I negotiated with 3 different estate agencies for the sale of my house in east Oxford, dealing with Alice right from the start made it an easy decision to go with Scott Fraser. Throughout the process from marketing to completion of the sale; Alice offered sound advice, was pro-active, helped with necessary arrangements and was always available to answer my questions. I also used contractors and solicitors recommended by the agents, with no problems. Alice maintains a well-balanced, friendly yet hard working and professional work ethic, and I would highly recommend her.

Unpleasant to deal with as a tenant

Agree that Scott Fraser Witney don't treat landlord and tenant equally. I felt they were condescending and felt judged repeatedly on meeting them and asking for simple advice or help. I had been looking forward to meeting them as they took over from a village rental agency who worked hard at landlord and tenant relationships and had been a pleasure to deal with. SF were not at all friendly. When I felt I had no choice but to ask for a two month discount because of being paid a lot less during the pandemic I was advised how to prioritise my spending (I have been on a tight budget for years bringing up two kids alone) and the answer was a definite no, without any pretence at care or particularly good reason. When I got an overdraft to pay my full rent this month the agent didn't acknowledge that but by mistake sent me an email intended for the landlord, saying they were pleased to see I had paid and wishing the landlord a lovely weekend - complete with smiley face. When I let them know of their mistake they apologised for sending it to me but still with the stiff unfriendly phrasing - no smiley face for the tenant or wishes for a nice weekend. They make the tenancy feel miserable with a definite sense that I am low down in their opinion and the landlord is precious.

One of the most impartial and extortionist agency's I have dealt with. Agencies are meant to work in the interest of both the landlord and tenant, however the agency clearly only works in the interests of Landlords. I rented a newly built property with the agency for 4 years on a yearly basis and throughout that time we were charged exhaustive renewal fees for both myself and my wife which differed year on year. The rent was increased yearly and most repairs were billed back to us. In yr 2 we missed a months rent due to a family setback; which we cleared in overtime. Within this time I and my wife who was pregnant at the time was threatened with eviction- this was my worst time with the agency as they were just acting on the landlords orders. Upon renewal, for no reason whatsoever, we were required to pay an additional deposit of £1,500 in addition to our initial £1500 deposit paid in Yr 1. In someway the experience with the agency was a blessing as it motivated us to buy our own property. We vacated the property and in summary, none of our deposit was returned. We expected this will happen and chose to use some of the deposit for the last months rent. The agency then came back to us with fabricated overestimated figures on damages and renovation contributions which made up to our exact outstanding deposit with TDS. Watchout for these guys as they will try to scare you with going to the TDS.

I couldn't speak too highly of Scott Fraser's service in smoothing the way from an offer being accepted to completion. For my family this was a very tricky process, as my frail parents had moved out to a care home, and there was no able-bodied relative nearby to help. So Scott Fraser stepped in to cheerfully problem-solve all kinds of issues raised by the buyer, going well beyond what I could have expected. Over the past 8 years I have used a number of agents in Oxford, for both sales and letting, with mainly disappointing to very disappointing results. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to chat to staff at Scottfraser's lettings office in Cowley and as a result they looked after my property for a year. The standard of service was excellent. Communication was prompt and clear and as a landlord by circumstance who no longer lives in Oxford I finally felt that I could trust an agent to manage my property. When I came to sell the house I had no hesitation over using Scottfraser to handle the sale and again I have been extremely impressed. The sale has not been straightforward but Scottfraser has always been on top of things and I have never doubted their judgement and professionalism. The sales and lettings teams have both acted in the best interests of me and my tenants and, again finding myself an Oxford landlord by circumstance, I would not even consider anyone other than Scottfraser to manage the new property.

Having sold our house in Headington through Scott Fraser earlier this year, we found that the whole experience was handled in an extremely professional manner. During some of the more trying moments when the upmost level of patience and professionalism was called for, we found that Edward Parkinson dealt with the whole situation extremely well and provided us with an excellent level of support. He managed to attract a number of interested parties and to sell our house above the asking price. We would highly recommend using Scott Fraser and would certainly do so again, should we be selling in the future.
