Amazing
James made the renting process very easy for me. He was always available, willing, and ready to help. The rest of the team were also very friendly. I will highly recommend JNR properties.

DO NOT RECOMMEND, Absolutely horrific service on JNR's part, upon initially choosing JNR to rent with I was constantly pestered to pay my deposit, on one occasion even being told that I still need to pay 8 pence (yes 8 pence) but as soon as I inhabited the flat for a total of 3 days the communication was less frequent. Where real estate agents are supposed to check that all is well in the property as they are paid for, I arrived to a toilet that wouldn't flush (Waiting a day until it would be fixed), a hanging plug socket (almost being electrocuted), an inaccessible metre, dirt, a broken sofa bed and missing items from the inventory. 'After much deliberation', I decided to part ways with the flat, which of course JNR were not happy about, with an Employee (James) demanding in defense of the landlord that I come all the way back to Cardiff from London to collect my unused newly bought plates and cutlery (Which no doubt will be given to the new unfortunate tenant), when I asked if it was a joke James responded in an unprofessional manner that he 'would not fight with me' but they are my belongings and that it would cost £100 for 'removal of belongings/light cleaning' to just throw some new plates away/give to new tenant and clean an already clean apartment (which I had cleaned from the cess pit it was)- which I eventually had to choice but to pay. Oh and to give you an idea of the Professionalism of the staff, James responded when I told him how ridiculous it was that he ask me to pay after all the landlord had allowed to happen in the flat by saying ' I can't comment on that as I haven't been to the apartment', even though he was new to my case you would think he'd have given the place a look at before I had gotten there.NegativeProfessionalism

Don’t rent from this place. They tired to take more than half of our deposit when we left the property for items broken and dirty when we moved in. They charge huge amounts for cleaning and painting. A very stressful experience moving out and trying to receive any deposit after leaving :((

Honestly probably one of the worst letting agents in Cardiff. Firstly when we received the house the condition of it was pretty filthy, yet they undoubtedly charged the previous tenants a cleaning fee. We had rats in our roof for 2 months whilst they refused to do anything about it. Then when they finally decided that this was not acceptable their solution was to just stick rat traps in the roof and never remove them so we had a fly infestation due to the rotting rat corpses. They are unresponsive to any maintenance issues that you bring up and when they finally do respond their actions are subpar at best. The final nail in the coffin was the fact that they attempted to take 1/3 of our deposit based on claims that were either already at the house when we got there, or completely unjustified. I'd give it a 0 star if I could.

Do not waste your time renting from this landlord, I have been living in one of their properties for 6 months now, the basement to my apartment which was sold to me as usable space is ridden with mould and has ruined several pieces of furniture, recieved 0 communication from this company and have had to consistently pester them to get any real communication. Save your money and time and rent elsewhere - everyone that works here should feel awful for the poor job they do

After living in one of the properties managed by JNR in 2020/21, I decided never to associate myself with this agency as their service was awful. However, recently I ended up taking on a flat advertised by JNR once again as I had limited options. James, one of the agents at JNR, managed this process for me and has been extremely helpful throughout the process, showing an understanding of a tenants position when letting a new place. I was anxious about moving into a JNR property after my previous experience, but James's exemplary customer service has changed this for me. I am giving you 4 stars and not 5 as this is only the start of the process and I hope the service stays the same throughout. :)PositiveResponsiveness

Do NOT recommend. Took MONTHS to fix my bed had to sleep on the floor. Since the day I moved in. Will try to take your deposit no matter what.

I would absolutely not recommend JNR! They are not reliable in returning holding fees at all and do not cooperate well with tenant, causing a lot of stress. Their documents (recipts and contracts) often seem full of errors which is really unhelpful when when renting with them. They definitely need to better fulfil the needs of their tenants, including not withholding tenants' money from them! Disgraceful!

Have been with JNR for 3 years in 2 different properties. The properties they manage mostly belong to the same landlord which is also the owner of the company. Their houses are usually decent although as with every rental property you cannot expect super high quality. JNR's repairs team is absolutely amazing once they do come. By that I mean that a lot of times the maintenance issues are not communicated from the office team to the repairs team. I was far better off contacting the contractors directly. My main issue lies with communication as most of the times that I am emailing JNR I am usually ignored. When they do respond there have been incidents where they were rude. Note that at least for 1-bed flats they ask you to decide whether you'll re-sign months in advance, using dodgy techniques such as saying they'll raise the rent for next year if you dont rebook early (8 months before contract end for me) which I find outrageous especially since their clientele consists of mostly young professionals and students which cannot know their plans for next year/semester so early. Overall it's not the best rent agency in Cardiff but not the worst either. Advice to prospective tenants, demand full transparency, report issues that might arise and persist until those are resolved. Regarding deposits I left the property in a very good state and I didn't have any issues and had the full amount returned. I hope that applies for all tenants given they leave the house as they found it. General advice for any rental property: take photos of every single item and corner in the house for future reference if disputes arise.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

Hands down the scummiest landlords in cardiff, their properties are some of the worst in the city, they will ignore your communications, they won't fix anything even when legally required to do so, and the letting agency is run by the landlord, a guy who is such a shady character he almost did prison time for the way he conducts his businesses, as you can see from this gov.uk page press . hse . gov . uk/2021/04/21/company-and-director-prosecuted-for-repeated-poor-standards-of-site-safety/NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

I rented from this agency a couple of years ago. Having rented in Cardiff for a number of years I'd never heard of them, which I assumed was a good sign as you know who the bad agencies in Cardiff are. The staff at the agency always seemed friendly and willing to help with any problems. However, anything reported would not get sorted and you would have to continuously call to get the issue solved - every time was courteously assured it would be sorted with the utmost urgency. They never were. The agency also seems to have no understanding of the law. Several times towards the end of the tenancy they would show up unannounced with people to view the property - despite the legal obligation of 24 hours notice. They also include illegal clauses in their contract which are deemed unfair terms and conditions in the Consumer Rights Act 2015. And upon leaving the property they also tried to charge me for issues which were present in the property when I moved it. Overall it is an amateurish outfit and I would recommend to avoid. Luckily they seem such a small agency I doubt you will come across any properties they let.

AVOID. If I could give negative stars I would. -- Notice how all the recent reviews are about 1 maintenance man but nothing about the actually agency - this is because they are inherently awful -- I am not usually one to leave reviews but I have never ever experienced a more poorly run establishment. To begin with, the property inventory that we were provided did not remotely reflect the property with items missing, extra furniture and even light fittings that didn't exist??? The inventory was clearly made before the property was renovated then never updated. Following this, we amended the old inventory with what was actually in the property including damage on walls etc etc. JNR promised to get it written up and sent to us but never arrived even by the time we moved out 1 year later (there was no way we were staying longer than the year). The property had numerous faults when we moved in which we promptly made known to JNR and were assured that maintenance would come to fix the issues. On numerous occasions maintenance and other services associated with JNR entered our property without telling us which is a breach of contract and completely against the law. We mentioned this to JNR who told us this would not happen again (it did). Further to this, on one occasion we had returned home from work to find that they had changed the locks on the property and not told us. After a number of issues with JNR not upholding their end of the contract we resorted to getting in touch with citizens advice to see how we could get out of the property as soon as possible as it never felt safe there and we were paying for a property that did not reflect the tenancy agreement. At the end of our tenancy, we were emailed to say that they had found new tenants to move into the property in 3 weeks' time. This was the first we had heard about being kicked out of the property. As this was during the peak of COVID-19 we originally asked to extend the agreement to August to give us time to safely find another property. This was originally agreed over the phone with one JNR employee and then disputed the next week by another. In the end we were so fed up with JNR not communicating between themselves and blaming us for inconsistencies on their end, we quickly found a property and left by the day the contract ended (as stated on the tenancy agreement that we had signed). After thinking we were finally free we had a number of calls from JNR (for 4 weeks after vacating the property) asking why we had not paid rent and when we were moving out (despite discussing numerous times with Chantelle that we were leaving on the 28th June and getting the end of tenancy inspection carried out). We have still not received our deposit back (which has had cleaning costs deducted despite the property being cleaner when we left than when we moved in the year prior). Having lived in Cardiff for 6 years renting a different property each year with different letting agencies, I know how some letting agencies can be a bit lazy but I have never in my life experienced a more unprofessional team. No communication and no respect for the tenants whatsoever. We have reported JNR to both the Property Ombudsman and Cardiff council.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

Do not rent with JNR!! I've never come across such an awful letting agency. No communication internally, absolutely terrible communication with tenants. We'd report maintenance issues and they'd never get resolved, despite us chasing continually. We never had an inventory- we didn't even have proper furniture in a lot of the rooms despite being promised this! Every time we'd call up it was as if they had no record of us, or any previous communication with us. Just an absolute mess. Couldn't wait for our year with them to come to an end. Honestly would give 0 stars if I could.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

THINK CAREFULLY
I have never experienced a letting agency quite like JnR. The staff are disrespectful and unhelpful. In particular, Samatha, who has made me feel nothing but belittled, with her short and sarcastic manner. The agency take no responsibility for any problems you may face whilst living in one of their properties, as “they don’t deal with that stuff”, in fact, the only thing they do seem to deal with is next years guarantor form. They are completely unresponsive to emails, taking months on end to reply and that’s if they even do. It has honestly angered me the way in which they treat their tenants, as they have no interest in providing a good service at all. The agency also don’t check over their properties before handing over the keys to new tenants, as everything is left dirty and broken. It takes months for maintenance issues to be acknowledged and rectified. It’s such a shame, as some of their properties have the potential to be so lovely!

I wouldn’t even rate them 1 star. They are impossible to get a hold of, their answering machine says the offices are closed due to the covid-19 outbreak which is completely outdated now. I have a leak in my bathroom and which is flooding the space completely and they haven’t dealt with any of my emails or phone calls. Disgraceful service.

The Maintenance guy Galo is fab, there was a leak in the bathroom and he fitted a new bath tub, shower head, skin, mirror, all in the same day. . .thank you :)

Angry landlord
We were a bunch of clean and tidy and mature students who received a satisfactory property which we spent lots of money cleaning . Throughout the tenancy they were bad with emails . On the last day of the tenancy they had sent us a notice beforehand stating we had the property till a certain date meaning we had it till 11:59 am that day. As we were tidying that morning the landlord came in and started screaming at us to leave and got agitated at a young girl who said “let me speak “ . We did not swear or shout back but he left one of us having a panicking attack . They lied a lot about emailing the wrong lead tenant a check out time which the actual lead tenant had not agreed . Put a lot of pressure on us to leave by a certain time though we legally had the property . A woman at the office gave us sarcastic replies when we said we would go the legal route . Still scarred from this experience and the way they let themselves in and shouted . Also taken random money from our deposits.

The worst estate agents ever!! The amount of issues in 12 months in 1 flat has been ridiculous. Your home is supposed to be a place to relax and unwind but sadly due to jnr this hasn't happened. Obviously, I understand that there can be problems in a property but the way they dealt with them was what made it so bad. I think they must go by the saying "ignorance is bliss". Don't call you back, don't respond to your emails, don't send people out when they say they are and then lie to you and say someone Has been, thinking you would have been in work and you have been there all day. They are rude, lazy and liars!! Every problem needs to be passed to the person on the team who deals with that when they are in a small little shop and only about 4 people work there, they honestly think you believe the rubbish that the spout you!! Insulting my intelligence. Every tenant in my block of flats have said they can't wait to leave as jnr are useless!!! This place needs a proper inspection and hopefully gets shut down!!! 12 months of hell!!

I came to JnR a few weeks back in hopes that they would help me find a suitable 1 bed for July. I approached Dan M who was amazing from day 1. Listening to and understanding my current circumstances and preferences. He was very patient with me while I took my time deciding (typically) and kept in frequent contact to keep me up to date with tennancy situations, was well chuffed with the place i picked today. Whole staff were really friendly, but Dan M was really approachable and I'm looking forward to moving in July! Wicked tatse in cars too!

Appalling
Absolutely appalling. Do not go with this letting agency. We have had issues of pest control for the whole 12 months contract and they have been no help whatsoever. Whether you are a student or professional I advise you to go with any other letting agency. - if you thought CPS were bad, you haven't met JNR. They only help themselves. The landlord is also the owner of the letting agency and if you google him on the government websites you will find he has an extensive property list and has been inovlved is many dissolved businesses - dodgy

Worst letting agency ever
This has been the worst experience with a letting agency ever. They are incompetent, irresponsive to any issue, lie about fixing issues that never got fixed, charge you £70 for a spec of dust despite initially moving in to an uncleaned rancid property. They gave out well over 9 permits for a 7 space car park resulting in multiple occasions where we had to pay to park elsewhere or get fined. The “secure” car park is far from that, we had our car smashed and robbed twice. They cant reply to emails, or even send us one without an issue. They are nothing other than a scam, awful customer service and I would strongly recommend anyone to use ANYONE ELSE APART FROM JNR. There arent words to describe this joke of a service.
