A pleased to do business with

A pleased to do business with. We needed a speedy purchase and between the team at Harron Homes (especially Jacquie McSherry and Darren) and Deborah Billingsley at Gordons LLP we were in our house in four weeks. The property is everything we wanted and the standard of finish is truly excellent. Highly recommended.

Avoid like the plague...Harron Homes' Senior Management non-existent, waste of time. Look elsewhere!

I have rated my experience with Harron Homes as 1 star because this is the minimum rating trusted pilot will allow, otherwise this would be a zero rating. In actual fact the 1 star is justified because the two current ladies in the Kings Croft Killinghall Sales & Marketing Suite have been absolutely fantastic, 5 out of 5! (Caroline & Louise). My journey with Harron Homes began around January 2019 when I tried to part exchange. I met with the Part Exchange Manager, who arranged valuations from local Estate Agents. We agreed a part exchange price only to be told at the very last minute that because my apartment was Grade II Listed Harron Homes would not proceed with the part exchange!I then listed my property & waited to sell it on the on the open market. I sold the apartment just as we entered into the first lockdown (end March 2020). On exchanging contracts I was then able to proceed with an Early Bird Reservations on my preferred plot.In December 2020 a week before Christmas the plot was released, £14,000 more than any other house of the same style on the Kings Croft development. Harron Homes knew I'd been interested in this particular plot for well over a year and in my mind took advantage of the situation. I was given 2-3 days make a decision on whether I wished to proceed & agree any incentives. This left me in an extremely difficult situation needing to find further funds to proceed with the purchase. I was given an estimated completion date of April to June 2021January 2021, Harron Homes excavated the foundations & poured the concrete footings. There was no further progress until early March when the foundation work finally started after I met with the Site Manager, raising my concerns over the June 2021 completion date. This is when my worst nightmare started!!!Having little confidence in Harron Homes ability to build quality executive homes I have been using a drone to track the progress on my build, collating well over 300 images of the construction at every step. The first issue I reported to Harron Homes in person & via email (drone images) to the Site Manager, & Senior Management Team including the Contracts Manager, Construction Director & Managing Director was an issue with the blocked air vents under the ground floor slab. (at that stage block & beam floor had not been laid) No response and to this day I do not know whether this was ever resolved. After the ground floor slab had been poured the blockwork commenced at the beginning of May 2021. It was beginning increasing evident to me that June's completion date was looking extremely unlikely.Words cannot describe how atrocious the quality of the blockwork was, from badly cut blocks, to poorly filled perpends to missing wall ties! The quality of the stone work was equally as bad, poor setting out bay window, meter box DPM on the wrong course, uneven mortar bed depths & scruffy pointing. All these points were raised with the Site Manager & Senior Management Team (Directors), but yet work still commenced to the same poor standard. After dozens of emails & calls two of the Directors finally arranged to meet with me in person. Neither of them acknowledged there were issued with my plot, or Harron Homes' shortcomings. Neither of them said "Sorry this is not good enough...we will fix it".The Construction Director told me in the meeting "Your house will be completed by the 22nd August & I will personally hand you the key"Works continued on my plot until early June 2021 and at this stage they had completed up to first floor joist level (no joists fitted). None of the numerous deflects had been addressed.I continued to email the Senior Management Team with photographic evidence of the deflects without reply....complete radio silence.Roll on to the beginning of July, Harron Homes move on their Site Manager & brought in a new Site Manager. You could argue that this is Harron Homes finally indirectly admitting failings. The new Site Manager has assessed all plots & remedial works has been carried out on numerous plots included mine (internal blockwork).... again Harron Homes indirectly admitting failings & justification for my emails. (no apology) I have continued to report issues with the stone work, including the bay window, meter boxes & the rear wall of the house. None of these have been addressed & the Senior Management Team will not reply to my emails & numerous phone calls. (more radio silence)The construction of my house is further back than its position in the June, Harron Homes are still not up to first floor joist level. The anticipated completion date pushed back to November 2021, however I am not holding my breath. So far Harron Homes have cost me approx. £19,000 in Stamp Duty & additional rent, plus they are not building the executive home I have agreed to pay for!!!

Its not often i complete these things

Its not often i complete these things, but i thought this worthy of a mention. I cannot thank Michelle at Thorseby Vale enough with help and assistance she has provided for the purchase of my new home. I was looking at a property from another close by developer on the same development but popped into Harron Homes really on the off chance and spoke with a lady called Jo. What a wonderful person she was, she only had several minutes before her next appointment, but found time to see myself and sister, it was that and her total focus on customer care which made me choose Harron Homes

They don't resolve complaints just delete them

Do I start with the delay after delay on completion and moving date, or the lack of after sales care when then money is handed over or more pressing issue of Harron Homes finishing the site 3 years ago, sorry when I say finishing I mean packing up and moving to the next site. How a builder can sell homes and then move on without finishing the roads and leaving sunken and blocked drains is totally baffling. Clearly have no intention of finishing what has been paid for. I've seen the negative reviews have all been reported to trust pilot as fake so before you give me the standard response you can easily find me. I handed a considerable amount of money over to purchase plot 15 Ravenswood fold im sure you have that on your database. Or do I need to request another DSAR to refresh your memory. Edit: Just seen your response and despite having my name, site and plot number you claim to not be able to verify me. That is some shockingly poor record keeping and just backs up my comments.

After a few huccups along the way, we are in the process of completion on our new home at Oaklands Heath. Made to feel supported throughout by Sharon

From the moment we stepped into the development office Sharon was very helpful and friendly, helping us decide if this was the house for us… it was. We managed with the help of Sharon to get in on the day we wanted, albeit a little late down to the solicitors. There were a few issues when we moved in that the assistant site manager sorted after some time, with support from Sharon again most things were done. We are still waiting for a couple of snags. As we part exchanged we had a clean and tidy deposit which we struggled to get back for a while but once again Sharon helped us get this secured back. All I can say is that our experience was all down to Sharon being there 100% for us! This would be a totally different review if it weren’t for her. Thank you. The house is as we expected, A few snags but nothing too big. Not had any dealings with the after care team yet but with Sharon by our side we have no worries.

3 weeks living in my new Windsor Home at Far Grange Meadows

My new home is fabulous! Harron’s interesting home designs and location of the site first drew me here. After moving in, the quality of the finish, fixtures & fittings are all excellent, and I do have a bit of an eye for detail. Harron’s Kitchen, Bathroom, Decorating & Flooring contractors have all done very high quality jobs. I ordered a significant amount of extras and everything was installed exactly to plan. As with all new builds, some snags have been observed, and have either been rectified already, or appointments fixed for the remaining work. A special thanks and acknowledgement to Neil in Site Management, his follow ups & care since I moved in has been exemplary. My entire customer experience with Harron has been excellent, from Reservation and through the Part Exchange process, then working with Harron’s recommend Solicitors & Financial Advisor, the updates from the Site’s Sales Team and from HQ. A big thanks to Sandra who looked after me initially, and then especially to Claire & Sharron when we were approaching completion. One very happy customer and new resident at Far Grange Meadows.

The Grange - Shireoaks

We moved into our new home in Shireoaks back in February. Unfortunately for all of us, Harron Homes included the world was in a very difficult place which of course made the process of purchasing a new house, a new build at that more complicated! Jo - Sales Advisor and Steve - Site Manager did everything they could and were allowed to do at the time , to help us through it. We weren’t able to go into our new house after first fix due to Covid rules and didn’t see it, our choices and extras until demo day, 4 days until we were due to move in.There were a few mistakes and snags to be rectified but the team got onto them straightaway. Some were done before moving in, others have been done since when Covid rules have allowed workmen to come in, others we are still waiting for as materials are delayed which is out of their hands! There seems to be many negative comments on here from others on the estate, we appreciate everyone has different experiences and opinions but in our view, this is the third new house we have purchased and Harron Homes have certainly been the best, in sales keeping us informed all the way, in the building stages and the standard of fixtures and fittings in the finished house! Not only that they are working under considerably pressure due to Covid rules and regulations and a Site Manager who has be extremely ill!!! THANK YOU Jo, Steve, Todd and all the team at Shireoaks you are doing a good job, we love our new house and the village it’s in 💞

Work in progress @ Oaklands Heath

Moved into Oaklands Heath a week ago. First impressions are not great.I have created a Facebook Group for the residents of the estate to join. It would be good for residents to share notes. On to the build, I have a substantial snagging list, the house looks nice, however get up close & take a look at the finish & it is poor, beading incorrectly fitted, doors buckled, fire doors rattling in the frame, heating incorrectly installed, water pressure poor & standing water within 1m of the house.Looking forward to see if Harrons team here attempt to tackle the snags.21/12/2019 - Having stated on the 19th it would be difficult at this time of year to get a hold of someone to work he would attempt to get someone; The sales team pulled a snagger off of a house due to complete across the road to look at my glaring issues. He was visibly perturbed by the finish & wanted to speak to Harron to allow him to work an extra shift on the Saturday to resolve some of the issues. Imagine my suprise when speaking to the sales team stating that Jason wouldn't authorise him to. He had the man he believed would be difficult to get ahold of but decided not to allow him to work on our home. Review reduced to 1*02/01/2020 - Made some progress prior to Christmas; managed to get a snagger in on Xmas eve to rid us of some of the most obvious snags. Have a meeting tomorrow to review everything else left on my list. Review lifted to 2*18/01/2020 - Trust is being restored. Snag list is getting shorter & the communication from the team onsite has improved dramatically. I think the lesson of the last month is never move homes in December.03/07/2021 - Having given them leeway during the covid pandemic, it is beyond a joke. Drainage issues in the rear garden, half the doors in the house need rehanging as they don't close, leaks around 4 windows causing damage and not a peep or response from Harron to phone calles (Say they will ring back but never do), 17 emails to everyone in Customer service & on the board of directors for HH Yorkshire and the group have received not a response.I will continue to update this review both up & down as the weeks progress.

We're in! (Thanks Ann!)

I've just moved into a new home on the Forresters View estate. Moving house is stressful, but the professionalism, care and kind nature of Ann Lawler, Harron's Sales Executive, made it bearable (and even fun). From the start, Ann looked after us, advised us, gave us guidance and support. She was has lots of experience and was able to use that to steer us through all the highs and lows over the months. Throughout she stayed positive, up beat and reassuring. She is also patient. . .she was happy for us to call, email and visit the site multiple times as needed. She kept us updated and in the loop every week. This is the first time I have bought a Harron Home and because of Ann I would not hesitate to do so again or to recommend Harron. It is rare these days to find people who take pride in their work and genuinely care about customers like Ann does. We also appreciate and want to thank Helen and the Harron managment team for giving me the time I needed to sell my house so I could then secure my dream house.

Hockley Crescent - Boroughbridge

Hockley Crescent - Boroughbridge. We have been in our house since the end of February and we love it. The house style is fantastic and we are extremely happy. Did we have snags when we first move in, yes, of course - but most of this was sorted almost immediately. In terms of the site itself, a special mention must go to Ivan on site. Ivan is extremely approachable and will answer any queries or questions that I may have. Ivan has sorted out any issues that I have had and is always willing to help! It really gives comfort to me knowing that Ivan can get any issues sorted. Top man. I think all sites could do with a site manager like Ivan!

Moved in finally thanks to Mark, Jacquie, Nick, Phil and Paul at Oaklands Heath…

Jacquie at Oaklands Heath has been really amazing. You read all the negative reviews and you worry about one of the biggest decisions that you have to make. We were introduced to the assistant site manager the day of our reservation and had regular input and quick responses from the site manager through the sales team. This allowed us to to feel we had allot of input into the specification of our new home. The reservation was straight forward and we were given everything we needed including plans of our new home. Since we made our reservation we have had regular updates about our build and a quick response to questions we have had about our new home. Updated 20/6/21. We have had the usual snagging, which harron have been really quick and everyone (I forget names and numbers) that has been sent in to help have been really friendly and accommodating. We had quite a wait to our plot but feel we have had good value for our investment so. Thanks Phil, Mark, Nick and Paul (on site) for sorting most of our snags within a month of moving into our new home!

The Grange - Shireoaks : Warts and all..

Say Blackstone Drive to anyone of Harron’s North Midlands team and they should know all too well how much of a disaster their end of 2020 was. What should have been a dream home move and dream Christmas was marred by a house that was incomplete, rushed and signed off with an absolute disregard for quality and care about the product they were producing. We were rushed through the buying phase because the previous sale had fallen through, so had all of 1 day to choose all of our spec. There was no extras list so we had no idea what was and wasn't available. We weren’t asked about electrics so had to make a point of requesting where we wanted things, only to then not be invited to a pre-plaster inspection and left with light fittings and sockets in places we wouldn’t have chosen. It has taken 6 months to get anywhere with them to finally organise and start arranging works, but through all that, we’ve suffered site managers making promises and then disappearing, process and documentation not followed, and a “Customer Care” team that either make excuses or more often, do not respond at all. You will likely receive no documented list of what has been agreed to, no timeline, and no commitment whatsoever in the written word.It has been, and will be a fight to get anywhere. I could have taken a holiday in the Maldives with my loss of earnings from dealing with this company over the last 6 months..We were left with a Garage that had not been finished and cleaned which was unusable upon moving in and a Red Bull can left in our gutter outside our bedroom window (it took five and a half months to get rectified despite both being identified on the day we moved in on 18th December 2020). Neither of which were impacted at all by Harron’s favourite excuse of how hard things have been with Covid-19. Which is interesting because their build schedule certainly hasn’t slowed, they’re throwing them up at the same rate regardless with multiple contractors in the same property even when the same restrictions were in place that prevented them from coming into our home.Add to that a list of over a 100 things, including a lawn about as level as the Peak District, a block paved drive that doesn’t flow into the drain, which is also co-incidentally blocked by rubble and screws, damaged Velux window frames, scratched glass and some of the shoddiest plaster and paintwork you’ll find.Don’t get me wrong, the layout of the house is great, that’s what sold it, and the construction I’ve had verified by a third party to confirm that it’s well enough built, but the amount of stress and effort it’s taken to get this far, for something you’ve already paid for, is just unbelievable.Would I ever buy another house from Harron Homes. No.One in a number of very un-happy residents.

Honest review-

I have been moved into my new build home over a month now when I moved in I had an open man whole on the front and have been chasing this up with the developer due to near misses with people coming to visit me as it is on the road at the side of my drive, after explaining this to the builder countless times and even showing them yesterday they still have not even put a safety barrier or anything around it, yesterday my work colleague had to be towed out the whole creating damage to his care (I wish I could upload pictures it’s appalling) I also have mould that has not been sorted growing under my stairs that is apparently “normal” after speaking to neighbours it seems that stuff just doesn’t get sorted on the site and a lot of people are have the same if not worse issues. It is tiring I love the house but do not feel the customer service is at its best! When I brought the house I was meant to get updates throughout the process however very often it was me chasing these up the only time I got updates was when a nice lady was in the office she actually range me when she was on site but she was only there every now and then. When I moved in I had a Snager which is my right I was told by the developer that they wouldn’t except these reports and I had to do it myself however I feel this is to scare people into not getting one as even though the snager did put some petty things down he pointed out things we would not know like the boiler not being fire safe, cracked tiles on the roof, guttering not secure, outside stop tap compact with dirt etc. If there was nothing wrong with the house then there would be only minor things on the list so why not take the list it points out things that they have done wrong and need to rectify!!! The actual site workers like builders etc are lovely and I can not fault them but I do feel the work man ship for such an expensive house and what is meant to be a 5* developer is shoddy to be frank I understand things are not going to be perfect but some things just look like they have been done by a cowboy. Neil has been very good and did actually tell site to fix the man whole on the front and this had a temp fix but was never secured properly and now the ground has Collapsed around it and is no way secure. Neil also agreed with me on works to be done and was very professional. I do feel I have been deceived a little as when I moved in the fence was not secure on one side I thought this had been rectified when in actual fact they had just put a bit of wood on the other side to keep it up and now I’m back to my fence not being secure after they removed the wood so now Iv got to report this again. They have started to come to do some things but when some workers have come they have not always realised what needs doing and are unable to compete works also I had a gentleman say he was going to fix my guttering and clean it out he went on the back then left? So I don’t think this has been done the whole process has not been easy nor simple as it should be I feel I’m battling with the developer and it is honestly tiring I shouldn’t have to chase these thing someone should be ringing me giving me updates. I was also told that I should be able to have WIFI about 2 weeks after moving in I have had to chase this with open reach and they have been updating me every week and every time it’s the same they are waiting for the developer to complete these works even though these should of been done a month ago so who knows when I’ll be able to actually have WiFi in my new home. It seems whenever they do anything that you would just expect from them they want a review so I will be honestly reviewing the process now every week on here. I understand these issues may not be top on their priory list because they are still building but part of buying a new build is customer service and when you buy one of these homes very often you do it for Convenience so you can just move in not to be stressed and wishing you’d brought with someone else.

Foresters View- Crich:Wow, what can we say. We don't know what we love more...our new home or Ann Lawler, our sales executive! We dropped in and spoke to Ann where she let us look around the show homes and took us around the estate a few weeks ago. We loved the builds and knew we wanted to buy. Ann was not pushy at all and listened to our needs. Ann has a wonderful demeanor and a bubble personality in which she is captivating. She certainly knows her stuff, whether that be the different styles of houses and the names of every carpet, tile and kitchen design! Ann knows hers customers well and has an excellent rapport with them, which we gathered by speaking to a number of people on the estate, who could only say positive things about Ann and their experience. Ann is an excellent sales executive and also a credit to Harron Homes. She has gone above and beyond to meet our needs and we have felt extremely supported through the start of our buying process. Forest Reach :Don’t just take my word for it!!!!

This review is a balanced honest review based on our journey from start to finish with Harron homes. We went to the show home last March 2020 and viewed the show home and available plots. We decided on a plot to be finished on time with the help to buy changes. Were told our first plot wouldn’t be ready but our second choice would be. However Harron would never contact even though we paid a £250 deposit to secure our second plot choice. Heard nothing for 3 months and then was told they had sold our plot we had secured with a paid deposit ????? That’s just the start of the incompetence and horrendous journey. We secured another plot and the buying experience was rushed. We had 1 day to choose our choices felt rushed and was no personal customer service. Made our rushed choices and the property was being built. NoInvite to visit the property we ended up having to go in early a week before to see what the finished result was. Well ....... the back fence was smashed in and all over the garden completely damaged. The grass was poorly put down flooded and no flood protection was put in place. Imagine going to see your dream home and the fence is smashed all over your new garden. This was the best one Harron ( proven with photographs) lied and said a contractor had accidentally hit the fence with a digger. Couldn’t make it up. Entered the property the contractor had fitted in the living room windows sills and did further wood work on a fresh new laid carpet with no cover and left the wood shavings and mess on a brand newCarpet. Photographs to prove this. Why lay a new carpet and do work on that carpet without a cover unbelievable. The paint work shocking looked like a three year old has painted it and that’s a insult to a three year old horrendous. Harron agreed and got another painter in to apparently re paint the house. A 4 bedroom house re painted and glossed within 8 hours and one person on the job. Guess what looked worse than it did before shock horror on that one. We moved in with no choice and have had over 30 snags still not completed. Apparently it’s company policy that trades can’t enter due to COVID restrictions? Can you explain under what law or guidance under the Coronavirus Act prevents you from completing this ?? You won’t because it doesn’t exist. It’s a last minute made up policy to cover the fact they can’t be bothered to complete the work. As per another review our garden was flooded poorly laid no drainage and up to £1800 on re landscaping the garden with another £600 to pay to sort the mess Harron left. We all can’t be wrong the list of issues I could go on and on. Below is a flavour of what to expect from the award winning home makers.1. Front door still broken lock doesn’t work door doesn’t shut and hasn’t been fitted correctly 2. Poor paint work ( to suggest that we had a full repaint before we entered the property) all you did is attempt to rectify a problem that shouldn’t have been there so how is this a bonus as Chris is suggesting that we had a re paint. The re paint is of a poor standard and hardly better than before. The doorframes are peeling the living room door is peeling the glossing is of a poor standard the back door is a mess. If that’s your standard for painting then I suppose that’s your standard ? 3. Bath doesn’t retain water and broke 4. Kitchen cupboards damaged 5. The shower in the en suite is blocked ( and yes we took the picture with the plug out ) so Chris suggesting it’s a minor block it isn’t 6. Painting where the leak was hasn’t been re paintedWhen I challenged this with the assistant site manager Harron Promised he wouldn’t Email us again then he decided to email us against the wishes of his boss and sent a rude email saying he was glad he never had to contact us again. No apologies from Harron but to have an employee of Harron email you and say in a childish tone “ glad i have to never contact you again “ This is a customer who has spent over £250,000 not 10 quid on a jumper from Tesco My advice buy a older property use the government 95% scheme if you need to and avoid Harron Homes. Michelle was a huge part of the great…

Michelle was a huge part of the great service we received from start to finish through the Thoresby Vale development. Later in the handover we also had support from Meryll. The site have been fairly responsive to snags and Niall ensures he does his best to keep site clear and tidy whilst construction continues.

Harron Home - Foresters View, Crich

As a family we couldn’t fault Harron Homes and the experience we have received. We moved into our new build a couple of months ago and the whole process, since securing the house back in October has been faultless. We could not have asked for more out of Ann, our sales rep - she has gone above and beyond at every stage of the process even until recently supplying suggestions about slight issues we may have. (She even supplied our kids chocolate at Easter and is always on hand with an extra snack for our eldest whenever we pop by!). Both Paul and Wayne, our site managers have been easily approachable and have corrected any minor issue we have found thus far on the property. We were hesitant about purchasing at first due to the bad press you may have heard, but we know none of it. Very impressed, keep up the good work guys!

This is my fourth review with no response

This is my fourth review. Since my last review on 8th March, Ive chased weekly and despite being told that my major snagging items would be addressed, I’ve still not being given any update on when these works will be commencing. These were first reported on 5th September 2020 and have been chased weekly ever since. And before Harron respond asking for more info,l claiming they have no info, it’s plot 29 High banks.

I had a fantastic experience with Penny…

I had a fantastic experience with Penny at Harron Homes. Her knowledge of properties in Retford was impressive, and she provided thorough information about the houses provided us online information about houses we were looking to buy. Penny's expertise made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend her service and welcoming approach.
