Whoever first said that moving was one of the most stressful events in one’s life must have dealt with Leaders in Burgess Hill. We received our contract the night before we were due to move having only once seen the house. The agent who was handling our ‘case’ advised us I would need a guarantor and that I would need a confirmation from their accountant which I paid £120. Then the day before we received the contract he said that he was wrong and that the confirmation wasn’t required anymore and that we would need to find a different kind of guarantor who would be able to cover both my share of rent and my husband’s who was permanently employed by a local company. Although they had our documents for a month in advance, this was all happening 2 days before we were due to move. After we gave them our notice, we accommodated every viewing they phoned us about, many of which got cancelled with Leaders not telling us or telling us when it was too late to change the plans. We waited for a month and a half for our deposit to be returned after an eye-watering deduction of £250 for mowing two small lawns which were mowed two months before proposed to us. Far from a pleasant experience for tenants.

Reposting this as the previous review seems to have been removed. I would not recommend this estate agents as they are untrustworthy. I was given incorrect and differing information by different members of the team. I have read several other review sites about these guys and wish I had read them first before dealing with Leaders. Do your research before you use them, especially as a tenant as they seem to only have the interests of the landlord at heart unfortunately.

I've personally had a pretty grotty customer experience from this branch and Leaders in general. The main issue that still causes a grievance after a considerable amount of time was the moving goal posts of deals made when they realised they've made a mistake and could lose money from such. Moving home is a very stressful experience, and this is the last thing you need. But this could have been resolved by responding to your paying customers emails, rather than ignoring them. They contradicted themselves quite a lot too, in emails and verbal conversations. It may be genuine mistakes, but it comes across as dishonest when they don't even acknowledge being called out on them. They needed constant chasing too on pretty much everything, adding further to the stress of moving. With this branch, sorry really does seems to be the hardest word. All you needed to do was be honest. We all make mistakes from time to time. Apologise and explain how you're going to put it right.
