Worst letting and Move in experience with Prospect

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Prospect Estate Agency in Reading. From the beginning, their lack of professionalism was evident. The property was handed over in a deplorable condition despite their assurances that it had been professionally cleaned. The mattress was turned upside down to hide its filthy and unhygienic state, the carpets were dirty, and cobwebs were visible throughout the house. Despite raising these issues, Prospect offered only inadequate solutions, such as a small budget for a replacement mattress, leaving me to dispose of the old one myself.Storage areas in the property were filled with the owner’s belongings, severely limiting available space. Additionally, the paintwork in the property was of such poor quality that it stuck to my hands, indicating cheap materials were used. Several other promised amenities were missing or misrepresented. The main issue, the washer was falsely advertised as a washer-dryer, and when confronted, Prospect denied any wrongdoing and offered no remedy.Maintenance was another major failure. The property had a water leak in the bathroom, which has still not been resolved despite multiple contractors visiting the property. The agency suggested replacing the carpet but expected me to move all my furniture without any assistance. Communication regarding these issues was abysmal. Even after numerous attempts to resolve the problems, there was no accountability or effective response.To add to my frustration, basic logistical necessities like mailbox keys and parking permits were either not provided or mishandled. I was given a faded visitor parking permit that was against PCN rules, forcing me to borrow one from someone else. Despite several requests, Prospect failed to help me obtain a valid permit, leaving me to sort it out on my own and at my expense and they reimbursing only partial amount.Their staff exhibited unprofessionalism throughout the process. When I raised my concerns and requested an early termination of the tenancy due to these unresolved issues, Prospect responded with financial penalties, showing no intention to rectify their failures or meet their obligations.Considering the rent I am paying for this one-bedroom apartment, the service provided by Prospect Estate Agency has been nothing short of appalling. I strongly advise against using their services and hope others do not have to go through a similar ordeal.

I had a very disappointing experience with Prospect Farnborough. I initially called to arrange a viewing for a property that had only just come onto the market (it had been listed for no more than a few minutes). Despite having a strong financial profile and being ready to proceed, I was told that my “profile didn’t matter” because my intended move-in date was next month. I found this response dismissive and unprofessional, especially given how early the property was in its listing cycle. After escalating the issue and speaking with a manager, I was eventually allowed to view the property and proceeded to make an offer promptly. However, the communication afterwards was extremely poor. While I was waiting for an update, the property was let to someone else without any notification to me. I only discovered this by checking the listing link myself, which is unacceptable for any professional letting agent. Overall, the experience felt disorganised, poorly communicated, and lacking in basic courtesy. I would expect a much higher level of professionalism and transparency.

Great experience because of Bernadette!

We recently sold our flat in Reading with Prospects. The whole process took close to a year but Bernadette Martin at Prospects was an absolute gem and made the process that little bit easier. Excellent communication (there was an awful lot of back and forth). She always let us know what was going on, chased answers more times than I can count and helped with any issues we had post selling the house. If you’re selling a house - I’d only be recommending Prospects because of Bernadette and how much easier she made the whole process.My only negative comment is to NOT use one of the solicitors they recommend (Melia Mumford). They were by far the worst solicitors I have dealt with. Emails not replied to for weeks, despite their ‘10 working day turn around’. Would not recommend these solicitors to anyone.

Prospect (specifically Assistant Manager Beth Murphy) just completed a sale for us of a 4 bedroom property in Finchampstead. Beth gave a pretty good presentation to win our trust at the outset and we went with Prospect over several other Estate Agencies. There were a few wobbles along the way when the eventual buyers were struggling to sell their own home but Beth was great at communicating and kept the process moving along - ultimately to a completion not far short of our asking price (and in excess of what some other agencies suggested we could get). I have no hesitation in recommending Beth and Prospect.

I rented a flat under prospect for a year and have recently existed due to person reasons however prospect were nothing but informative and helpful in the exit of lease. our property manager was Vicky Crispp and during the course of the tenancy was nothing but helpful, she arranged with the landlord new sofas coming to the house due to our old ones being broken, she had the extract fans fixed and was very speedy in helping us get our deposit back due to a delay from the landlord. I would like to thank Vicky and prospect for all there help while I rented the property and say thank you for all the support they gave when existing contract.

Prospect: helpful at times but slow and uncommunicative at others

Prospect is renting a property in Frimley (Camberley) to us. We found that at times when we needed to pay money or they needed us to do some paperwork urgently then they were very quick to communicate. But when we needed something from them such as a broken Goodlord link making it hard to complete our references, then they were unable to help. They were also very slow to produce the tenancy agreement and I had to call to chase them up several times, then they expected us to complete our steps quite quickly. However, we have managed to get to the point of renting and everything else has gone fine. In particular Edward Joslin has been helpful in giving us the information required to rent the property.
