They also helped us find a good solicitor and removal company. We also purchased another property through Jacksons and they were always available to help throughout the whole process. Would recommend them to anyone that is looking to sell or buy.

I went with Jackson & Co after having limited success with another agent. I was impressed by their efficiency and communication throughout the process - they kept me in the loop the entire time, and I never had to chase them (in fact, they often had to chase me). Within a few days I was receiving and got an offer quickly. They're very knowledgeable and I really valued their advice and expertise. All the staff I dealt with were very friendly and helped make what could have been a very stressful experience much better. Thanks a lot!

GoogleWARNING TO STUDENTS Back in July 2019, we took our complaint about Jackson & Co's unprofessional practices to The Property Ombudsman who found in our favour, resulting in the return of our deposit in full plus a small amount of compensation. To cut a long story extremely short, two university students paid a deposit and fees to secure a rental property. Three months later they discovered that Jackson & Co had surreptitiously swapped the property that had been agreed upon for another property within the same block - one that they had neither expressed interest in nor ever viewed. Apparently, within the lettings trade this practice is known as ‘bait and switch’. When by pure chance the ruse was discovered, they were told that the original property was no longer available because the landlord had withdrawn it due to his son having recently separated from his wife and needing somewhere to live. This was a LIE. The happily married son of the landlord at that time lives and works many miles away in the north of the country. The complaints procedure to get the holding deposit and fees returned took seven months from start to finish, was time consuming, stressful and certainly not something we would like to experience again. Although The Property Ombudsman handled the case courteously, the process is slow and arduous and in a best case scenario such as ours, results in the agent returning money that was never rightfully theirs in the first place. Probably wise not to put yourself in that potential situation. There are other property agents in Colchester. Avoid this one.

GoogleSTUDENTS AVOID - After viewing a property and paying the holding deposit (plus fees) on the same day, we were excited at the prospect of moving into our new flat. However, it wasn’t until 3 months later when the referencing was finally underway that we noticed the property number had been changed on our application from No.70 to No.58. It was only then we were then told that the property we signed and paid for was no longer available due to circumstances with the landlord (which now appear to have been a lie). We believe that if we had never flagged this up at this early stage in the process that we would have ended up receiving the keys on our moving in day for a property which we had never viewed. This bad experience with Jackson & Co prompted us to search online for similar cases and we are now aware that we were subject to a tactic used by some lettings agents commonly known as a ‘Bait and Switch’. After a long dispute process through The Property Ombudsman and about 11 months after our initial viewing, Jackson & Co returned our full deposit and fees plus compensation for the inconvenience they caused. If you want to avoid many months of poor service and being left in the dark about the property you have paid for then I would suggest looking at literally any other lettings agent in Colchester that wont take advantage of students and other potential buyers.

GoogleI am very disappointed with the agents( 2 agents) promises that they will get back to us with more details after we have already viewed the property to rent. I rang few times to be updated if we can rent the ptoperty and was told they will get back to us but they didn't and just now after I rang them, I learned that the property has been rented. So we waited and enquired for 3 weeks and nobody bothered to ever ring us back or answer any queries. Just waisted our time and got disappointed at the end of it as we really wanted to rent that house.

Very unprofessional agents and service. It took almost a month to move into an apartment that was promised to be ready long time ago. If something is broken , They say that it doesn't fall under top priority, so basically prepare to wait for a long time to get stuff fixed. Overall poor customer service.

It is certainly our aim at Jackson and Co to move you in as swiftly as possible and as I am not furnished with your address, unfortunately I do not know the circumstances for this delay. I can only assure you that there must have been certain circumstances which lead to this decision.
I would also like to apologise for your wait in having something repaired. Certainly, during the month of October, our maintenance team were required to prioritise repairs such as water leaks, security and gas issues. There was an unprecedented amount of repairs during this month and I apologise if the wait was inconvenient. I do hope that this was explained politely and professionally to you as we have not received complaints regarding repairs and I am again sorry that you feel you have not received an adequate service. Had an absolutely appalling experience with Jackson and Co, after paying a six hundred pound deposit, my girlfriend was told that because her guarantors weren't good enough, she would be losing the apartment she had tried to rent and the property would go back on the market, this was done via email a minute before closing so no queries could be made, leaving her in a huge panic.
When we tried to call the man (Kieran), he was never in the office and we were essentially told to go away, it was only when my girlfriends room mates mother called up and mentioned the Ombidsman that they back pedalled and told her she could continue with the rental, if they're that willing to to go back on their decision then obviously something is suspicious, especially since all of a sudden the guarantors she chose were fine.
Rude and incompetent staff, absolute criminals, avoid at all costs.

Their communication is one of the poorest examples I've ever experienced from any letting agency...once they have your money they disappear off the map like some of the world's best scam artists! They do not care at all for students renting and have some of the rudest, incapable staff I've ever had the pleasure of being in contact with. They don't know what is going on with half of their buildings the majority of the time and struggle to even understand the simplest of queries. I'm amazed that this company has any reviews above 1 star, perhaps those people had the miracle of actually having a response to any emails or phone calls from Jackson and Co.

GoogleI am a student and i have no problems with jackson & Co. When i paid my holding fee i was given paperwork to sign confirming me and my guarantor didnt have bad credit and had to confirm earnings etc. If it turned out i was lying then i agreed to loosing my money. The whole office was really helpful and answered all my questions. Im guessing all the bad reviews are from people who have lied when applying for the flat so lost their holding fees? My experience has been brilliant and if your honest with them then theres no issues.

GoogleREAD this please! AVOID avoid! They accused us to have rent arrears (after 3 years renting the same house!!) and when I confronted them they told me it was a mistake as they wanted to change the money on the deposit scheme to other deposit scheme and they had to use a ''rent arrears motive'' to get that. I had to send bank statements to proof that was a lie but all of this DAMAGED my health while the situation was going!! They never apologised! I still have the emails!! As soon as I could I moved home to get rid of this company Jackson & CO.
