TrustpilotFantastic experience with our estate agents
We had a wonderful experience- we were all a little late as we came from all over the place but the women were so accommodating when moving into dracaena Ave. They took the time to be friendly and super easy to get along with all while making sure we understood the whole process. Couldn’t have asked for any more on a stressful move in day!!

It was the easiest experience to rent through the agency, made incredibly personable by the swift and friendly responses to any query. Kay Patmore has led the excellent team of Lucy and Natasha who have all gone out of their way to help. Kay has always dealt immediately and efficiently with all aspects of the rental process and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Smarts are a one stop shop for landlords...They handle everything we need and only when necessary, refer back to us for major decisions...absolutely brilliant. Poppy and Kay are our main contacts, but the whole team seems 100% on the ball. Thoroughly reccomended.

GoogleEmily B was one of our agents. I found her to be unprofessional and unwilling to appropriately resolve/follow up on any issues we had. I also felt like she discouraged us from disputing claims at the end of our tenancy when we had a right to. When I would call to discuss issues she seemed uninterested and complained about her workload.

GoogleThey were very good at giving advice when I bought a flat from them 3 years ago in Exmouth. Other than that I was not impressed with them. A little bit of honesty about what they were selling would have gone a long way, especially when you’re about to pay £215,000… personally, I find it unprofessional and sick. They did a great job covering up the fact there is constant neighbour noise coming through the floor from the flat below. Wasn’t it a clever sales tactic to constantly talk loudly during viewings from start to finish to cover up the noise from below, because there is no sound insulation between floors? You must be so pleased with yourselves. Who would want to live with that constantly? No wonder you were trying to sell it. Even people who are desperate to buy wouldn’t want to put up with the noise of conversation and almost permanent tv booming through the floor of their own property all the time (often starting at 6am). How can you concentrate on anything or relax in your own property? Why weren’t you honest about the reality of what you were selling at the time? Due to your nice little cover up I’m now having to fork out £10k on soundproofing the most noisy rooms to sort it out. I would never have paid the amount I did if I had known about the lack of soundproofing between floors in the building. They were also very pushy when it came to transferring money. GoogleI used to be a tenant renting privately through this agent until I moved earlier this year. God, what an utterly useless company. No response to the virtual inspection I filled out at their request, which was then followed up by a request for an in-person property inspection a few weeks later, a mere 10 days before I was due to move out anyway. When I pointed this out, they changed their mind and agreed this was unnecessary. Our landlord had decided to sell the property after we handed our notice in, and a woman from Smart arrived unexpectedly to value the house, with nobody having attempted to call or email to make us aware of their visit (other estate agents had no problem doing this). A property inspection they carried out in September 2019 showed one of our smoke alarms wasn't working properly, which we were not informed of and only found out a month before moving out, which we reported. Literally zero attempt to repair or replace the alarm had been made which is a serious health and safety issue - and, they were SO negligent that they even reported the faulty alarm as working in our exit inspection when we had reported it 2 months prior. Mistakes like that could kill someone. Avoid this company.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

We chose Smart after researching and talking to other local estate agents. They gave the most appropriate valuation on our property (and crucially made their valuation). Beyond that, they were always friendly, knowledgeable without being overwhelming, available to talk and consistent. More importantly they were true to their business ethos and word throughout the whole process. In our opinion having worked with other agents, Smart are the benchmark for the Exeter area.
