Throughout the process of buying and selling, we were kept informed through their excellent portal. The staff that we interacted with were highly professional and efficient. Ensuring Clients Meet all Regulatory Requirementss.in their Purchase

As a non UK resident at the time of the conveyancing process, it helps to know up front how the system works. Ta a great extent, the Partnership provided that. Answers to our queries were prompt and mostly helpful. Where I felt a lack in service related to the responses by staff to some of the information I provided, in the early stages. I believe this difficulty arises from the myriad of responses required from the client, to stock regulatory and financial questions posed early in the the process, combined with a lack of expert (solicitor based) oversight for specific ,potential tricky. situations, such as ours.In our case, the adequacy of some of our responses was not correctly evaluated, This led to unnecessary extra admin and certainly, extra stress, for us, as clients. This difficulty seems related to the online system used by the Partnership, rather than to any inadequacy of particular staff members. A case in point was the proof of our source of funds used for the purchase. A question pertaining to this was given near the start of the process. We responded as we saw fit. Our response was not queried, until a day before exchange/completion. At this point, we were told we had not adequately shown either the presence of our funds and their source. The latter could only be done at the time, so that was in order. However, the need to show the basic source of our funds at a late stage of the process proved to be a problem. Firstly, as immigrants, we had then left South Africa and all our goods, including much of our paperwork, was still being shipped. Secondly, based on staff comments in the portal, it was unclear as to what exactly was required. Only at the very end, did a verbal conversation with our solicitor clarify what was needed. It was just good luck at that stage, that we could provide information needed (in the form of my husband's Goverment tax returns) .I feel that the opportunity for more personal interactions with the solicitor, during the early question-answer stage would have obviated this difficulty.I realise the above relates especially to clients such as ourselves, who were and still are, in the process of relocating all our South African household contents by ship. However, more direct 'expert' oversight of early responses to the questions posed in the conveyancing process, for certain client situations, could lead to a smoother journey for some clients.
