TrustpilotDon't bother if you are a first time buyer
I am a first time buyer , I have been saving for so long to get a property with the Help to Buy scheme. While Bovis homes advertise the properties for first time buyers , they put their properties on the market way before any Help to Buy buyer can ever apply to use the scheme (help to buy only allows you to apply 6 months before the legal completion date). That is if you are a first time buyer you need to wait until all the good properties are gone to people who can afford a 15% deposit then you will be lucky if a left over property is avialbe. Clear discrimination against help to buy buyers. It is sad and disappointing that I spent all of that time hoping to buy a flat and of no fault of mine I will not be able to just because I am not rich enough to compete with people with upfront payment. Bovis please stop pretending to support first time buyers , your treatment of them is disgraceful.

We purchased our home with Bovis 4 months ago, in Overstone at The Atrium, and had the opportunity to see the house throughout the entire construction process. We could visit whenever needed to check details and progress, and we were always accommodated professionally.

TrustpilotAnother bad review...
Just to add yet another poor score to what would seem a joke of a company, I feel the need to add our experience to save others. Two weeks ago we moved in to our new Bovis home & everyday we have had contractors in to fix a ‘problem’. Water coming through spot lights in kitchen from bathroom, leaking toilets, leaking boiler, issues with appliances, issues with hot water which has been discovered as faulty pipe work where a Plumber had installed the wrong type of pipes into the wrong connections of the boiler so hot was in the cold & visa versa. Honestly the list would take me a day to write. So, with all the comings & goings which has completely ruined our experience of moving in, let a lone put me at risk due to being shielded because of COVID 19. I finally broke down today in tears & let the arrogant man who calls himself an Area Build Manager get the better of me.Id like to say that everyone excluding him, has been polite, courteous, apologetic & understanding. The Site Manager has been incredibly helpful & is a credit to Bovis as are some of the contractors we have met. However the Area Build Manager would do a lot to learn some basic customer service skills, empathy being one. Not just fob us off with attitude behind it. He believes Bovis is on the up & the ‘bad’ reviews are history. Clearly he is either in denial or oblivious, maybe both! Majority of the residents on our estate have had issues & most still on going. Sadly for us we were naive to the whole new build process & our dream has become a nightmare. I feel worried about what other issues are yet to arise & have no trust or faith in that we have had them all.To be fobbed off & told its because the house hasn't been lived in yet is a cop out. The issues are not cracked walls or a switch that doesn't work, these are issues due to poor build work which were here from the start! We will NEVER buy from Bovis again or recommend them & will do major research into a developer before deciding if we could ever buy from new again. Clearly Bovis’s priority is not customer retention, its more of a one in one out kind of policy which in this climate cannot be sustainable. My advice to anyone buying Bovis is to throughly test & check everything before you move in. Visit as often as you can. Check water related items, fill the bath, check the showers & toilets all work without faults or leaks. Check lighting, doors open, windows open etc etc.Or just don't buy Bovis & go with a more reputable company who respects their customers who are spending a small fortune on their houses! We still have ongoing issues & when I look around what should have been our perfect home I see nothing but a nightmare.

Trustpilotclose them for good
This is an organisation we would all (except the fat cat Directors) benefit from closing for good. Their Regional Build Director in our area is one of the most arrogant people I have ever met - and the quality of workmanship is poor under his remit. Pooling driveways built on way too much sand, bendy gutters, awful design, scratched windows, poor build supervision, wrong heating valves, airbricks at wrong height, a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ attitude to service - and that is just what you can see. Even more scary is what is hidden behind walls, refusal to share specifications and the huge use of uncontrolled sub-contractors. I have bought 5 new houses over the years and the most issues have certainly been had with a Bovis home, 3 times the price of any other. Trouble is, people still buy from them even though they admit they are awful.

Bovis homes customer care let’s you down. They say there are there to support and appreciate your frustrations on getting snagging completed but not sure what three support is, no follow up calls, reply to emails, respond to text, call. Director of building contact me any problems well I’ve contacted 3 times and no response! No it’s site Portal is introduced so you can input problems and monitor outcome and site and customer care can see but things get signed off as complete when they’ve never even attempted to do soAnother good one is, ‘will get back to you ‘ Well never say which day/month be even year soon Also to add to my poor experience - I have a contractor overstepping the Mark ! Yet I do not receive any form of an apology Is that how Bovis do business Bovis need to look after there customers to ensure things are finished to customer satisfaction Appreciate there job is building houses but What about the buyers whom are on there homes how do you get things done I’m rather disappointed and disillusioned also

TrustpilotOn balance...not bad...but Bovis have a lot to answer for
So many negative reviews for a reason. Bovis Homes’ customer service, in my experience, is shocking. I bought a Bovis Home 2 years ago and am now out of my 2 year period where I can raise issues with Bovis. We are on the Estate in Selby, North Yorkshire.Overall, on balance, we are very happy with our home. We love it in fact. We would buy again...and we would buy from Bovis. I can’t speak for others, but our home appears to have been built well. When we moved in we got it independently snagged. There were hundreds of issues but my research prepared me for this. It’s not like a car made in a factory by robots and people using specific approaches. It’s a house built by many many people, some of which have good days and some who couldn’t give a monkeys! When you get a new build you have to be mentally prepared to deal with the service. There are pockets of good service. Directors at Bovis say the right things but rarely do the right thing...or if they do, it’s after many MANY months of chasing. It’s enough to boil your blood. But...and it’s a big BUT...if you take it in your stride, don’t give up and just get on with it, you can come out with a great home. Over the two years we had a couple of serious issues but they were sorted...after getting very serious with them and not taking no for an answer. You need to research your rights and do not be timid in shouting about them. We’ve had everything sorted and out house is still standing. And again we love our home. Our estate still needs finishing off. Bovis have packed up and gone but left the roads unfinished. The children’s park is an afterthought and not finished. I feel bad for the people who have to look at it every day. Bovis have a LONG way to go. However, I’ve rated them fairly. Yes there are some absolute muppets in top jobs but on the whole we have a great home. It’s a sorry state that we have to even put up with things like this. But that’s the state of new builds in Britain. I’ve friends who went to other house builders and suffered the same if not worse.

TrustpilotDecember is Bovis year end based on previous years the house will be rushed and of poor quality.
December is Bovis year end, this is when bovis complete most of their houses to achieve the numbers and profit for the stock exchange and share holders, more so than at any other time Bovis quality has in the past year's dropped in this period , as their only interest is getting the house to a point where it can be handed over what ever the issue that is left, this situation has been acknowledged by Bovis previously, which is easy to admit, but has ultimately left thousands of purchasers with years of upset and torment. I would advise that nobody accepts a house purchase at year end, it will be rushed and of poor quality based on all previous years, the sites will be muddy and with out street lighting, and of poor quality not the best result when you have committed your life to pay off the purchase. With the slow down of the housing market and the current uncertainty of the housing market, if you do not have to purchase now it may prove prudent to consider what may happen to house prices, from 2007 to 2009 the last down turn in the housing market, Bovis discounted their house prices by 45 percent, as a result individuals that had spent 400k on a house found their neighbours had paid a little over 200k for the same house less than 2 years later. The reviews that individuals have posted are correct and possibly some what reserved and indicate a small snap shot of the problems that trusting purchasers have been left by Bovis, Bovis will push hard for completions and promise that all aspects of the house will be completed in their entirety, which is not correct as purchasers have found to their detriment and once the house purchase has completed and Bovis staff have received their bonuses, bovis staff immediately go quiet when you raise any issues. For trusting year end purchasers you will find that your completion dates moved forwards to grab the money as soon as possible, therefore reducing the build quality as the house will be rushed, purchasers please be aware.

TrustpilotMisleading Communication and Poor Customer Service - A Disappointing Experience
I recently attempted to purchase a property with Bovis Homes On the Greenwell Park development in Garforth, Leeds and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.Initially, we found a plot we really liked and were told part-exchange was an option, only to later be informed that it wasn't available due to our proximity to a railway station. The sales representative refused to tell me this over the phone and insisted on an in-person meeting, despite knowing I was working 70 miles away at the time. Communication was nearly non-existent outside of her Thursday to Saturday shifts, and none of the regional offices would answer their phones.Determined to move forward, we immediately put our house on the market and managed to sell it within 6 days, above the asking price. Despite proving our affordability multiple times, and after being repeatedly assured by Bovis that the property was ours, we were blindsided. Following the "Meet the Builder" meeting (where the builder couldn't answer any of my questions), we were told to pay the £1,000 reservation fee. However, when we logged into the portal, it was completely empty. After several unanswered emails and phone calls, we discovered that, on the very day we met with the builder, Bovis had quietly decided to place the house into their share portfolio, making it unavailable for sale.Bovis did offer us a different property of the same build, but the alternative plot was far less desirable. In the end, it felt like we dodged a bullet. While I understand that things can change, the complete lack of transparency, poor communication, and misleading assurances made this process unnecessarily stressful. For anyone considering buying from Bovis Homes, I urge you to thoroughly read reviews and be cautious. Our experience has left us with a deep sense of frustration and disappointment.

TrustpilotFixed deductions from deposits that go against the Code they signed-up to.
I retreated from a purchase and Bovis are taking a fixed percentage from the deposit against the Consumer Code that they signed up to. The fixed deduction amount is 50% (£250 from a £500 deposit)The code that they signed-up to the Consumer Code for Home Builders that states: Deducting a fixed percentage or fixed amounts from the reservation fee is not acceptable; the developer should return the reservation fee less any reasonable costs that have been genuinely incurred in processing/holding the reservation. Effectively, the builder will need to be able to demonstrate that the costs are reasonable should the matter be referred to the independent dispute resolution service that is available under the Code.and yet Bovis says: “Bovis Homes strives to provide great customer service to its customers and deliver them a high quality home. We are proud of the homes we build and our high customer satisfaction results reflect this. The Consumer Code is a key part in providing our customers with a reassuring service as they buy from Bovis Homes and begin to live in their new home. We are a strong supporter of the Consumer Code and believe that it has been a significant contributor to the improving standards across the house building industry.” David Ritchie Chief Executive, Bovis Homes Group PLCAVOID

TrustpilotI have been living in a Bovis built…
I have been living in a Bovis built home that is about 4 years old. Instead of advertising as a "luxury" home it should have been marketed as "bare bone minimum required by law."I can think of about 5 things that are simply broken. Light, fixtures, appliances, ventilation, flooring, kitchen cabinet doors, toilet installed too close to heated towel rack. Other things are just the cheapest quality. Worst quality kitchen and tile...by that I mean cheapest. Kitchen cabinet doors are not soft close....I mean even Ikea does that. Cabinet doors are starting to delaminate near the bottoms for no reason. Counter top is cheap laminate. No Doorbell or porch light!!! Is this a self-build? A tiny patio, that will barely fit one outdoor recliner. I mean come...I few pavers are not that expensive. No electric garage door opener.Tile is the absolute cheapest. They just cut corners wherever possible and take advantage of new buyers. HIRE SOMEONE TO DO YOUR SNAGGING for you close on the home.

TrustpilotAbsolutely terrible company
Absolutely terrible company, purchased my property December 2016 and still have many issues, not forgetting my living room was flooded from the ensuite, 16 window panes replaced due to all damaged, over 2 years to have a garden and official boundary. Walls linked to ceilings due to tape not plasterboard, 2 garage doors, replaced with arguments the cooker, hob, fridge and freezer due to the screws being rounded off paint missing and all joints rusting. No soundproofing in internal walls which had to have all walls cut out to install. Big gaps in almost every room over the thickness of a £1 coin. Not forgetting the amount of time with phonecalls, emails and I would not like to know how many appointments was not attended. Greg Fitzgerald is an absolute waste, I now have my local MP fighting my corner along with an independent home snag company 😡

TrustpilotNever again!
One star represents the Bovis experience most accurately for us. We are now 2 years and 5 months in and our list of snags have barely been addresses. A weekly call to the customer care department has only caused frustration with very little response in terms of actually getting any workmen round. We have always been polite in all communication, as we would expect back, but even this gets us nowhere. Internal sound insulation a major issue. Bouncing floors with everything rattling as we walk across rooms. Broken tiles on walls and floors of bathroom and en-suite. Badly fitted patio doors. Surely we should have been advised by our solicitor to withhold some money until everything has been completed? Well actually no as Bovis insist we use their recommended Solicitor!!! Never never again!

We've purchased via bovis in Kidderminster, now I can only talk for myself and we're really pleased with our purchase, I've had a snagger in and they found 6 trivial mistakes, bovis foreman has put 2 of them right, that's just asking and before I put my 2 week snagging list in, they have taken my rubbish away and been really helpful, I can see all these poor reviews but in my experience bovis have been spot on , Rhys and Bob the forepeople on site have gone above and beyond and the sales girls Leslie, Yvonne and Carol superb, you always have problems with a new build but in my experience these people I've mentioned have been great

TrustpilotSo far so good with Bovis
3 months into our new home in Aston Brook and I am pleased to say that so far our experience with Bovis has been very positive.I was apprehensive about buying from Bovis after discovering all of the upsetting issues other buyers have experienced, but we were reassured by the sales team - Kelly, Denise and Laura and Graham (who were all wonderful and on hand to answer my many, many questions!) - that the site team are pulling out all the stops to make sure the development is to a high standard. The house was ready for when we requested it. There was an issue with the cleaning company and they didn't carry out work to standard for us getting the keys, but we were reassured that once we had finished moving in and completed laying our flooring, then the house would be given another deep clean to make up for being let down initially. I was happy with that as we made a bit of a mess, so what seemed disappointing initially, actually worked out very well.We hired a professional snagger to assess the property. I think he identified no more than 150, mainly minor, snags (which he said was average). He also commented that all in all it is a well built house and one of the better ones he has seen, which we obviously took a lot of comfort in.Neil, the assistant site manager, has been brilliant at sorting out all of the snags. He checked in with us frequently and all snags were completed before Christmas with minimal disruption.I really can't complain about our experience with Bovis. We have now been passed over to onsite customer care, so time will tell if we continue to receive a high standard of service should a problem arise. We love our new home, so thanks to all the team who have made our experience in buying our first home a happy and positive one.

TrustpilotAnother honest and truthful BAD review
We agree with every bad review on here. Bovis are not loyal to their customers but are disrespectful and solely look after their rich investors and CEO. We have been at the Moreteyne site for two years. For two winters the front of the house internally has been around 5 degrees Celsius and we had to bath our 7 month old baby in her bedroom at the back of the house due to the house bathroom being so cold. Bovis have washed their hands of the insulation issue even though thermal imaging shows clear cold spots due to the insufficient gaps in the insulation. Customer service is terrible, the manager and CEO are spineless the whole company requires a Government investigation by a select committee. Why is it fair to pay for a house not fit for purpose and company not fit to build Lego. By the way three major water leaks two of which we had to live in without flooring and plastering and painting work being done as Bovis refused to pay for alternative accommodation.

TrustpilotAvoid at all costs. Could be the worst decision of your life.
My Bovis Home is full of a shocking number of defects and building regulation fails. These affect every corner of the building. There is something culturally rotten about a company that repeatedly builds in this careless, low quality way. The business model is minimal QA and leave the customer to fight to rectify faults. I have the common Bovis faults: creaking and cracking floors, poor brickwork, cold and draughty, no sound insulation, water logged garden, leaking guttering - literally tens of faults. The NHBC guarantee is also worthless as they've somehow got out of rectifying every fault I've told them about. They have just a 2 star rating from the HBF survey which is the lowest of any housebuilder. Read the reviews on here and look at the many media reports. A home is an important thing in your life and your biggest investment. Do not risk this by buying a Bovis Home.

TrustpilotWe all know that Bovis Homes
We all know that Bovis Homes, along with other new build developers, are driven by a culture of deceit and lies, question is what are we armchair warriors going to do about it ? There were advanced plans for a big demo at Bovis HQ in Kent in 2016, but that action was pulled by the powers of Bovis Homes Victims Group who then declared that Bovis were the good guys who could be trusted to put things right.Yet I reconize names from that group who are posting on this site and are now telling us the truth about Bovis. Strange goings on !Back to what we are going to do about the situation we still find ourselves in despite all of our efforts to reason with both Bovis and the regulators.Truth is you can't reason with entrenched bad culture, that culture will only change when the shareholders feel the pinch in their pockets. How about all the new build sufferers getting together, Bovis Homes Victims Group members welcome, and demonstrate at Bovis HQ at shareholders meeting in the spring of 2018 ?
