My sister

My sister, who is deaf, recently had a very successful outcome of her compensation claim for injury at work. I have been helping her deal with communications between Thortons Solicitors, especially with Mr Richard Poole. We both very much agree that Mr. Poole was unfailing kind and patient with the process. Also he made the process so clear and straightforward that we at no time felt out of our depth with all that was involved with the case. At all times my sister was keep informed of how the claim was progressing and always with good clear advice about how to understand the process. We could not have asked for more professional but also personal care in this experience.

Professional service, maximum price achieved.

I used Thorntons for the marketing and sale of my property in Dundee. The whole process was simple and easy and communication channels were clear at all times. Scott Bremner and Louise Husband were fantastic and made the whole process seamless and competently carried out from start to completion. I achieved a phenomenal response when my property went on the market and achieved a fantastic sale price. The fees are slightly higher then smaller solicitors but if you want your property to receive maximum publicity and achieve the best coverage to potential buyers I would recommend going with them. Cannot fault the service that I have received.

Property portfolio sale

After using a small local estate agent for a property sale from our property portfolio which I felt was not handled well mainly due to the amount of time and effort I had to put in myself I decided to give a large firm the chance for my next transaction. From the start, the staff where very efficient with what could be done to ensure my legal transactions were done timely and with precision. The guest transaction was a complicated affair which consisted of 2 priority sales and a purchase abroad. Everything went to plan where we were kept up to date with the property sales from the estate agency side and the conveyancing was done promptly and efficiently. The staff were also very approachable and helpful. All I can say is you get what you pay for and we received outstanding first class service. Special thanks to Lindsay Mann from the property dept and Laura Whitwell our solicitor. We have since used Thorntons again and completed a sale on 9th August 2019 and have recommended a friend who is using Thorntons too. Many thanks

I have never felt so comfortable with…

I have never felt so comfortable with my claim as I have when I took it to Thornton’s. The staff went out of their way to help and kept me updated with every step of the process. They made sure I understood lots of different outcomes that my case may have and provided the support to help me throughout. I received email and handwritten confirmation of all my updates and if ever I wanted to discuss something with them, they were there to answer my questions whenever I needed it. Daniel has been a great support and dealt with my case in both a professional and supportive manner. He asked for my opinion on the claim and made sure to listen to everything I said. The outcome I received was more than I expected and I’m over the moon with the result. A big thank you to Thorntons solicitors for taking on my injury claim at work. I was very impressed with them and would give them ten out of ten on handling my case. A massive shout out to Richard Poole the solicitor assigned to me. Richard was great throughout, keeping regular contact with me, taking his time to explain certain matters. Richard was also very patient in explaining matters to me when I would contact him myself. If I left a voice mail he would contact me the same day. When my offer came threw I was so tempted to take it knowing the money was there but he advised me not to as he believed he could get me more and clearly knowing his craft he was correct. We asked Thorntons Law to represent our purchase of a cottage in Scotland and we were so pleased we made this choice. Gillian Stewart acted for us and in Gillian’s words it was ‘no bother’. To make our dream purchase we had to sell our home in Notttingham. Gillian explained the Scottish process for purchasing, a final offer for a property in Scotland cannot be agreed until the sale in England has reached ‘exchange of contracts’. From our prospective the purchase in Scotland handled by Gillian was easy. Unfortunately the sale of our property In England was not. Our English home was sold subject to contract on the day it was entered on the market, and what looked like a straightforward process dragged on and on. Throughout the process, which was at times stressful and frustrating, Gillian was an inspiration. It was so lovely to hear Gillian on the telephone lifting our spirits, reassuring us that all was well with regard to our purchase of our cottage. Gillian’s advice and support was faultless. After being hit by a car while crossing the road I was left with a severe ankle injury and Thornton’s made my life so much easier throughout the entire process of claiming compensation. I was always kept up to date with every step and was always advised how long certain parts of the process would take. Overall the claim took 10 months and ended with a fair offer.
