no guarantee that we will not have to pay out for the third party in this claim. I appreciate it is difficult for many people to comprehend the law in these cases. Our salvage agent could not find your belongings and I understand we offered for you to send in receipts so we could reimburse you. If you would like us to look into this further for you, please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.relations@coveainsurance.co.uk or call 01422 286406. Best wishes, Alexandra
