Horrible experience with this agency

Horrible experience with this agency. I am currently living in a 3 bed flat in Fulham where one of the bedroom ceiling has collapsed and for last 2 months the agency has been slow, practically unresponsive and simply rude. They treat tenants with such disdain it’s shocking. Do not use this company

Claire Carter (based at the Weybridge branch) handled my purchase from start to finish and was exceedingly efficient. I was on a very tight timeline yet she saw no reason as to why we could not complete on time and she held true to her word. Incredibly rude staff

I rented a property that was part managed by John D Wood. The service was just awful - whenever we wanted something done with any urgency, they never responded. As soon as they wanted something, we'd receive really abrupt and quite rude emails demanding that we respond immediately. The tone of all staff was rude and often accusatory. I still have no idea what the landlord paid them for as they didn't manage the property as we dealt with all the maintenance issues.

Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and when a storm took down a tree and demolished the hedge, they immediately got a chap along to sort it out.Their communication regarding feedback from potential buyers was superb. Let a couple of my flats with JD Wood, a larger and smaller place. The larger place (which I was more dependent on) remained empty for so long I had to go elsewhere and find another agent (found tenants v quickly). But for the smaller apt, JDW found the worst tenants who complained about one issue or another every week, and JDW sided with these tenants every time without question. It ended up costing me to let this place. I take pride in always having the best facilities and accommodation, as well as responding quickly to any issues for peace of mind (and to retain good clients). Life happens and it's pointless having things drag on. But from the beginning JD Wood seemed to go out of their way to make life very difficult, where everything seemed to become a saga that never ended (broken washing machine, fridge, bed etc). I never had complaints with the property in question before these tenants moved in, nor with other places I own.

After we had our offer accepted Sally Behan in Weybridge called to tell us we had been gazumped. We increased our offer above asking price but were told they wouldn’t sell to us. Turns out when the seller found out our name they decided not to sell to us for ‘personal reasons’When pushed about ‘personal reasons’ she then said that there was actually a cash buyer who offered asking price. That property remained on the market for 5 weeks after that before it said under offer. Friends of mine were able to call and make viewings during this time. Disappointing that a company owned by Skipton Building Society would behave like this. The honourable thing to do would be stop acting for the seller but the commission was clearly more important.

Agent not trustworthy

I was told John D Wood (Primrose Hill) were a well respected local agency with whom I could sell my property, and they seem, on the surface, very professional. But I grew to dread calls from my allocated agent - a smooth talking, cocky young man - he seemed to constantly be on the side of the buyer, not mine. He told a couple of utter lies about offers coming in, he had a total lack of attention to detail, and eventually I ended up moving to a different agency where I had a much more pleasant experience. They may be on prime Primrose Hill high street, and have lovely properties for sale, but do not let that fool you! I just did not trust them. Go elsewhere.
