Our bathroom ceiling fell in on Saturday 7th May, due to a leak coming from upstairs which is a DJ Alexander owned property. There was no emergency contact in existence, we got a voicemail message telling us to deal with it ourselves and get back in touch when the office opened Monday.On the Tuesday someone came and resealed the bath as a temporary repair and we were told they were quoting for a full renovation of the bathroom. Our letting agent had a temp repair done on our ceiling but were understandably reluctant to do a full repair until upstairs had been fully repaired so it didn't just happen again. We are now on July 4th, almost two months since the incident and DJ Alexander have done nothing. They have ignored multiple calls and emails from our letting agent, as well as from our neighbour renting the above property. So we are now still stuck with a temp repair only, which we've had to have re-secured as the leak is still coming through, and is now visibly spreading to more of our ceiling. The damp from the leak is now also spreading to our kitchen which is next door to the bathroom. Our flat is becoming unsafe, through no fault of our letting agent, and completely on DJ Alexander!

Jhuewell Hunte, End of Tenancy Property Manager asked for a PROMPT response to their email at the end of a tenancy but as I needed to discuss something with them and wanted to know when the cleaners would be cleaning the flat I emailed at 12. 30 asking them to call me back. With no response, I emailed again at 16.30 asking for a call back. I telephoned D J Alexander (on hold for more than 20 minutes) and spoke to a very helpful Aaron. He was able to tell me that Charlie Lightheart was dealing with my flat and that he would not only email her but also go to her desk to let her know I was waiting for a call back. 11.00 next day I am still waiting for a call back so that work can be instructed to turn my flat around and advertise for a new tenant. Such is the poor response from D J Alexander, I have resorted to leaving this review and intend to update it, if necessary, every hour!

My daughter rented a flat for a year through DJ Alexander. The flat was not clean when she moved in. The property agent who rented the property to my daughter apologised for the cleanliness and offered to get it cleaned, but my daughter and her friend said they’d do it themselves. I helped clean the flat, it was gross. There was a build up of fluff under the radiator in the main bathroom and when I removed it, there was a man’s old sock under all the fluff. The flat was in fairly poor repair, my husband repaired the toilet seat, which was loose and replaced the broken shower head and filthy shower curtain, at our own expense. My daughter and her friend have now moved out after a year and had the flat professionally cleaned. DJ Alexander are threatening to withhold their deposit. Firstly as they claimed many items were missing, because they were erroneously referring to an old inventory, which related to the flat when it was an Air B&B. Luckily my daughter had retained the correct inventory and was able to prove that DJ Alexander was using the wrong one. Most annoyingly they are trying to retain some of the deposit as they claim the flat wasn’t cleaned to their standard, which is an absolute joke considering the state it was in when they first rented it. The only parts that cannot be cleaned properly are the black mould on the grout in the bathroom and the edge ancient floor in the kitchen, both as a result of the age and lack of maintenance of the property. We will take DJ Alexander as far as we can to get the deposit back, to the small claims court if necessary. Renting from DJ Alexander has not been a good experience and we would not recommend them. Ironically we have just bought a flat as a rental property in Edinburgh and we will be looking for letting agents, but we will not be using DJ Alexander. We also intend to treat our tenants with respect and not try and fleece them out of their deposits.

GoogleElliott Sharkey, Sara Rankin and Abby Grigg handled the sale of a flat in Edinburgh, and took just 3 months (over the Christmas/NYE as well) to achieve a sale which ran up against many unforeseen stumbling blocks but made it work in the end. Would recommend them.

I just rented a house in Glasgow via Dj Alexander. Caroline met us at the viewing she was amazing made everything easy. She replied to every question even when it was a weekend end. Refrening and moving process was all done smoothly and promptly. Even when hading over the keys Caroline met us at the property and made sure everything was OK before she left. I Highly recommend them.
