Contract completed 22nd December 2020.On time. (yes, with Christmas looming!) I could not have hoped for a better experience. Thornton's are a local company of many years, but I did wonder if a national brand might be a better choice. I can conclusively report that Lucy, my Conveyancing adviser was second-to-none!She provided impeccable service from start to finish. Everything that cropped-up, (as things often do) such as the reports from the buyer's solicitor; of "potential flooding fears, due to broken guttering after a weekend of heavy rain" ... Lucy immediately suggested the solution, quick and effective. That is just one example. She anticipated what was needed, by what dates, and even 'chased' me when necessary, always in a polite and friendly manner, to ensure the deadline I myself had requested, was achieved. I really appreciate that she kept everyone on track, and is a problem-solving getting-to-yes person - a very rare quality these days! It was absolutely priceless to know I was in her hands as she was very professional, whilst approachable, and totally competent. The best. A Gold-standard service that could not be bettered by anyone. I thoroughly recommend Thornton's Solicitors.And I will also add that Poppy of Thorntons Estate Agency in Arbroath is of the same high calibre, giving excellent advice, and solutions, super-efficient and friendly too - they are both of the same kind of rare, incredible staff that Thornton's can be immensely proud of.

Thorntons Solicitors are fantastic, but Gillian is the real star of the showWe initially started looking for a house in March 2020 just before lockdown and now since November, we have a house! Gillian has stuck by us and been helpful throughout the whole process. She is very friendly and was more than happy to help us with any queries we had, by email and by phone.I would definitely recommend Thorntons Solicitors, as you're treated with the utmost respect and I feel the service was very personal.

I introduced myself as a house buying client one morning and within an hour we had lodged a bid on a house, and three days later we had a deal agreed. Sandy Grant, my allotted partner was excellent. Calm and good humoured throughout, he was firm with the other side when required. He completed two sales and one purchase for us, all at fees which were reasonable. I would thoroughly recommend Sandy and Thorntons for any domestic conveyancing business.

I contacted Thornton law for help after I had a bad fall and wanted to claim the housing association for bad paving. Throughout the process of selling my home and buying a new one the team at Thorntons were clear on the process and costs and always available for queries.It really helped during those moments of uncertainty that there was always a friendly voice to provide reassurance, clear advice and total professionalism. Absolutely fantastic service throughout the whole process!As a first time buyer I felt intimidated by the confusing legal landscape of the housing market. Thankfully my solicitor Lisa was always there to answer my questions and give me all the guidance I needed. Even when there were issues with the closing date they were there to resolve them quickly, in a way that satisfied both parties. I really couldn't have asked for more.

Buying and selling a house during this time has not been easier, we put our house up for sale a few days before lockdown. The service we received from Thorntons from start to finish was 5*. All staff we dealt with were extremely supportive. During lockdown regular contact with Lynsey who was keeping us up to date in regards to prospective buyers kept us going. (Thank you Linsey Mann).Lucy from the estate agents side also helped to make the whole process of buying and selling a lot easier and less stressful. She went above and beyond to get our new home purchase through in such a speedy time. She responded quickly to any questions we had, (however big or small and there was a lot), she also kept us updated and reassured us along the way. (Thank you Lucy). On buying and selling our house we chose Thorntons as had used them previously and once again the service was exceptional. Laura Franceschi was our conveyancing assistant and her work was superb. During exceptional times for us all due to COVID she worked tirelessly to ensure the timely sale of our house. Then with the purchase the effort and attention to detail was very impressive and honestly don’t think we could have done it without her. Nothing was too much hassle and all correspondence was dealt with in a timely and professional manner. I would highly recommend Thorntons and honestly can’t thanks our conveyancing assistant Laura enough for everything she done for us. Great work.

Buying/selling houses is reputedly ranks as one of the three most stressful events people come across in their lives. To find help in the buying process whilst living in a different country is paramount if we want to be sane by the time we move in. Compounding the problem is having a combined 150 years under our belt, when even small issues become difficult to qualify and evaluate. Thus it was like winning the lottery when we appointed Thorntons to look after our interests in a house purchase in Crail. To be more precise, Zoe Stevenson, conveyancer at Thorntons was the key to all going not only speedily but also accurately.> To have managed my family and myself so well and with remarkable good humour is testament to not only her knowledge base (which is first class) but also her interpersonal skills.There were no problems in the house purchase, and the way it was completed was a model of efficiency and ability. Hi we bought and sold through Thornton’s...in Dundee, this isn’t our first time and am sure won’t be our last. The staff we dealt with were very professional and informative....nothing was too much bother. They were competitive with pricing etc and I personally feel that their layout for the schedule is one of the best. Excellent customer service. After a bad experience with another law firm/estate agent whilst trying to sell my property and purchase another we decided to try Thorntons based on their reputation to help us and they did not disappoint. Very professional attitude and the communication and advice was excellent, clear and concise. A special mention to Rachael Paterson who was superb to deal with and was most reassuring throughout the whole process which was a god send for as as we were nervous and stressed as we had already lost another property due to a negligent solicitor. Rachael made the whole process easy without any issues. For purchasing additional properties i would definitely be using Thorntons again and would recommend to all.

I recently used Thorntons to complete the legal side of selling my house. Laura Franceschi was my solicitor. She was super to work with, patiently explaining all the legal terminology and what was expected. She always replied to my questions either phoning or emailing super fast which was amazing considering her workload and a different working situation with Covid -19. I felt at all times she was efficient and organised. I can highly recommend her and Thorntons. They really care about their clients and give a super service. Thankyou Laura!

Excellent service from Thorntons during the recent difficult buying of our new home. It was a complicated sale as it was a guest house that we were buying as a home and it was a listed building, then throw Covid into the mix and difficult and impatient sellers, it was a very stressful experience for everyone involved. Lucy from Thorntons was the constant professional and coped very well with such a difficult situation. I can't stress enough how helpful Lucy was and although I never planning on moving again after this stressful experience, to no fault of Thorntons, if I ever did, I would use Thorntons again. I will also recommend them to friends and family.

I used Thorntons for a personal Injury claim for a road collision. They handled everything very professionally and offered lot's of extra services like physiotherapy and CBT, at no extra cost to me. Overall I think they did a great job (especially Carly Gardiner) and I'm very happy with the amount I received in the. I would Recommend this company to anyone.Their fees were a bit high at 25% + VAT but these were stated to me before proceeding with the claim, and you get what you pay for.Thank you
