GoogleEdit: After incident Murray and Currie team was fairly helpful. "The worst agency I have ever dealt with. No organisation, awfully unprofessional and childish staff. I smelt burnt wires and wood from watertank cupboard and after calling emergency number I have been told that it is ridiculous that I am calling them at 8 pm. An I should just leave the message and wait for respond. It is outrageous, so why do they even put 24/7 emergency number? !

GoogleUnreliable and poor service. I booked a number of viewings for rental properties and made it clear I was on a tight schedule. Only when I called to confirm viewings ten minutes before the appointment was I told they were already let and there was no alternative arranged. Another viewing was arranged and again only after I called was I told they could not let me view it. Being told that your appointment was cancelled after hot footing it to the property in the pouring rain on the only day you are in the coutnry is disappointing. My budget was in the top bracket for the types of flat I was looking for. If you have time on your hands I suspect this outfit may be able to help. If you are a professional looking for a seamless relocation on a schedule I suggest going to another agent. Murray and Currie wasted time I did not have. I made this clear when I made the initial enquiries two weeks ago informing them clearly that I had only one day to look at flats. In a falling market I had assumed that estage agents would have made more effort on the behalf on their landlords. Clearly not.

GoogleUtterly shambolic. Inspections of tenanted property not undertaken and when taken to task you get passed from pillar to post with no-one accepting responsibility for anything. Emails and correspondence completely ignored. They get 1 star because that's the minimum!! Since terminating the agreement and asking for a refund of fees on the basis they didn't carry out the regular inspections I've heard nothing whatsoever. Promises, promises. Landlords beware and check they're actually doing what they're contracted to do.

GoogleUnfriendly staff who never return calls or emails Extremely unorganised - Gordon in the finance team refused to return our deposit claiming we hadn't paid rent, which we had paid by bank transfer and credit card and therefore they weren't going to return our deposit. I don't understand how a professional letting agency cannot check their income. It took 3 months to get our deposit back and that was only after we threatened to take them to court

GoogleIf you rent with them you need to hire a professional cleaning company to get your deposit back, if you clean yourself they will charge you for a professional cleaning company to clean and keep your deposit regardless of how well you clean.

GoogleI would definitely recommend Murray & Currie for all your property needs. The Senior Lettings Professional, Sara, ensured that the renewal of my flat lease was dealt with in a prompt and courteous manner. She also went above and beyond to ensure that maintenance issues were rectified as soon as possible. For example, our washing machine stopped working and she was able to have an engineer come out and repair it that day!

GoogleI rented a property in Edinburgh off Murray & Currie a couple of years back. My experience with them was really great. They acted extremely professional, were prompt and always helpful. I felt that they were representing my interests as much as the landlords interests when it came to the property we rented off them which was great. Normally this is pretty onesided towards the landlord. Anyway, I would have no hesitation in recommending their services. Craig.

GoogleQuite terrible service. We bought a place from M&C, our questions were mostly met with annoyance and left unsolved. Sales didn't know anything about the property they were selling, other than what the finish looked like (not even floor material). Eventually we did buy from them as sometimes it is your only option to have terrible property management in Edinburgh. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, hence two stars instead of one.

GoogleIf you are thinking about renting a flat with this agency, please don’t! They are absolute thieves. Took my whole deposit of £900 for cleaning even though I’d spent 2 days cleaning before moving out. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Natalie, the basis of your comment is in connection with the award by the tenancy deposit scheme. This is a legitimate process we as agents must follow. This grievance is unjustified and if you would like to make the time to meet at our office to discuss the deductions awarded by the tenancy deposit scheme to help you understand we would be delighted to do so.
