Unexpectedly bad

I hired The Partnership to purchase a one-bed apartment in central London for £325,000. The Partnerships lawyer fee was 30% above the next highest quote from other solicitors, which I paid hoping that I would get a reasonably good service. In reality, my transaction got delayed by 3 weeks than it reasonably should be expected to complete. I had to convince my own solicitor that we can't rely on inaccurate info supplied to us by the seller without evidence. I felt pressured to just "get on with it" and go ahead with the transaction as is, when it was clearly not beneficial for me. On top of high-end base fee, which I agreed to pay, I got unexpectedly upsold by +50% for work I outlined to them before I hired them and back then the sales person said nothing about this additional fee. I found out about additional fee in the financial statement. They added the fee only after I exchanged, but before completed. This way I had almost no chance to question it, dispute it and had to just pay it. Their response times at many points throughout transaction were quite long, when someone goes on two-week holiday, they say there is a replacement, in practice though work simply stopped. They would answer clear yes/no questions, but they ignored any questions where I asked them to share their experience and judgement. They just ignored and I had to send them questions again and again to get some kind of an answer. Their advice and guidance for exchange and completion process was extremely limited, I had to use ChatGPT given the time sensitivity. Overall 1/5 for all the reasons above.

The Partnership - slow progressing enquiries

The Partnership app is great for having everything in one place. Where they let us down was in their slowness to respond to enquiries, even when our buyer was also using The Partnership. So at critical times it relied on our Estste agent constantly chasing to ensure progress. Even then there were aspects of the transactions (i.e. house contents not included in the sale where we were asking for money, where there was never any resolution).

However, Manisha, Louis and the team were very friendly, approachable and always available to speak with if we had any concerns or questions. Michaela and Atena were lovely and helpful. Two things were not great, I was asked when I was thinking of completing and I stated that end of September as my tenancy was ending. Then I was not informed that the searches were completed and therefore I felt we stalled in the moving date. When I questioned how much longer the searches would take, I found that they were complete and suddenly that day I received many forms to read and complete. Secondly I had to chase Fred and ask what was happening as I had not received any messages from him, it is easy to forget that we as the general public do not do this very often and therefore need communication to know what to do next. I should not have to chase you for information.

The easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given

I have never been so confident giving a 5* review. Abi, Saskia, Daria and others who I dealt with were fantastic. They went above and beyond to ensure I understood what was happening and were happy to answer the many questions I asked. As a first time buyer who was buying alone, this was a huge help and made me feel much more comfortable going through the process. I got weekly updates which were really helpful and I could see a summary of what had been completed and next steps on their portal at each stage in the process. The first sale fell through but I decided to stick with The Partnership as I had been so pleased with their work. Now I’ve got the keys to my new home, I can only say how grateful I am to Abi and the team for their efforts. I would recommend them again and again!

I am very disappointed with the poor…

I am very disappointed with the poor service received.. I would have thought that more could have been done to resolve the lease issue on the first purchase I tried to make. The second property I finally bought took 16 weeks to go through with no chain. No one spotted the service charge was not yearly but quarterly until I raised this. There was a second probate that was raised in week 14. It took 8 months for the sale of my late father’s property to go through. I felt there was no customer service and staff were rude. Unable to see historic billing and the partnership were unable to prove they had billed me correctly.

Thoroughness good but big questions on timely delivery

The thoroughness in checking all the minutiae of leases etc was good. However we instructed The Partnership on the purchase of a garage on 08-Aug-25 and completion was only achieved on 14-Jan-26. I cannot understand why it took 5 months. It caused us a lot of trouble with the seller who exceedingly frustrated because he was told by his solicitor that it could happen week commencing 17-Nov-25.

Great communication!

Smooth house sale

Smooth house sale. Had little phone contact as it was not needed but messaging on portal allowed me to juggle move details with work commitments and uploading documents (rather than sending hard copy to solicitor) means I still have access to them if required for other purposes. Bank account details needed to be verified after working hours the day before completion, which seemed a little late to be picked up on. Excellent use of tech in conveyancing process

The Partnership were excellent conveyancers. The main advantage for me was the portal were I could see the live progress of all the aspects of the sale and purchase and upload and download documents as required. My lawyer, Helen and her assistant Zoe were always available to speak when I had a query and their support was invaluable during the inevitable bumps in the road of any property sale and purchase. Their service is efficient, friendly and they get the job done. We went from offer to completion in 14 weeks. I highly recommend The Partnership.
