I have just recently located from Ghana(West Africa) and was looking to rent a property. I chanced upon Harris and Wood on zoopla and rung the letting agency. As a first timer renting in England, I was skeptical of what to expect. I booked for a review of one of their properties and a pleasant and well mannered lady by name Megan spoke with me after which she met with me at the property.She listened attentively to me, I expressed my fears and worries as a first timer to her. She allayed all my fears and apprehension, took her time and walked me through the lettings industry and what to expect. Her professionalism, in depth knowledge of the industry and superior customer experience were top notch. The whole process was so seamless with Megan at the helm of affairs. Megan you did an amazing job and I doff my hat off to you. For this singular reason Harris and Wood is highly recommended especially first timers and anyone looking to buy or rent a property. Thank you Megan. You are indeed a valuable asset to your team.

Agent Harj was full of fake promises

Agent Harj was full of fake promises. Although he was all smiles and seemed friendly, the minute we left after our viewing he didn’t return texts or calls and shyed away from any contact. After several calls to the agents I finally managed to find out myself that the property had been given to someone else, rather than them calling me to inform me I had to dig this information out of them which was frustrating. Avoid!

Refused due to having children, unlawful discrimination

Contacted this agency regarding a view of 3-bedroom house. The advertisement contained no restrictions regarding families with children. During the phone call, the first question asked was whether we have children. Once this was confirmed, we were immediately refused solely on that basis. I asked several times why this restriction was not stated in the advertisement, but I received no explanation or answer. Refusing access to rented accommodation because a family has children constitutes unlawful discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. Letting agents are legally required to comply with this legislation, regardless of landlord preference. This experience raises serious concerns about the agency’s compliance with UK equality law. I am sharing this publicly so other families are aware.

The team at Harris and Wood (both lettings and sales) have been great throughout my entire journey with them. Each part of the lettings and sales process has a different person allocated to it, and everyone was professional, informative and accessible at each stage. Marcus was responsible for supporting the progress of the sale and he really was fab - a real asset to the team. The same can be said for Conner’s letting team. I would not hesitate to recommend Harris and Wood and would certainly use them again.

Bad communication

I have been trying to contact them for 4 months in regards to my flat and contract but they are absolutely appalling at responses and making things clear and helpful for those they are letting to. They have sent me in so many different directions on who to contact and have stopped responding to me within one week of me first contacting them. On top of this it took them weeks to respond and report to maintenance issues, and when they did the response I got was rude and abrupt. As well as that they issues weren't resolved fully resulting in me feeling uneasy in what was meant to be my own space. Absolutely awful service and wouldn't even consider letting/renting from them again.

Pathetic estate agency! The guy who is showing properties mixing up addresses and you end up viewing a different one. If you make an offer they show a very keen interest in person then no-one ever comes back to you. The property owners will never get to find out who made offers and they may just losing out on perfectly good tenants…!They do not even talk to each other within the office to relay interest.You get a bunch of promise, but that is all!Laura is useless!

So we started our Harris & Wood journey less sthan 2 weeks ago and I can only express how brilliant the Team have been; so efficient, capable and knowledgeable. Elliot has listened to our situation perfectly and simply understands our needs to find the right forever home now that the team have sold our home in just two days 🙂 He has been patient from the outset, understanding that we haven’t sold a property for over 20 years. He has taken time to explain each part of the process and we feel we are in safe hands. Professional Photographer James is such a capable chap with a clear eye for showcasing homes. His photos definitely helped sell the house, he took his time to ensure the best views were taken and showed us each rooms pictures and what he had captured. He even took two beautiful photographs of our two elderly dogs! How lovely is that. A young, fresh, professional team who know their stuff. I would highly recommend them x

Very unprofessional and rude agents. They repeatedly called me while I was at work, and when I finally got back to them, they booked a viewing for the next day and told me to meet outside the property at the scheduled time. When I arrived and called their office, they initially lied, saying they would sort it out and call me back. After waiting 20 minutes with no update, I called again, only for them to blame me for going without having received an email confirmation, instead of acknowledging that their agent cancelled the appointment without notifying me. Overall, very unprofessional.

They accommodated me seeing several houses in one day, as well as advising me on other options before they had been put online. In addition, the customer relations manager Marcus Jarman has been such an asset to the company whilst handling the sale. Appalling group of folks! This group has no idea what they are doing. we worked with Selina and she was absolutely clueless and brought wrong/unverified information to the table. I just exchanged on my house with Harris and Wood. From start to finish, they have all been beyond helpful. Exceptional marketing, photography, communication - you name it. However, I can't write this review without commending Marcus Jarman who personally handled practically everything in terms of getting my sale over the line. As a big worrier, he consistently reassured me, kept me in the loop about absolutely everything and was just an absolute pleasure to be in communication with throughout. Buying and selling a house is a stressful process, but Marcus made all of the difference. I'd absolutely use his and Harris + Wood's services again.
