Have only rated 1 because I could go no lower. Shocked (but not surprised) at the carefully chosen reviews which are published. We used Mov8 to buy and sell. Very poor communication from start to finish with various members of staff throughout the process which was quite confusing, including an 'executive' member of staff who abandoned a phone call mid conversation with us on the day before our move, while we were loading boxes into a van, due to HER OWN stress levels (even though we were calm) to tell us that the move was impossible on the due date and that it would only be a possibility the following week. That was 9 months ago and we're still waiting for her to call back with either explanation or apology. We also had to chase our equity. But worst of all was the complete refusal by anyone at senior level to take accountability for anything. On written complaint we were asked to give them a month to consider our case but we had to send a reminder on the deadline date at which point a very generic response was sent to us at around 6pm; assumably just to ensure they'd made some form of basic contact on that date. Our move did in fact go ahead on the due date but that was thanks to the help of an external source. The only time we had any good communication was when they emailed their invoice to us en route to our new home at around 5.30pm, after an extremely stressful day, before we had even picked up the key. Absolutely no accountability by anyone at senior level; in fact stubborn refusal to admit any wrong doing and a distinct tone of arrogance rather than any offer of apology. At one point we were told that if it hadn't been for them 'pulling out all the stops' we would not have been in our new home, when in fact the only person who pulled out any stops was the external source who offered a completely opposite first class customer service. Would seriously recommend you go elsewhere if you want more than your money to matter to them.

Absolutely brilliant with my house purchase

Mov8 were absolutely brilliant throughout my house purchase. At each stage they were proactive, responsive, and very quick to get things done. I asked lots of questions, as I wasnt sure of the process, and they were always very supportive and reassuring. Many thanks to Maxine and Emma who dealt with my offers/purchasing, Holly who did the conveyancing, and the rest of the team - they all absolutely exceeded my expectations. Myself and my wife used Mov8 and have received absolutely excellent service. From the start and right up to settlement completion yesterday, everything was handled brilliantly, we were so happy with how detailed and supportive our solicitor Iqra was. Even if I was about to email with any sort of questions, I'd receive an email from Iqra leaving me not even needing to send my email or ask anything. We never had any reason to stress and no reason to chase for any updates. Iqra was on top of it every step of the way and is very proactive in her work. It's the 2nd time we've used MOV8 services and both times it was absolutely amazing. We were buying a home and unfortunately initially we chose a different (cheaper) solicitor. That was a mistake, and we had a lot of issues and too much stress. Fortunately, MOV8 accepted to take over our case, and it was a night and day difference. Professional communication, good manners, kindness, caring for the clients, being on top of things at all times. In short, just amazing. I hope we will never have to use any other solicitor and with any future transactions this will be always our first choice. It is worth every penny for the peace of mind and good care. I would absolutely recommend Mov8 from start to finish. Every single person involved in the process of both buying and selling were extremely professional and efficient, as well as very friendly and reassuring. Each has their own field of expertise which meant that every stage was completed with vast knowledge and quickly. My house sold within a week and I had an offer accepted very quickly too. Missives were concluded on both sides with a week to spare. I can honestly say Mov8 took a massive part of the stress of moving away and would definitely use them again!

Really good experience so far

Have recently accepted an offer on my property and also had an offer accepted on a new property, both with the help of Mov8. Everything has been fairly easy so far, everyone I've spoken to throughout the process of marketing my own property and then making an offer on the new property has been great. The photographer did such a brilliant job with my photos and Mhairi was a real help when it came to negotiating the offer on my property which sold for over the Home Report value within 10 days. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Emma and Maxine were also both really helpful when it came to making the offer on my new property. I'm hopeful from my initial experience that all of the conveyancing will go smoothly.

Maxine was really helpful when we were starting to look into buying a house, and made offers swiftly and was patient. Our solicitor Kim was great, responded very fast to queries, sometimes within minutes. I didn't think we would buy the house in the time quoted (as naively I thought it seemed too quick), but we did thanks to Mov8. My only criticism is the online dashboard didn't seem to always reflect what was happening, even now it's marked as ~60% complete but we have completed buying the house. However, friendly, knowledgeable and responsive staff throughout the entire process. We would use Mov8 again in future.

Mov8 Solicitors used for the concurrent sale and purchase of a house. Got the job done. A mostly excellent service with a short period of poor service. We used Mov8 for the sale of a house in Fife to cover the purchase of a new house in Perthshire. The new client team (Maxine, Chloe, Erin) who handled our initial interactions were excellent at communicating with us through the process of making offers (2 unsuccessful, 1 successful) for a new house. They were responsive by email and could be contacted easily over the phone. When on leave the team managed to delegate seamlessly to another team member, which was particularly useful when having to bid by deadlines. When our offer was accepted on our house to purchase, it then turned to us listing our old house for sale. After going to market and accepting an offer, this is where we went through to the case managers to start the conveyancing process. Unfortunately, this is where is took a dip in service, our initial case manager (no longer working with the firm) did not respond to any emails and was latterly found out to have done very little to no work starting the conveyancing process. This was highly disappointing given the excellent communication & service we had experienced from new client team. The long story short is we found out five days before our intended 'case completion' date of the concurrent sale and purchase of our properties that our case manager had left the firm - by out of office email response. The Legal Director, Nigel, assisted by Kirsten, stepped in. In short, communication picked back up again to a very good standard. Unfortunately we had to defer our purchase/sale by six weeks, this in turn was due to delays caused from our purchasers, but with a competent case manager back at the helm we were able to conclude missives and get our purchase and sale over the line. Hopefully this is an accurate description of our experience with Mov8. Its a shame that our initial case manager didn't grasp the situation and I'm not sure what was going on behind the scenes. But for most of this process, they have been a good team to deal with and they have, got us over the line. So thank you to Maxine, Erin, Chloe, Nigel and Kirsten, our main points of contact, for your very good and reassuring level of communication and for getting a concurrent house sale and purchase complete.

Solicitors amazing but hidden fees

Our solicitor Maryanne Swan was amazing, always available, fast to solve any issues we were having and very supportive. Maryanne deserves 5 stars! The reason we rated Mov8 3 stars is because of the hidden fees, it was £400/500 more than we expected. We were quoted £1,200 but it ended up being around £1,780. We were charged for “Non-standard conveyancing fees“ such as keeping our files secure, SDLT/LBTT Form Registration Fee, Same Day Bank Transfer Fee, Mortgage Lender Portal Administration Fee and Works related to checking mortgage offer and providing Certificate of Title for lender. These are all things that should have been in the initial quote. We were disappointed as we’re first time buyers and it’s already an expensive time.Said they would be back in touch but haven’t heard anything and it’s coming up 2 years
