Was referred here by another company who told me Tracy McAlpine would contact me to act as solicitor for the sale of my property. She didn't. I called her office 5 times and was told she would return my call. She didn't . I booked a call back with her on their automated system.. She didn't. I sent an email to her " why is it so difficult to contact this firm ? am I wasting my time ? "She called me and told me she was very busy and that she considered that email rude. Really !!!... She then stated someone will call you regarding the business.....Too late Im afraid

Situation:First Time Buyer in ScotlandPositives:- Communication through email was generally responsive- Online portal was useful (although typically not updated that frequently)Negatives:- Our assigned solicitor was (without warning) removed from Mov8 less than a week before our completion date, placing additional stress on a challenging time- No real advice provided to a first time buyer other than "the market is not good for buyers"- Provided details for house deposit transfer on the same day as payment requested, requiring additional expense for a CHAPS transfer- Name misspelt on a number of communications

Never, will I EVER, recommend this company if you're looking for selling or purchasing a property. In the process of trying to get more money from the selling party of the house we're buying they have disregarded the fact that an NHS nurse and a Government contractor now have to pay additional money of their own pocket in order to attempt to procure storage, moving vans, and time off. In my years in the military I've never had such an incapable and greedy company dealing with key workers and a pensioner in such a disreputable way. If I could do two things it would be to ban the owners from ever being able to run a business and re-educate every employee on common decency. In short, don't waste your breathe, time, and DEFINITELY not your money, on this company.

Terrible agency that concentrates on making as much money from you rather than actually selling your property.For c.a. £4100 agency costs quote I have hoped for much more. Lack of communication, not sharing any details on the progress of sale, just completely left me in the dark until I actually found the buyer myself. Yes, I had to search for someone to buy my flat myself! When my property ads went live, shortly after Zoopla ad has gone down for 2 weeks and they didn't pay any attention until I asked my MOV8 dedicated advisor Emma Jefferson to actually take a look at it. It means that my property lost a lot of traffic at the most important time - NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY WAS RECEIVED.In around 8 weeks the property ads were live, they have barely secured 3 viewings in total. I even had to call and ask them to check their mailbox as my buyer's lawyers have submitted their offer.Note that I'm still using solicitor services from MOV8 since the contract is legal bounding without a chance for a customer to escape and get out of paying £4100 for something that they simply have done nothing about to earn it - they have just made sure you signed all of the paperwork so that you cannot get out once they disappoint you.Save yourself some trouble and choose another estate agency, if possible.
We are genuinely sorry to hear that you believe that we have engaged in any form of misleading property pricing. It is probably worthwhile to explain briefly how the property pricing structure in Scotland typically works. “Offers Over” is a standard pricing strategy in Scotland. There is no rule as to how the asking price is set but, in practice, the price is set below the desired selling price. It is similar to a reserve or a guide price in an auction. The Home Report in Scotland provides buyers with a professional chartered surveyor’s opinion as to what the property is “worth“. The market value will vary dependent upon multiple factors such as the amount of competition amongst buyers for that property. It is not unknown that, in the current market conditions, buyers will pay more than 10% or even 20% above the Home Report valuation. If you look across the marketplace, the pricing strategy that we have taken here is standard. Whilst “Offers Over” is not an optimal pricing model for buyers, as an estate agent our obligation is to represent the interests of our selling client in achieving the maximum possible selling price. In the current example, we have done nothing differently to what we, and our industry peers, typically do and we can only apologise that this has caused any concern for you as to the pricing tactics employed. MOV8 was the suggested solicitor by the builder of my new build house to handle my house purchase. MOV8 were extremely quick in sending me the paper work and were very pushy for me to conclude missives. I tried to talk to my solicitor to clarify a number of points on the missives, but she was rude and was annoyed that I had questions and kept pushing me to conclude missives. It was all too evident that she was representing the interests of the builder rather than mine, which is precisely not what you want. So I decided to change solicitor and MOV8 was all too happy to charge me a >£200 abortive fee for no work they had done.

A massive thank you to the whole team at Mov8 for their efforts in helping my wife and I sell our home for the price we wanted and needed. After initially going on the market with another agent we made the decision to change to Mov8 after a poor marketing strategy and next to none viewers. Mov8 work incredibly fast and hard to get our property on the market again after we had an offer accepted on another property. We were given a deadline and Mov8 managed to get our house remarketed, with lots on interest and sold within a week and a half of being on the market. The only thing is we wished we'd went with Mov8 in the first place. Thanks everyone.

This is the third time we've used Mov8 to sell a property for us and we've been 100% happy with the service each time. This most recent sale could've been complicated because of Covid restrictions and the fact we live abroad but in the end it went smoothly. Our valuation was delivered promptly and accurately while the sales team provided great communication and advice throughout, as well as negotiating a sale price we were very happy with. It's been three years since our last sale and we were delighted to see that Mov8 has improved on an already excellent service at a very competitive price (the fixed price meant we knew exactly how much we'd have to pay from the beginning - very reassuring for us). We would heartily recommend to everyone.
