Moving house can be a nightmare, but Rahim at Benham and Reeves made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Rahim was a professional, efficient, and had the right amount of empathy. He was patient and available to answer our questions (and believe me, we had a lot!).Rahim understood exactly what my husband and I were looking for in a new home. The service was good until it came to the point of payment of my rental amount. I informed the office that I have permission from HMRC not to debit my rental 20% tax as a foreign citizen, because I am doing my self assessment for a long time , and no other agency removed my taxes from my rental amount. I was surprised to receive the funds less 20% taxes. I was told to contact HMRC myself and give them your agency reference number to claim my money back. I believe I should have been told what to do before payment was made, and I should have been given the agency reference in advance, not afterwards. I classify it as non care attitude, to be honest.

HMRC’s Non-Resident Landlord Scheme says we must deduct tax unless they give us permission not to. This was explained in your offer letter.
We told you how to contact HMRC so they could confirm your approval and as soon as we got it, we refunded the monies to you straight away. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
