GoogleThis letting Agency steal students' money and they are good at it. My sister in-law had to leave the apartment before her contract ends. They made her pay the rest of the contract rent. When my in-law evacuated they immediately rented the apartment to someone else even though my in-law's contract was still effective. They were getting rent for 1 apartment from two different people at the same time. Jackson&Co. provides the worst maintenance service and it is hard to reach to them once you signed a contract. PLEASE, find another letting agency.

GoogleThis agency is the worst. They take your money, do everything they can to take the deposit money if you were not careful enough! They stop answering emails and requests unless you follow with them several times. We discovered after moving in to a property that we let that it has a broken sink and a broken shower door that prevents the usage of the shower (some of the faults that we discovered). The shower door was fixed after 8 months and the sink was not fixed and one of my family was injured because of it. Unfortunately, this agency dominates many properties in Colchester, so if you are a student, avoid them at all costs!

GoogleIf I could give no stars I would. Communication, reliability, professionalism (I could go on..) were completely non- existent from their side. Not only were there problems with reimbursing our security deposit, we weren't given necessary amenities e.g a microwave and had to purchase these ourselves. Googleavoid these people at all costs. They're rude, greedy and ignorant! If you have a problem you get ignored, I've had one of them shout down the phone at me because she was lying. I've had nothing but problems from start to finish from not supplying a gas safety certificate & being told it was out of date by the plumber. They've argued saying it was in date but I'm yet to receive a copy which I asked for twice now. My 2 young children and I were without heating and hot water for 4 weeks, informed them of an emergency gas leak outside the front of the property I got ignored. I was asked to end my tenancy early for new people to move in, when the new people dropped out I was then told they never said that and I have to pay the full month. I'm still waiting for my deposit, I had no inventory but took hundreds of pictures of the property and the out of date certificates and have had to get legal advice. Please please stay well away!

GoogleEven one star is much for this letting agency, there is no truth to their word. They are far from the truth in regards to the properties as well as services. They will take your money and wouldn't provide you any services in return. They take advantage of the students and provide no services, I have used Student Lets before , they really protect the rights of the students, and I will suggest you using them instead as a student.

GoogleWorst estate agent EVER! People at Jackson and Co are incompetent, slow, unreliable and rude. They manage all properties around the University and it does not matter the service they provide: you have no alternative if you want to be at 5 min walking distance from the University! If something breaks and it is not strictly indispensable, they will not fix it. If you call or write emails to ask to fix something, they will ignore you for as long as they can. They are seriously expensive (I was paying less in London with Foxton)! Finally, they tried to STEAL 50% of my deposit. I luckily had a long list of photos at the beginning and end of tenancy and I managed to win the dispute (luckily people at the Deposit Protection Service are honest), but if you are not prepared they will take your money!

GoogleAbsolutely useless. Couldn't organise a beer festival in a brewery! Power cuts left several tenants in the same building without power for two days. Then proceeded to use an unqualified electrician to fix the issue. Also don't know who provides the energy to their properties. Blame tenants for damage thy haven't caused and try to charge them for it. These people are totally incompetent, just a bunch of high school drop outs who have the education of a chimpanzee!

Having initially refused to take our house off the market, we changed our minds at Craig's request because he insisted our buyer had a substantial deposit and mortgage offer in principal "he is all good to go" is what he said. After 4 weeks when we began to question why there was no sign of progress, we were fed lie upon lie and told that everything is fine, not to worry. SEVEN WEEKS LATER, it turns out our buyer didn't have his own deposit or enough funds to even get a mortgage. What a joke, totally unprofessional, total waste of our time !!!

GoogleI know people who have had issues with Jackson and Co before, but with them managing most of the properties in the area of Colchester we wanted to live in, we had little choice. From reporting, it took 4 months for them to ask an engineer to come and fix the shower, despite it still being under warranty . We also were refused a replacement bed frame damaged by the previous tennants by the landlord, so when we bought a new one ourselves the old one sat in our hall way as we were told that we could neither dispose of it, nor have it stored. We stayed for our year tenancy agreements, all in all, a miserable experience, and the only reason they have one star is because it wouldn't let me give 0.

The Trusted AgentAwful staff and awful service
DO NOT USE THIS LETTING AGENT!!!!!!
Jackson and Co were okay at the start when I enquired about a property. I travelled 2 hours to view the property to get to Colchester and be told that they had just let it to someone else. They conveniently had another property to show us which was a higher price and pressured us to pay the fees in order to not let this one.
Once they received our money they completed changed. They did not return phone calls when promised, ignored texts and emails, and never passed messages onto the desired person. A vast majority of the time, the person who answered the call was the person I wanted to speak but they were pretending to be someone else and that the desired individual was out of the building or engaged otherwise.
We were left weeks at a time without having heard anything from them and no one returning our phone calls. We were due to move the first weekend of January but had not heard anything from them since the middle of December. We had to drive to Colchester 3 times in order to get something sorted, which was still unsuitable and the property we deemed to be dangerous.
Thankfully we got our money back and will never use this property agent ever again! We advise that you do the same.

GoogleAVOID Jackson & Co at all costs. I know of at least ten people that have been lied to or ripped off in some way. They are nice and friendly until you have put down your deposit but as soon as the contract is signed they will do whatever they can to shaft you. Don't trust the reviews either. 90% of the 5* reviews are people who actually work for them creating fake accounts.

GoogleAppalling estate agent. I'm gutted that I gave this corrupt company any of my money as they completely take advantage of students and will not stop at anything to keep your deposit! They lied to DPS for 4 months to keep our deposit but as they didn't have any evidence we finally got our money back. Please do not risk your money with this estate agents and if you are fighting for your deposit, go straight to DPS.
