We asked someone from Brown and Merry to come value our house with the possibility of putting it up for sale with them. We decided on another agent in the end but since giving my name, mobile number and address to Brown and Merry, I've had calls, texts and post through from haart estate agent who admitted on the phone to buying my details off another agent ( it can only be Brown and Merry as the agent we went with only had my husband's details). They've also sold my info to one of these house buying companies who text me constantly! I'm pretty sure that's a GDPR breach. AVOID CONTACTING!!

GoogleWe rented a property through this Brown and Merry branch for 3 years and they were such hard work to deal with from start to finish. The costs of renting the property in first place were completely excessive, the communication from Brown and Merry was constantly poor, but most of all we were made to feel valueless by the letting agents throughout the entire process. We are a professional working couple and ensured all of payments were made when required, we looked after the property as if it were our own yet we were treated like dirt. The checkout process of the property was completely rigged to try to retain as much of our deposit as possible, yet when we highlighted issues on check-in Brown and Merry couldn't have cared less. I will do everything in my power to never deal with this company again, and I will advise everyone I know to do the same.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

From the 1st day we got in touch with Brown and Merry it has been nothing but pleasantness - We definitely had a bit of luck with an amazing estate agents and a lovely property!

WORST LETTING AGENT I HAVE EVER BEEN WITH! if you wanna rent then rent from watsons! First off lets start with the letting agent who had no clue how to do her job! We gave her all the information she needed she also wrote it down my partner told her he had a CCJ but then the next day after we had agreed to let a house from them she had no clue about the CCJ or that my partner had a job! Which she also wrote down! She said she had to get the landlord to do something with insurance and that i had to go to the council to get something that was completely irrelevant! She also told us the tenancy would be a month to month tenancy then on the day we signed it changed to a 6 month tenancy she also couldn't remember how much the rent or deposit was! So we moved in and the washing machine that she said they had removed from the property was still there! So we had to move it out but wait that wasn't all it was filled with dirty, disgusting smelly water that flooded the kitchen the whole back wall was also covered in mould! Anyway the washing machine was sat outside in the back garden ( this was a communal garden) the washing machine blocked our neighbours bins because there was no were else to put it but we were told that the washing machine would be picked up by the weekend so the weekend come and went and guess what the washing machine was still there and after a number of phone calls, texts and emails over the week someone actually got back to us it would be picked up in a few days but oh no wait it sat there for another month! Moving on when we moved in there was no hot water or heating it took them over a week and a half to get that sorted! The house was completely dirty when we moved in! The toliet seat had wee all over it! I mean what the hell! LOOK AFTER YOUR TENANTS! The walls were completely dirty also. This place hadn't been decorated in years! So moving on a few months we get a letter through the door saying we haven't paid our rent! Wait what really? So I doubled checked my bank statement and guess what the rent had gone out to them just like it had done the past 2 times! For some reason they couldn't track our rent down! After a number of visits to my bank and a number of statements later to prove that I had payed the rent they somehow found it! Strange right? Then another month later it happend again! Tell me how do you lose rent?? Anyway no more problems after that so we come to the end of our tenancy because we found a much better and bigger place, 2 weeks before we moved out the heating and hot water just stoped working this never got sorted they left me my boyfriend and 3 kids without. So we moved out and cleaned the house it was better than when we moved in. But no the landlord who left the house dirty when we moved in said it wasn't cleaned and tried to charge us for cleaning! That didn't work it also took upto 6 months to get the rent and deposit they owed us back. This was 6 months of calls and emails half of which were ignored! They also moved people in when we still had the tenancy with them I was shocked to learn of this when I went to my home and saw people moving in! They also never asked for the keys back! And my god the amount of letting agent people who come and went from that place was unbelievable! 7 people! And all of them had no clue how to do there job! Worst ever please take your money someone else like Watson! I was with watsons for nearly 5 years and they were brilliant!!

I don't usually write a review but I thought that my experience with the Hemel Hempstead branch deserved one. I was dealing with Tom Fitzgerald who shown such professionalism throughout. He made the whole process of buying a house so easy for us, calling both parties and giving us updates all the time was incredible, very humble, good attitude towards people, brilliant personality ,knows his job very well, in all, we were able to exchange and complete very early than the usual 3 - 4 months even during the lock down because of his hard work, very well done Tom and thank you very much for helping us to buy our house which we are so much in love with, please don't let this end here, keep it up.

Do not bother booking lettings insurance with them. It is a total nightmare to cancel and they will send you on a wild goose chase to do so. I called insurance directly, they said speak to lettings, they eventually got back to me and gave me an email to cancel with. They responded saying speak to insurance company. Seriously? Full circle. Do yourself a favour and book it yourself.

GoogleI'll be honest, I rarely take the time to write reviews but on this occasion I was truly blown away by the speed, efficiency and personable handling of our situation by Alex at Brown & Merry. I haven't had to deal with estate agents for rental purposes recently but when trying to find my Mother in Law a more suitable accommodation closer to us, Alex listened, took note and went out of her was considerably to meet our needs. She's now in her perfect home, close by and all in a matter of weeks. Thank you!

GoogleI have been so incredibly impressed by both Alex and Beth who have been so brilliant through the whole lettings process. Not only were they able to listen to and remember the needs of my family but they went above and beyond to find the right rental property for us and treated us like first class tenants! Their ability to communicate and diligence for both parties involved was so impressive and I can honestly say after 14 years of renting I have never experienced such quality service, they are a credit to Brown & Merry.

GoogleAlex and Beth, were both amazing. With what was a really quick transition. With me having a difficult time with my previous landlord who was being uncooperative and not helping. I was very worried and was unsure of where i would be living. I found a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment on rightmove, that was a perfect fit for me and my son. They was supportive and helpful the whole way through. They are a brilliant team and a happy bunch. I'm very happy with the service i have received and the service I'm continuing to receive.
