Our experience with Gascoigne Pees has been an absolute nightmare, and I feel compelled to share this cautionary tale. After viewing a 2-bedroom flat in Guildford on October 26, we secured the property with a deposit, only to endure over two months of unimaginable frustration. During the viewing, we pointed out a concerning yellow spot on the main bedroom wall, and the agents (Jade Herring) promised to fix it before our move on December 11. However, just a day before our move, we received an email about a ceiling leak issue, a problem they were addressing at 6 pm the day before our move! The check-in revealed a severe leak, no heating, no light and despite our countless calls and emails, the agency left us in the dark. After a month of uninhabitable living conditions in the largest room, it took a second roof repair to finally resolve the issue. Now, as per our contract, we've sought a 50% rent reduction for the month when the room was uninhabitable. Despite numerous attempts to communicate this, the agency continues to ignore our pleas. In short, Gascoigne Pees has been the worst experience. Incompetence, lack of communication, and failure to address our concerns have left us beyond frustrated. I hope others think twice before considering this agency.

I vacated a property earlier this year…

I vacated a property earlier this year (28th march 2025)and mistakenly left a standing order active. As a result, a payment of £1300 was taken from my account on 31st March 2025 After I vacated the property, I  contacted    the landlord immediately  and he ask me to contact the letting Agent (Gascoigne pees) for the issue as he doesn’t  deal with the money  side of things and he contacted the letting agent immediately, and they assured me they will  refund would be processed within 1, 2 weeks.  However, it almost 2month now , and I have not received the refund, nor have I been provided with any valid reason for the delay despite repeated follow-ups.Anytime I reach out  on call or message to the landlord he doesn’t pick up or return my calls even the letting Agent give excuses …

Poor Experience As a Renter

I recently rented a flat in Basingstoke, through the Farnham office (I know it doesn't make sense?). It was an old building converted into 4 new flats. When I was handed over the keys on 30th June I was actually looking forward to moving in.However the flat was dirty as were the windows inside and out. The lights did not work in all of the flat apart from the hall. Most of the sash windows could not be opened. To be fair these initial issues were fixed within 3 days the flat should never have been handed over in this state.There was two large bins at the property filled with building waste and garden waste. No proper provision was made for proper bins that tenants can use and that can be emptied weekly.I tried to register for Gas and Electricity supply to the property without success, as the Gas meters that had been fitted could not be traced on the "National Database" On 14th June Southern Gas Networks (Distributor) visited the building and cut all gas to the building as they said the meters had been put in illegally.To be fair again, Gascoigne-Pees did clarify within 24 hours that this should not have happened and that the gas would be reconnected.So no hot water and no gas to cook on for nearly a week! And still no idea WHEN the gas will be reconnected??I have been in the flat for nearly a month and still no bin provision and no idea when this issue will be resolved.I signed the Tenancy agreement online (via verisign) and did not receive a signed copy from the Landlord. An issue that I raised as the contract is NOT legally binding until both parties have signed and each party has a signed copy.So I was given a paper copy to sign and send to Gascoigne-Pees in the post, which I did. Still don't have a copy signed by both parties though!There is only 2 flats occupied in the building (including me) and two lots of tenants to move in. So the bin issue is going to get worse unless Gascoigne-Pees and the Landlord can actually take ownership and resolve the issue.The lettings team at the Farnham office do reply to emails and let me know things are in hand etc, they do communicate the problem is NOTHING HAPPENS!This laughable saga is a good example of HOW NOT TO RENT A FLAT. And they expect me to pay my rent on time for this shambles?!!!
