We moved into our house at Amberwood…

We moved into our house at Amberwood Chase on the 30th of July 2020. Although there are snags that need looking at, I would say that for a new built property the house looks good. I would love to let you know that Jane Jubb has been extremely helpful and has always been there for us. Steph Maier has been helpful in Jane’s absence. I do feel the sales team do a fantastic job in coordinating everything and reassuring. I would like to share that this morning I had a leak in my shower and Matt Bradwell the site manager sent in a plumber in 5 minutes and everything was sorted. In the afternoon Matt came over and reassured us too. I would definitely recommend Harron Homes.

The 7 Year Review - What happens after you buy your home..

In September 2013 we moved into our shiny new Conisbrough home, in Queensbury. There was a bit of a delay due to our kitchen not being ordered, but we moved into our new home and were so happy. The snagging list wasn't horrendous and all moved forward quickly, especially while Harron was still on site building the remaining homes. Then in December 2013 on Christmas Day we came down to a leak in our family room. We are now in 2020 and the same leak has occurred each year with the 'fix' being the last one. Last year in June we literally had a waterfall down our wall. I was gutted. It took several months for Harron to even come and fix the leak. When they did it was not when we were in, in fact we had no idea they had come until a neighbour told us a man with a ladder was looking at the roof. This puzzled us as we had normally had scaffolding up for over a week. It was several more months before a decorator came to repair the damaged paint. Again another farce, as he was told we had a white plot, where it was magnolia and he didn't have the correct paint. It is now 2020 and our balcony has leaked for the 2nd time, yet to be rectified correctly. Our family room just 4 months after being repainted leaked once more, this time the worst it has ever been. Harron argued each time that the leak was not the same, despite photographs to prove otherwise. To put this into perspective they no longer build our house style due to the balcony leaks. Then a break for Harron, Covid hit and they shut down their office completely. Even now we can only speak with someone via email and have been told no one is working, which is ridiculous, especially now I am seeing the most recent reviews and their website that show homes and sales offices are now open. I am not the only one in our development this has happened to or on other developments. We are now wanting to move home but cannot put our home on the market due to damage caused. In my opinion I would not buy a Harron Home. Their sales team are lovely and the houses look amazing, In the light of day they are made with cheap materials and the after sales care is diabolical.

Shocking customer service

Completed in dec 2018, still waiting for site to be finished and snagging to be completed. If you want a new build to move into straight away don’t go with this company! Ignorant staff.

In 2018 we Purchased a house with harron homes supposidly on a award winning 5 star development within West Yorkshire. Firstly we were forced to complete the house purchase on 21st December 2018. In the afternoon we got the call to say it had completed and we could collect the keys. He got to the house before myself he rang me and said we can’t move in I’ve just gone to the house it isn’t finished. We were promised fitted carpets etc. They handed the keys over and said you can’t move in yet you have no carpets. The site manager had quit a fortnight before he rang all he contractors and cancelled all orders rebelliously. They managed call around and get carpet and fitters the next day but my god my 7 year old could have probably for it better. They cut the carpet too short either side of the landing they had to come back and fix it. Out of the 6 bedroom carpets in the house half of them shrank and needed to be stretched. None the less the carpet was the least of our worries. We were left with holes in the walls with unearthed cables poking through, holes in the walls through out the kitchen and utility where they should have smoothed the edges after putting in the electric sockets they had moulded in with finger and hand prints. The fire door into garage from the utility hadn’t been finished or plastered. It was freezing throughout the house, the patio in the dining area had a huge gaping hole under it where if you lifted the carpet you could slide your hand through. The windows marked with what looked like mud but when we tried cleaning them it was actually spark burns on the glass from an angle grinder. They didn’t fit a down pipe from the en suite bathroom they didn’t tell us for over 2 week so when the site came back after Christmas there were sewerage all down the sid of the house. They also used a part of our land/garden to the side of our house as storage for the materials for the other new houses when we asked to move it they refused. In the end due to scaffolding having to go up and external work to be fixed and a new f nice to be put in we didn’t have a garden to the rear of any kind until late summer 2019. With three children and three dogs we were at a loss. We got a small offer of compensation but not a single person would take responsibility for the state of the houses. Our site had meetings with the head of the construction team and a few of the labourers and contractors and he was arrogant in the meeting. We have been in 2 years December this year. Don’t get me wrong they have come back done some of the jobs but they have you in waiting for weeks for appointments they make to fix things and no one turns up, then when you ring nobody gets back to you. Now with the covid we’ve been waiting for speed calmining measures to be put in and street lights. None has been on site since the beginning of January. The trim trial isn’t complete. And the residents have been charged an annual fee yet we are having to cut the grass on the areas that we Gould to need to. Our house is nearly complete but I would admit because harron are diabolically crap and slow and they lie we have had to do some of it ourselves.Take a word of warning buy a house that needs doing up abit, it will be cheaper and less stressful for you. And you probably won’t have to put up with the horrendous management, lies and complete bull they give you when you ring. Also as an update from this week; our site had been adopted by the local council, shockingly however it isn’t complete. We haven’t got the correct amount of street lighting, part of the street has it I’ve been chasing this along with the speed calming measures that should have been placed around the same time. Also recently the street has come together to get our local mps involved in regards to the community park and trim trial that on purchasing we were told were for harron customers only but actually in the documentation states that it’s for anyone to use is in complete (Friday the swing has been relaxed from the big ugly blue thing to a lot wooden one which blends in) and the tree and orchard area has never been finished off it makes the development look a right mess. Another thing is we were told there were a premium to be paid annually and a company will come and cut the grass etc and that hasn’t been done since the back end of last year beginning or earlier this year the residents are having to club together to cut the grass back etc. Also the curbing and also the road tarmac is of poor quality and workman ship!Thankfully it seems that the residents on this development are more on the ball than Harron Homes sticking to the plans that were submitted and should have been followed. I wish that residents would have warned us before putting our money down on a house that we thought would be a new build and all we would have to do is move our belongings from our previous address to the new build.disappointing!

Downsizing from a 4 bed to a 3 bed.

Visited Michelle at Thoresby Vale on 18/4/22 to look at downsizing to a 3 bedroom Alderton. At Michelle’s suggestion we physically visited one that was nearly complete to make sure that it was met our requirements. We really appreciated this as it made up our minds. So thank you Michelle for putting yourself out and making us feel valued clients. Looking forward to being in a Harron home.Steve and Jane Bramwell.

One week in Howden

We are one week into our time here at Harron Homes on the Howden site and even through Covid the sales and purchasing team have been excellent even through issues with our buyers on our chain. A big thank you to Angie and Caroline for easing our fears and keeping us up to date, while helping us every step of the way.Our site manager Scott has given us clear details and helped with a skip after we moved in to clear rubbish from the move and packaging. Everything we have asked for is fitted and the build quality is great, a few snags that have now been resolved and one that is being worked on. We love our new home. So far we can't complain and are excited for our future in our new house, hopefully the good work continues.

Myself and my partner have just purchased our first home from the lavender fold site. We could not be more happier with our purchase! From the moment we walked into the baybridge showhouse we fell in love! Buying the showhouse came with all our boxes completed on our list ! Harron helped us with our mortgage and our solicitors and when covid-19 hit us they was absolute amazing they rang weekly for check ups with our move and how things were going to work . Understandably our complete date was rescheduled to September .. but amazingly Harron came through and we managed our original date of June ! We have been in our property for nearly a week now and we still have had follow up calls and sit manager checking we are all ok and sorted and the house is as it should be. I could not recommend these people enough Thanks to sharon and Tracey for everything with the house and big thanks to Andy who got us everything ready for our move in. We love our forever home X

Homes not fit for purpose and non-existent customer service

We've now lived in our Harron Home since November 2018 at the Edenbrook vale site and do like the layout of the home which is the only positive I can say but we are constantly finding new issues even after 19 months in the property. If you want a home where you are told to simply live with your issues Harron is the right company for you. When we started purchasing our house we were promised a premium quality and a premium customer service what we got was corners cut everywhere and non-existent customer service for a premium price. Once they have your money all communication stopped, even an auto-response stating they have received your email seems like too much work for Harron to accomplish. We gave a list of issues a month before moving in and chase up a few days before moving in only to be met with silence, upon chasing it up with the sales staff we received an email confirming they had all been fixed. When we got the keys not only had the house not been cleaned as we were told it would be, they had only "fixed" 7 out of 65 issues, of those my favourite fix was where we were missing both the door sensors on the alarm we had paid extra for, instead of adding the sensors they had simply filled in the holes where the cables should have been. On moving in we had no hot water and heating wasn't working correctly. The site manager never materialised at handover nor did any subsequent visit or contact from anyone at Harron .We were told appliances would be tested before moving in, many weren't even plumbed in and the ones that were were incorrectly done so, we spent 12 weeks without a washing machine which Harron told us they would fix only to find after 10 weeks that we would have to fix it ourselves. Other issues like the heating taking hours to warm up the house if it even managed to reach temperature and the thermostats being wired to the wrong rooms, Harron kindly waited while after winter had finished before fixing those. We've been told to not use the thermostats on the radiators as they don't serve much purposes as turning them to just above 3 or below just means they are off as Harron has used 10mm instead of the 12mm piping according to Harron's own plumber. All the glassed doors were scratched many others were damaged or bowed, and don't fit flush or no longer fit in the frame, not to mention the fact that they look like they have been fitted by the ladies in the sales office in their spare time, but Harron refused to do anything about those. Electrical issues include the kitchen lights flashing when we turn on the living room lights which we were told its not dangerous so just live with it, isolation switches to kitchen appliances not working, and appliances not wired up to manufactures guidelines. Our garden has now started collapsing at the bottom into the site behind due to a lack of appropriate groundwork. Its was a nightmare to get anything resolved as from over 300 emails we have around 30 responses and we have only ever once had my call returned. On occasions when you do actually get someone attending it gets fixed but then you get left with other issues or half-finished jobs, or Harron doesn't book tradesmen for long enough to complete tasks, or they're expected to do jobs which aren't theirs. On one occasion I even got told a snagger would be at my house for 3 days so booked the time off work, he arrived promptly the first morning only to leave after about an hour for a tool to cut a kitchen panel only to not return while lunchtime on the 3rd day for another 2 hours fixing the panel only to then discover that the panel was the wrong colour, so we now have 1 kitchen panel in a yellow off white colour and the rest being gloss white, a waist of 3 days and only 1 issue got semi-fixed. Me and my wife use a total of 43 days holiday to get issues resolved, and that's just the ones Harron agreed to fix.Harron's methods of fixing them seemed to ignore it and it will go away as at one point we were told we could only contact 1 person who neither responded to email nor returned phone calls. Harron will do anything to get out of fixing issues, we eventually made a claim with the LABC to get some issues fixed but not all fixed. Even with the LABC claim, Harron tried getting out of fixing problems, telling me we had changed to locks (which we had not done) on the garage door to avoid replacing the broken handle. It was fixed but only after I went round the entire estate looking or another garage door with a identical lock. We have recently found more issues but due to previous experiences we are in two minds if to report them to Harron as we will waste hours chasing them up often to no avail and it's often simply more cost-effective time-wise to pay someone else to fix it or that the fix will be rushed and leave me with another issue or a half-finished job if completed by Harron.

Management and customer care team from…

Management and customer care team from Harron homes is incredibly poor. Logged a leak on December 17th, it took several attempts to fix, a visit from a director and many many phone calls from us chasing for them to recognise what the issue actually was. We have had scaffolding up since February and this has only just gone down. Whilst we have been very patient given the COVID-19 situation we are now still being ignored on when we can expect final work to be completed despite government guidance having been out for the last month which clearly states the go ahead. There is no aftercare which they promise. We have lived in our new build for over 12 months now and have never received follow up calls to see how we’re getting along as promised. The houses are lovely, but if you want the new build experience for a ‘luxury’ development I would highly recommended NOT using Harron Homes as the follow through is unbelievably bad for the amount of money spent. We have tried to be patient and understanding but there has been no acknowledgement or learning applied.

Crich, beautiful location and a great home design

My wife and I moved in to our new HH house in Crich on 22nd April during the height of the Covid19 epidemic. The team at HH were absolutely brilliant in doing what they could to make the move as stress free as possible during a very testing time. In fact, the whole sales process from start to finish dealing with Kim, Julie and Nathan was a great experience. The good thing is that even after we moved in Kim is still there if we need her. The site manager Wayne really cares about the development, and although he hasn’t been there long, is making a big difference. The design of the house is stunning, which is a big differentiator for HH from other builders. The location, in beautiful village, is a great place to live, with endless walks from the door and good village facilitates to use such as butchers, bakers, pubs and a village shop. In terms of the quality, other than things I knew about before moving, we have not had any serious issues to date. Based on our initial experience I am happy with the purchase and will post an update again once we have settled in a bit more.

We have recently purchased a Harron Home plot at the Amberwoodchase location. We agreed on a part exchange following a quick desktop valuation and then reserved the ‘Birkwith’ property. As we bought one of the last houses that were being built on this site we did not get a chance to see a show home as they were sold. But Jane arranged it with the site manager for us to see a near completed Birkwith house. I've lost count to the number of times I called Jane with various questions but she was always courteous and took her time answering my queries The service provided by Jane Jubb and her team has been second to none so far and we are looking forward to moving into our new house in the coming months. We highly recommend Harron homes to anybody looking to purchase a new build property.

We would also like to say thank you to Brian the site manager and Andy, deputy manager who have made it clear they are here to help us and make sure we have the home we wanted. As with any new build home there are always snags to sort out. As we moved in just before lockdown our snags are being noted and we have been assured they will be sorted as soon as it’s safe for us and the team on the site. I previously rated my home 4 stars however since living here there have been many thing that I have uncovered and now I am unhappy with the property. Poor workmanship throughout. Harron use quality materials but the tradesman employed are poor. Erecting our fences over 2 manholes who does that?? We were told during handover that our wardrobe that wasn't fitted would be as soon as possible and our soil would be rotivated. That was almost 2 months ago and we haven't even been told when this might happen. Then there is the fact we have raised our issues 12 days ago and still awaiting a personal response. I feel like we were rushed into our house at the start of lockdown so Harron could get their money and we have been ignored since. We paid almost 300 grand this is not satisfactory.

Very happy customers

Through no fault of our own (or Harron Homes), our journey from reserving to completing was quite stressful. However, Ann Lawler in the Sales Office was always so supportive, guiding us through the process, putting up with our endless phone calls and helping us in whatever way she could. Lavender fold

Lavender fold! We purchased our house on Friday we haven’t yet moved in. There are a few thing I noticed for the snag list. One of our fitted wardrobe is missing, our back garden need sorting the soil hasn’t been rotivated and our front hasn’t been turfed and our drive seems to be thinner than all neighbouring plots. Our move was originally mid February delayed to end of March which wasn’t great as that when I returned from maternity leave. Update weren’t always given as promised. We however still love the house it is beautiful and we have had pretty good service. A shout out to Andy the site manager he is fab, super helpful and friendly.

Really pleased we moved to Heritage Green!

Our experience of purchasing our house on Heritage Green and part exchanging with Harron Homes has been quick, simple and stress free. Nathan and Jeanett were straight forward as a Sales Team. Very easy to deal with. Properties are freehold (not like a previous review suggested). They aren't built on top of each other like a lot of other new build sites. The estate is really well presented. We have been in our new house for a few days now and our snag list is surprisingly very low!! Overall, we're really happy with the experience we've had and we're very pleased we decided to move here!

The Harron Home Experience has been the…

The Harron Home Experience has been the worst experience of my life and I beg you to buy elsewhere. The customer charter is not worth the paper it is written on. I moved into my property on 13th December 2019, the previous week we did the home demo and noticed paid for items outstanding. We were told these would be in for move in day...Fast forward to 24th March 2020, 16 weeks into this. All I can say is if I had a receipt I would give the house back. I am still waiting for my paid for items to be installed. I have had 2 snaggers round who have pasted my walls throughout my house with polyfiller and left it like that, stating it is not their job to sand down and paint. I should have white walls throughout but these are brown/yellow colour, as a result of being painted when the plaster was wet. I have a staircase falling to bits. Drains smelling. Doors I cannot shut, scratched windows, missing cement, damaged bricks and cement all over walls...I could continue...The level of incompetence up the management chain is unbelievable. I don’t buy for one second that sites are run by mercenaries! They must have someone to report to at head office. They are passing house off that are in a terrible state.Communication is non-existent and you never know who is dealing with you or what is going on. You are constantly chasing move in dates, if it is on track, work being carried out and whether workmen are turning up. I have lost count how many annual leave days I have wasted staying in for workmen to arrive that don’t!I strongly recommend visiting my house prior to buying a home with Harron and I can guarantee the ‘luxury’ and ‘quality’ they pride themselves on will soon be wiped! Especially seeing the cowboy workmanship and bodge jobs. When in your property you will see many workmen on site and parking outside your property, not a problem. However, the problems arise when they walk past your house and work on unoccupied houses knowing fair well that your house is not in an acceptable state. Site and head office allow this to happen and it is a kick in the teeth. Which goes to show when they have your money they are absolutely not bothered about the aftercare. The process of complaining in is unclear and when you ask for the policy you are ignored. I strongly advise anyone to not buy a Harron Home, if you value your sanity and health. As once they have your money they completely ignore you, your issues and problems.I am considering legal action over this experience. In reply to Harron Homes,I am sick to death of asking questions and chasing Nicholas to get answers. I think there needs to be a lot of internal questions as to why my house is in such a state. I appreciate what you are saying that customer care know about my case, yet nothing has been done.It is approaching 4 months now and internally and externally the house is of poor quality. The quality and luxury is non-existent in this property. Gaps externally in the brickwork, gaps around the facias and windows. Ultimately the workmanship is atrocious. I have paid for items which are still not in my property, which is a breach of contract, and I am told these are not being disputed so maybe someone could explain why workmen, who were on site all last week could not install these? I have no outside tap to water my turf due to the incompetence of someone at Harron, I now have to traipse a hose pipe through my house, leaving doors unlocked and open. This was a suggestion by a manager which I would argue is irresponsible and unsafe! But the said manager has said Harron will not cover the turf if it was to die!Honestly please think twice before buying a Harron Homes!

Snagging still not complete after 3 YEARS- HARRON IGNOR EMAILS!!

Moved in 3 years ago. We bought what we thought was high quality floor coverings for the entire house that should have been fitted prior to us moving in. We thought it would take the hassle out of the move with having 4 young children (one of which a newborn) On moving day we exchanged contacts, collected the keys & arrived with our removals company to find that the carpets were in the process of being fitted. The amtico that we had paid for was not fitted as the floor had only just been screeded so we could not step foot in our brand new kitchen for days after. We paid extra money for the removal firm to just sit & wait outside our house with 4 young children in tow then because the guys could not stay past 9pm due to other commitments we had to pay for their service for another day to finish the job off- to which harron homes would not accept responsibility for or pay for the second day (even though had they fitted the floors sooner we could have moved in within the agreed timescale)After moving in there was LOTS of snagging but we were ok with that and just accepted it however 3 years after moving in with ongoing emails & calls they have failed to complete snagging, the floors we paid for are faulty and one is even too short but no one will respond to my messages. I have been MORE than reasonable, I fact on one occasion when Harron Homes did send out two work men whom they employed their workers went through our belonging, may crude company’s about our family members (including one of our children) and made fun of the state of the white washed all’s that had kids finger marks on going down the stairs (the fact being that we couldn’t decorate until certain snagging had been completed). This was caught on internal home security systems and emails to management, we received a measly letter of apology and said they would complete work ASAP but that the ‘gentlemen’ concerned would not even be allowed on our development again. These were complete lies as one worked on the house next door two weeks later! And ALL OF THE SNAGGING & THE FAULTY FLOOR COVERING STILL REMAIN!Absolutely disgusting!!

Hereford - Amberwood Chase

We have just moved into our new home, which is a Hereford on the Amberwood Chase site.We are over the moon with our dream house. There’s been a bit of snagging which is to be expected in a newly built house however this has been resolved promptly. Matt Bradwell has been amazing and has provided an excellent service. Anything that we have needed, he has helped us out and he has made this whole experience worthwhile and rewarding. Everyone that I have spoken to, whether it’s home owners on the street or the workman have got nothing but praise for Matt and he’s doing an amazing job on this site. Thanks again Matt and I truly hope Harron Homes give you the recognition that you deserve.

Purchase on lavender fold site

I have recently purchased a new build from Harron homes on the lavender fold site. From the start the sales office staff, Sharon and Eileen, were fantastic - I must admit, first off, I thought it was till I bought a house, but that excellent customer service continued till the day of completion and after - Sharon, in the sales office, has always gone above and beyond, even to the detriment of her own personal time - for that I can’t thank her enough The only issue that doesn’t quite make this a 5 star, is how quick Harron want to complete, even when the house isn’t quite ready. That’s such a shame, as the experience of buying and the customer care is brilliant, but rushing people into the property does slightly ruin the experience. Once in we’ve found the aftercare excellent, site manager more than helpful and anything that requires attention got sorted. Overall the quality of the home is excellent and the Finnish is great, especially the bathroom and kitchen - good quality cupboards and bathroom suit. The guys on site are approachable and very helpful and the sales office staff go above and beyond. I love my new home!

Purchased a Leasehold property

Purchased a Leasehold property, which the implications were not fully explained. Neither was the service charge nor management company. Just told it would £100 a year cost towards cutting grass. Property was not ready on completion as around 30 men were still in house on the date of completion, no builders clean, no carpets, no garage keys, missing cupboard shelves in kitchen. I had issue after issue and no use of ensuite for months as sewage kept coming back up through shower and Harron would not send anyone. After 6 months we had our own insurance send out someone to inspect drains and it was found that they had not even linked outlet pipe to main drains. Been an awful experience. Still have outstanding issues and now been in for almost 4 years. Been waiting 2 years for driveway to have repairs. Think we are now next on list! Still missing cupboard shelves. We do love the style of the house, house brickwork and size of rooms. However, we are a divided community freehold/leasehold and even more divided informal or formal methods being used to purchase freehold as properties that are leasehold on estate are not sellings when put up for sale. It has been a really stressful experience!Plot 14 Edenbrook Vale

Incompetent company

Unfortunately there's not an option for no stars as I found out when I left a review in August 2018 concerning our house so I won't mention that but feel free to go read it.Our street in The Granary in Eggborough has been completed and fully occupied for 3 years and been in total darkness for all of that as the street lamp has never worked, which was pretty dangerous when it's a block paved pedestrian street in the middle of winters. Finally after 3 years and numerous attempts to turn the street lamp on Harron Homes have now dug up the block paved road and managed to successfully turn the lamp on.They clearly have zero competence in organising anything from houses to street works , personally I would have connected the lamp years ago before the block paved road was laid.
