Grant Hamilton was recommended to us…

Grant Hamilton was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. He looked after us very well and made the process of selling our house much easier, by keeping in touch and keeping us up to date with everything that was happening.We were very pleased and grateful when Grant offered to bring the contract to us for signing ( following covid guidelines ) saving a trip to his office when we were very busy packing.We are looking forward to dealing with him again soon when we find our new house.

Sandy Grant from Thorntons was excellent and I would recommend him and his expertise wholeheartedly. I was purchasing a home in a new area and unfamiliar with how the system worked. Sandy was extremely helpful, patient and professional. He listened to me and understood my priorities and concerns. He was extremely thorough with the searches and left no stone unturned. He dealt with things extremely promptly and was very clear. Sandy was also very kind and personable and this made the whole process much more pleasant and less stressful. Since July 2020, we have had two properties to sell and purchased one and we have used Lucy at Thorntons for each of these transactions. The service we have received from Lucy is second to none. Lucy has provided a first class service in every aspect in respect of all three properties. I cannot recommend Lucy highly enough and Lucy made the entire process seamless, despite moving being a very stressful time! Lucy is an asset to Thorntons.

My experience with Thornton’s Solicitors was excellent, I felt fully supported throughout my time with them. House sale - excellent service

Thorntons are the regional leaders in the field. They have the resources to offer a specialised service in most areas, which could be difficult to replicate in some of the smaller firms. As such, we have always and will continue to use them for legal services and have recommended them to friends. In particular, Katherine McGill was exemplary in the handling of our house sale. She kept us updated as to progress all the way through the transaction without us having to ask once, and although this sounds fairly innocuous, this is something that is so important to a client and doesn’t always necessarily happen. The fact that she was able to do this whilst juggling a raft of other transactions particularly under the current pressures speaks volumes as to her professionalism and frankly amazing organisational skills. We would not hesitate to recommend Katherine and Thorntons to others.

I used Thornton’s Solicitors to process the purchase of my property. Gillian Stewart was my appointed solicitor and she absolutely fantastic! Truly excellent

Gillian Leckie represented my partner and I in the remote buying of a house in Jan/Feb 2021, while we were living in Switzerland. Given the current travel restrictions, we had to complete the whole process remotely: a daunting prospect since we were first-time buyers, however Gillian was brilliant in supporting us throughout the process. Immediately after the initial phone call, Gillian noted our interest and sent us all the documentation about the house and the buying process in Scotland. After concluding the necessary checks, we quickly navigated the offer and missives together. The whole process took less than 1 month and on the 6th week we collected the keys to our new house. Sandy Grant is a truly superior solicitor. This is the second apartment purchase I have successfully concluded remotely from the USA. Buying a property is a stressful time but in a pandemic from another country it could have been difficult. It was not difficult at all. Margaret was our savior! Moving north of the border we were naive to the intricacies of buying a property in Scotland. I sold a house which I owned as an executor through Thorntons, Kirkcaldy. We encountered some unexpected problems, which were nobody's fault, but held up the sale. As the Kirkcaldy branch is not a large branch of Thorntons, they do not have a lettings department with easy access to tradesmen to fix things, but they did go the extra mile to appoint good tradesmen locally, important as I am not local to Kirkcaldy. At times they were slow to follow up some things, but were always good at explaining the situation. Showing was handled well, and I received good advice on which bid to accept.

We went through Thornton and the solicitor we had was Hannah Fraser, I can only say she was magnificent, she was there if I had any questions or queries. House completion from England to Scotland

We have recently completed on a house in Kirkcaldy, having moved from Kent. This was not as straightforward as we first thought, as the english and scottish system work slightly differently.We worked with Zoe and Susan Dunsire and they were very good. We were able to call them whenever we were unsure about anything. They even helped me to draft a letter to my solicitor in London (using the correct jargon!).I would recommend Thornton's to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy and reliable Solicitor firm.Also, their fees are very competitive for the service you receive.
