TrustpilotBairstow Eves? More like B*stard Thieves.
Bairstow Eves, Peterborough, were in charge of selling my house. We got an offer within the first week.Today, an entire year later, the sale still has not completed. The first buyer, despite claims by the manager that all was progressing fine, six months later still had not got a solid mortgage offer. By then, we had amassed a debt of council tax together with zero income for half a year. We instructed them to take a second offer from another buyer. But again, now, six months after that, we're getting letters from Peterborough Council alarmed that a property has sat empty for a year! We owe over a grand in council tax and again, no rental income for an entire year now. Yet we have assurances "by the end of the week" "by the end of the month" "by the end of the year". They've ignored countless emails. Staff have left who were dealing with it and no one took over. And now there's a new manager, still nothing has changed. When we suggested that once this is over, a reduction in their fees would be more than reasonable. They flatly refused. We're now considering an application to a small claims court. They're liars. They're cheats. If you are ever in need of selling a house, you would be doing yourself a massive disservice by using 'B*stard Thieves' estate agents. Steer. Well. Clear.

TrustpilotBairstow Eves Maidstone
Used the team in Maidstone to market my house. They were professional and dealt with every query. They arranged for photos to be taken and a house plan to be drawn up at no charge. The whole sales team visited the property before it went on the market so they could all provide the best and most accurate information to potential buyers. They secured several good offers over the course of 5 weeks but a change in our circumstances meant we didn't proceed. They understood the issues and my reasons for not selling and wished me and my family all the best. I will go back to them when we are ready to sell.

TrustpilotUSELESS SALES TEAM! So rude!
I enquired about seeing a house, and was met with utter incompetence by Abigail Coombs, the sales assistant, and her equally as useless male manager - who’s name I can’t remember. When I called to ask to view a house, I was put onto her manager, despite saying I didn’t need to speak to her manager, because it was out of my ideal spend. Just because I don’t want to spend over X amount, it doesn’t mean I can’t. However, I understand perhaps they didn’t want their time wasted. I then had to have this same conversation with her manager, some absolute shmuck, who asked me very pointed questions, his tone was appalling, to “check” I was eligible. Ie: Despite saying I have my AIP, I was asked how much deposit I’m putting down - why does that matter? Anyway, I was then promised a call back from Abigail and a house viewing confirmation, as soon as she was off the phone. Well, it’s been a 24hr phone call, and despite emailing last night, no one has come back to me. When someone I know, called her last night, she asked them to “make it quick” because she had to go home. What kind of agency is this?! They’re a JOKE.

TrustpilotCoventry office communication is…
Coventry office communication is really bad and feels like they are also discriminating. First time when I call they informed that they are yet to listen back from the tenants and took my details to give me a call back. I called them back after couple of days because I did not get the call back, they say all the viewings are booked. Not the first time.

TrustpilotDisgusting Customer Service
Disgusting Customer Service! Left without heating for 18 days, and no hot water for 3 - we had to raise a complaint to actually get any help and we were told 'this was handled in a well timed manner'. Four days in a row we were stood up by the engineer after being told they would turn up. 3/4 of the month without the basic necessities and not a single sincere apology. No one is taking responsibility for the terrible service.

TrustpilotDisgusted - no heat or hot water for 3 wks!
Disgusted how they can brush off my daughter, who has been a perfect tenant of them for years and tell her waiting 3 weeks for hot-water during a UK winter, that her issue was dealt with in a timely manner! is just atrocious. Every tenant has a right to hot water and be at a minimum apologised to if it is not supplied. After reading and see the appalling score they have on here I cannot say I am surprised. My daughter who is a shy, polite hard worker, wrote a email of complaint but rather than responding and addressing her issues, and looking into why it took so long to address them, apologise for how uncomfortable and distressing it was for her to be freezing in her home while not being able to even bathe in her own home, to me in unbelievable. I can see they haven't even bothered to respond to anyone's issues on this site either which just confirms that customer service is not any priority for them.I have advised her to contact their ombudsman 'The property Ombudsman' (TPO) which you can google and will help her to do so. But I suggest all the other reviewers who have had issues do they same so the company have to be accountable for not providing the services they are paid for.

TrustpilotCompletely incompetent, and have repeatedly mislead us about the state of the purchase, particularly want to highlight Samantha Cavalier & Adam Carman as staff to avoid (Barking branch)
Simply put some of the least competent negotiators and project managers I’ve ever encounteredIf you see either the Barking branch in general or Samantha or Adam I would run a mile from any purchase, as my time with them has been a horrific mistake. The summary is effectively at every point in the process they made a substantial mistake that could easily have scuppered the sale. I’d also say the biggest commonality is a habit of telling people what they think they want to hear, without particular concern about whether this is true, to the point where it does feel to me like they achieved a sale through deception. The actual viewing wasn’t anything particularly special/largely just provided access to the property. The good is they do respond to phone calls, and have generally chased people up when we’ve we asked them toBut that is where the good ends....The first issue was a substantial delay in issuing the memorandum of sale, seemingly as they were having issues using their own IT system (which then delayed properly instructing conveyancers etc), they made some quite odd excuses during this period e.g. claiming memorandum of sale usually wouldn’t be issued until after surveys have been done (which anyone who has purchased a house knows is not the case). When we did get the memorandum of sale there was a significant error on the actual document stating it was a leasehold when it was freehold which caused quite a lot of confusion and concern. The other really concerning thing was a constantly changing message about the state of their client. I’d already sold my flat and am staying with family, I work for a charity (youth work) which was just starting to reopen its London headquarters post Covid restrictions and I desperately needed to move back into London as quickly as possible, which they were aware of. When I first viewed the property they made it really clear the vendor’s were moving in with family, so there was no chain, then a few weeks the story changed to they were actually buying a vacant property but ahead of us. Then when days away from exchange, they moved the completion date back a month. Horrifically bad behaviour especially given all the trouble that the agent had caused already, particularly how the attempt to do this was handled by Samantha (Cavalier by name cavalier by nature). It turns out this was due to the reality being the property the vendors were buying had someone living in it (and there were additional complications making it hard for that person to move out), when we asked them to explain the multiple incorrect statements they just said sorry for any miscommunication even though they clearly knew the facts of the case for some time! This is particularly infuriating as fairly early on in the process I actually heard back from a different property where an initial offer had been rejected, where they’d changed their mind (no better offer came) asking if I’d go ahead with them. That property had no chain, so I could have completed on the timescales I needed to, but I stuck with Bairstow Eves partially because I believed they were honest with me and partially as I believed what they told me about their client situation. So if I had known the truth of the situation I would have made very different decisions and do feel I’ve been tricked into a position where I have to complete a purchase (by the time I found out the truth it would have been even bigger delay to back out and find another property) by dishonesty by Bairstow EvesIn another case where they were economical with the truth throughout the process we’d been dealing with a slow conveyancer from the vendor’s end this reached the point where we had to tell Adam if he didn’t successfully push the conveyancers to get work done we would have to withdraw from the purchase, to his credit he did managed it hold of them and get things moving. However the managing partner of firm then called up Adam to find out what had happened and Adam, according to the managing partner, denied such a meeting had taken place! I can’t figure out why except to try and appease the conveyancer.Ultimately the volume of errors is really the heart of the issue. Any one of these mistakes could easily be forgivable but collectively it shows an agency with a mindset antithetical to a good relationship with either vendors or buyers, an inability to learn from their own errors, and which is at the most generous interpretation routinely economical with the truth. So fundamentally the question I’d ask back to anyone considering them is would you want to trust one of the biggest purchases or sales in your lives to an agency like that?

TrustpilotEXPENSIVE SNEAKY CHARLATANS!
They are the worst Estate Agents ever! The Aberdare branch sold my Home in the Spring of 2020, after I had instructed the female agent not to sell to a person I didn't like. She went behind my back and done the opposite and let him view my Home. I didn't sell to him in the end. A real sneak, so I reported her to Head Office!Even my Solicitor stated they were the most expensive Agents he had ever known!I had a recent call from their Birmingham office offering me financial services and I told them what they could do with it!Don't touch the sneaky expensive excuse for Estate Agents!

TrustpilotStratford branch worst experience ever
We bought a house in Stratford and I’ve never seen such a level of unprofessionalism. It’s unbelievable how they can get their fee or make a living after not having been useful even once throughout the process. Ellie and Ian cancelled appointments, were unable to answer simple questions about the property, were irresponsive both via email and phone calls and on top of that they were condescending and rude. We had no chain on any side and took 5 months to close the deal mostly because of them, they delayed the process by cancelling appointments to revisit the house, didn’t open a lock to the roof before the survey was done and had to spend more money to have that area checked afterwards and in the end they left the house deliberately uncleaned with loads of rubbish and items we wanted removed as per the signed contact and no one takes ownership of any mistake done and have lame excuses to avoid doing their job and be useful in any way. I would stay away from this agency or you’ll lose money and time and will get very frustrated.

TrustpilotStratford Branch
Avoid at all cost, or it will cost you.Terrible experience from the beginning to the end. They weren't able to help a single time. Cancelled appointments with the worst excuses possible. They were unable to open a padlock for months. Hide information on purpose, like a shed full of broken pottery hidden behind a sign of "danger", that they didn't allow to touch or look at. I only was able to see it after the completion, because they cancelled the appointment to double check before that, and if I wanted another appointment I had to pay extra thousands of pounds for delaying the process, it's outrageous! They wash their hands at every step. It's unbelievable how bad they are. Not a single member of the company took ownership even once. This has been months of process, and not even by chance they got it right. It's almost funny how even in the last step, giving the keys, they lost a piece of paper saying what was each key doing. They had one job! and they weren't able to do even that. Now I have to spend extra money to clean the mess with stuff left everywhere, after spending extra thousands of pounds thanks to missed dates with the stamp duty holiday.

TrustpilotHow this company can quote 'we aim to provide the highest levels of customer service' is embarrassing
I am currently on day 18 without a fridge freezer and the service I have received has been appalling. I quote from the team lead in property management when escalating the concern 'Why don't you purchase long life milk'... Every communication liaised has been from us contacting them - not once have they offered information; their customer service is unsatisfactory to say the least as well as their attitude. I am yet to come across a member of the team that knows what is going on or has even the slightest bit of professionalism - they just don't care. Finally, it would be nice for Bairstoweves to answer their phone when I am attempting to make a formal complaint via their Customer Care Team - sums up the company!

TrustpilotCannock branch - totally useless
Cannock branch.A terrible experience from start to finish. Jack Brindley who was supposedly handling my purchase was rude, inept and evasive. From “forgetting” to inform my solicitors that my vendors solicitors had changed, to filing important paperwork that should have been forwarded to the vendors solicitors - the list is endless. Kerry Battersby the branch manager was just as useless ..calling me to say she had solved the problem and found the missing paperwork was unbelievable - she had solved the problem her branch had created! Even when I went to pick up the keys (after being informed by my solicitors the funds had cleared and I could pick up the keys - Ms. Battersby shouted across the office ‘oh they always say that even if they aren’t ready” ..only to find out once a member of her staff called to check - indeed the funds had cleared! From avoiding calls, lack of any communication, on top of the terrible errors which delayed my purchase by months I can honestly say their lack of any kind of customer care is astonishing. Be very careful of using this company- please avoid ..I would give zero stars if possible.

TrustpilotThe people at Bairstow are very…
The people at Bairstow are very friendly however, please AVOID buyers using their recommended solicitors (Countrywide solicitors) who are TERRIBLE. We choose our buyer based on Bairstow recommending them because they were using their recommened solicitors. We were told this would be helpful - it has not been! Our solicitors can never get hold of them despite calling multiple times a day. Has slowed our process up hugely and causing lots of stress. So disappointing. Bairstow need to rethink their partnerships.
