Really impressed with the whole service from start to finish, Kevin managed to market and succesfullly sell my property despite my constant neurotic phone calls, he guided me through the whole sales process with a steady hand and when I was flapping (as I am proned to do) he reassured me and we (well he) achieved a better price for my property than I set out wishing to achieve. From the moment that I first met Ross for the valuation of my property I was impressed if not a bit sceptical of his keen and enthusiastic approach, it seemed almost too good to be true but when Kevin then took over and dealt with the sale of my flat, he was confident he could achieve the price I wanted, which he exceeded by the way, it could not have been easier, I (well Kevin and his team) managed to market and sell my property whilst I was in another country. All I will have to do is come back to empty my stuff out and hand in the keys. Thank you so much to Kevin and your team. I highly recommend mov8 to anyone trying to sell in Edinburgh.

A first class experience with MOV8…

A first class experience with MOV8 selling our house. Extremely timely responses - often within an hour of my email - easy on line system to use to track progress. Team members happy to pick up phone and check details, which meant the whole experience was fast paced efficient and friendly! Having sold other houses and used other local solicitors I can confidently say the service from MOV8 was exceptional. In our other experiences the slow pace - lack of responding to questions - and no use of technology was extremely frustrating and a lot more expensive! A great team and MOV8 with focus on customer service and efficiency - very professional - will definitely use again and recommend unreservedly.

As selling agents, Mov8 were brilliant. They got our house on the market quickly, the schedule and web listings were all to a high quality. At one point I had queried something that should have been on the Zoopla listing but wasn't, and they chased it doggedly with Zoopla until it appeared correctly, keeping me updated the whole way. We sold our house in 3 weeks. Unfortunately, that's where our positive experiences ended - as soon as Mov8 handed us over to their recommended partner solicitors, McVey Murricane, everything became a challenge. We made the mistake of using these solicitors as our conveyancors for selling and buying, and for me, It felt like I had to chase them every step of the way, and they were very difficult to get on the phone. Right up until moving day, they seemed to drag their heels - at one point, a week prior to the planned completion date for the sale and purchase, the solicitor dealing with us actually asked me to remind her what day we were moving on! Missives didn't conclude on our purchased property until the same day of purchase, and they didn't even tell us that the sale had concluded, just texted me to tell me to go drop off the keys for our old house. I had to hassle them by email on the day of conclusion (as their phone lines were all ringing out) to find out if the keys for our new place were ready, and although they eventually said they were, when I got to the Mov8 office to pick up the keys (the seller was using them too!) the staff in the office were very apologetic but informed me that Mcvey Murricane hadn't yet sent the note to release the keys. So we had to wait around for about 25 mins while the poor girls in the Mov8 office tried to call through to Mcvey Murricane to get the keys released. Look, I can only describe my experiences of Mov8's partner solicitors. YMMV. Mov8 were great - I couldn't recommend them enough. But don't feel like you have to use their conveyancing solicitors - if we knew then what we know now, we'd have shopped around a bit for a solicitor who suited our communication style better (ie we like communication!) Moving Day is too stressful to have to put up with the additional worry of not knowing whether a sale is going to conclude or not. Don't get me wrong, McVey Murricane did manage to conclude the sale and purchase in the end, but it felt like a hard slog. I've thought long and hard about whether to write this review - it's been over two months since Mov8 found a buyer for our old property, and a month since we moved in here. I'm very much in the "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all" camp, but if we had seen more cautionary stories about choosing the right solicitor, we might have done things differently. My four-star rating for Mov8 would have been a five-star had they not recommended that we use McVey Murricane.

Awful experience

Awful experience, it took 5 months to complete a simple sale due to the unprofessional lackluster approach from this firm. Constantly lied to, they lied to their own client and to top things off they placed all of the blame on their own client! I waited patiently to purchase the property while they essentially did nothing, they actually had their client running around sorting things out rather than doing it themselves. I would strongly suggest this company needs to change their ethos and start to focus on quality and customer service over volume and profit. Take a bit of pride in your work!

Overall my experience with MOV8 was great, I was dealing with Megan Mcneil who was super patient with me, always friendly and helpful when I called up. Was nice to have someone like this to deal with when buying my first home. I felt comfortable calling or emailing if I had any questions. If she was unavailable she'd always get back to me quickly. I would use again and recommend to anyone looking for someone to help with a purchase.

Would highly recommend. Excellent service from the start. Coming from a different city, we had no idea about Edinburgh. Thanks to Paul(our advisor from Mov8), we were able to familiarise ourselves with the different areas of Edinburgh. He provided us with valuable advice on the different areas and the property that was best suited for our needs. We found many estate agents reluctant to do so and was only interested to assist us in making an offer. MOV8 was different. Paul assisted in doing a search on previous offer prices in all the properties we look at and was flexible with our needs. Staff was extremely helpful and was patient despite us making multiple decision changes. We were extremely happy and grateful for their help and would always recommend MOV8 to all our friends.

I met a few different estate agents and what attracted me to Mov8 was the simplicity of them offering an all-in fixed price service, rather than getting a percentage of the sale of the property. They seem to be one of the only estate agents who do this, and I think it is an interesting way forward. They were also able to keep this all-in price very low. It is a new approach to the industry, rather than sticking to the established norms. Mov8 were always curteous and polite on the phone, I never had to wait to speak to anyone, and they spoke like normal people rather than salesmen. I also did not feel pressured. When they came round to do the initial meeting, they didn’t chase after me or do the hard sell. The same cannot be said of other estate agents. Again this could be down to them offering their service as a fixed price rather than a percentage of sale. The property brochures that Mov8 produce are clear and to the point. During the sale of the property, Mov8 were also able to sort out a couple of things for me, even though it was not a requirement of the contract. But it is those little things that often count. Where there were issues, as there always are with selling a property, Mov8 did what they could to resolve these. We had lots and lots of interest from buyers, and many viewings, which was nice, though we didn’t get a firm offer until we dropped the price a bit. I think maybe the valuation was a little high. In the end though we were happy with the offer we got, and the sale went through fine. They say buying/selling property can be one of the most stressful experiences that a person can have, but Mov8 helped make things relatively easy and painless. Thanks Anthony

We purchased our new home through MOV8 and were very impressed with the service we received. We were provided with extended research of prices houses have sold for in the area and were advised on where the market currently is. MOV8's knowledge of the market and the advice given allowed us to keep our heads cool when bidding for a house we desperately wanted and still get it for £10,000 below Home Report Value at a closing date! Especially thanks to Paul who guided us through different strategies for bidding, yet respected our own decisions and tailored his advice to ensure that we received the best service possible based around those wishes. Also a thank you to the rest of the staff at MOV8 who always met us with a cheerful and happy to help approach when calling in. Mov8 were exceptional. James did a fantastic job negotiating with the vendor agents and Robin did a fantastic job finding a suitable mortgage (with a number of complicating factors thrown in). Both were extremely professional and kept us very well informed. Always got the sense that both were doing their utmost on our behalf. Would highly recommend using Mov8. You should be aware that the legal aspect to conveyancing (which Mov8 pass to McVey & Murricane) is quite hands off and can be quiet at times but for the fee, represents good value for money and actually the fact that communication during that part was dealt with via email alone suited us well. The sale went without hitch. Really pleased.
